I am so upset with your shop .. we had an appointment at 1. we show up and 1215. .i'm mowing were early but willing to wait until our 1 o'clock appointment. another lady comes in at 1. goes in and out 18 minutes. another lady comes in with 2 cars. goes in and out. instead of informing us that the guy had to take his lunch late and we wouldn't be seen at 1 everyone in the office sits there quietly. leaving us in the dark thinking our truck was being worked on.. sike. nope still out In the parking lot. we were there nearly an hour and 45 minutes for a freaking oil change.. are you kidding me. then they mess up and dont give us the full discount we came in with. then the lady charged me more then what's on the invoice at this point I was way beyond pissed and had to walk away. get your stuff together. inform your customers. we wont be back. you guys have horrible customer service! read more

The staff was super friendly and honest; there are snacks and coffee if you need the energy; and the prices were lower than all other places I contacted in Fresno/Clovis. This place just repaired my car. As I drove away, I noticed oily fingerprints on the dash, etc., and started toward a car wash. Then I realized my back seat was full of two big trash bags. I stopped to investigate and saw they were full of the things that had been in my trunk. My back seat is very small and the bag was bulky and very heavy and my back was injured getting it out. I called to complain and the manager said "they could have put my stuff on the ground but put it in a trash bag instead." Very snide. I understand if they had to clear out the trunk to work on the car, but then why didn't they put the things back in the trunk? Instead they threw my things in a bag where I had to struggle and be injured to get them out! He finally apologized and said he would talk to the person who did it. My back is still hurting. I didn't appreciate the dirty fingerprints in my car, the trash bags wedged into the back seat, or the injury to my back. Most of all, I don't appreciate the disrespect with which I was treated. UPDATE: a week has gone by since I picked up my car and left this review. After listening to the taped conversation, I have little to amend regarding my previous remarks. I complained. The manager apologized but excused what happened by saying they were trying to do a good thing by putting the trunk contents in a trash bag instead of on the ground. That wasn't my concern. My concern is my back was injured pulling the very heavy bag out of my back seat when the items should have been returned to my trunk. The manager described himself as "graceful" in his response. I would say he was very smooth but without showing any real concern for my injury. It turns out my back finally stopped hurting after a full week of pain. Now I'll talk about the work done. The work was costly, but probably not excessively so. The alerts on my control panel have not come back on. At the one week stage, the problems appear fixed. Another shop I went to did not fix the problem. I am happy with the actual work. I upgraded my rating to 3 stars. Were the contents of my trunk shoved in my backseat and left there by mistake or was someone being lazy or intentionally disrespectful by not putting them back in the trunk? It's easy to be more forgiving when I'm not losing sleep from back pain. read more

As a former mechanic, now part time auto enthusiast, I know a thing or two about repair shops. During my days in the shop, spanning most of the eighties, we lived up to the reference of grease monkeys. Every shop I worked at was generally dirty and grimy. And, you can still find a lot of those shops today! Not at Clovis Auto Shop! I walked into the Clovis Auto Shop front office and waiting room and I was amazed at how clean it was. Mind you, not a pretentious over the top, here comes the big bill clean, just a comfortable at home feel. From what I could see this clean extended to the work bays and the employees. This high standard, made me feel like I picked the right shop. Now I must say, I only went to the shop for a smog inspection and I do most of my own auto repairs. But at the end of the day, I was so impressed with my experience at Clovis Auto Shop that I would not hesitate to take any of my vehicle to this shop, for other repairs. read more

Made a smog check appointment online after I saw the great reviews that said "quick service." When I arrived for the appointment promptly on time, it was 25 minutes before anyone even moved my car to be inspected, and thus about a total of 50 minutes before the process was finished (I failed the smog test, but this was not their fault..as a side note, if you don't drive your car daily, drive around on the freeway 30 minutes or so prior to your appointment or you will apparently fail the smog test, as I learned the hard way). I was told to return after driving on the freeway for awhile. After paying for the full test fee, I came back and had to pay another re-test fee upon returning along with the certificate fee. In sum, I paid quite a bit more for the smog check than expected just because I hadn't driven my car frequently enough. Although they clearly state the re-test fee on the wall, I thought it was still a bit much given that I'd already paid the full smog test fee just 2 hours before. I ended up spending almost $100 for the certification in the end. However, the second time I returned, the service was more prompt than when I had an appointment, which I found confusing. I was in and out within 25 minutes for the re-test. I wish they had been a little more prompt when I'd made my appointment, and I felt like the $40 re-test fee 2 hours after I failed the first was a little much to be charging. read more

I signed up on Yelp just to leave this review. This auto shop explains everything clearly and honestly. As someone who knows nothing about mechanics, I felt like I understand what my car needed. They dumbed it down for me. I felt like this was a doctor for my car, and before I left I had a scheduled plan when I needed to see them again. I also know pretty much when I'll need to make other repairs, all the way to a year out. Chris was extremely helpful. Their inspection program was downright amazing. It allowed my husband and I to look at everything together, with pictures, and decide before I went back what we were going to get done on our car. Melli was really nice and gave me a ride to and from the shop, which was really handy. Overall, a really great experience, and I'm really happy to have found them. read more

Not sure how I stumbled upon this place, but I'm glad I did! Needed a last minute smog for my registration, walked in, and had it done within 30 min ($55)! This place has to be the cleanest and friendliest auto repair shop I have ever been to. Everyone was courteous, they have TV, AC, free snacks for kids, and coffee for adults. Went to micheals Toyota to get a bulb changed. With an appointment they still made me wait by the car for 20 minutes before telling me the ridiculous price. Came to clovis auto and got parts and labor for less then micheals labor alone. And they got to my car within 5 minutes. I'll be back here for my next auto related issue forsure! read more

I bought an older suburban that was in need of fixing up. I found Clovis Auto Shop on the internet and chose it because it was close to my home. I first took it there for the smog needed to change title and I have taken it there for everything else it has needed along the way. Window motor, oil changes, serving 4x4, water pump, etc,etc. Clovis Auto Shop has always been very easy to work with, polite and friendly staff and they go above and beyond when they know you need your vehicle back. They have a GREAT waiting room, complete with snacks and coloring books for my kids (seriously, thank you). They also make sure you know what you're paying for and are fair and honest with pricing. My wife's car developed an uncomfortable noisy brake problem (Of course, a day before we needed to use it for a trip!) yesterday, about midday. I haven't really been using or leaving reviews lately from or on Yelp. So I decided last minute , this morning in fact to pick a place that I would hope wouldn't be overwhelmed with business so I could get it in. Thanks to you Yelpers out there, I found Clovis Auto Shop. I had a very good first time experience there. I found a place that I feel comfortable with and that I know will do a good thorough job and not take advantage (I hope) of my wife's lack of auto knowledge. The smaller auto shops, like this one have an advantage over the big chained automotive places. That's independent pride in their work without corporate pressuring them with the numbers game. Hi Rob, Thank you for taking the time to address my concerns with my recent visit to your shop. In the hopes that I can assist you with your growth as a business, I would like to clarify a few things you mentioned: 1. I understand that the smog check could be performed while the check engine light is on in the event that the repairs will be costly and I appreciate that your staff is aware of that benefit; however, couldn't the check engine light been diagnosed first to determine the amount of the repairs so that I could have made a more informed decision as to whether or not I wanted to spend the money to have it smogged when we (your staff member and I) knew it wouldn't pass? That would have saved me $46.75 from what I can tell on the final invoice. I paid for the smog at the recommendation of your staff because I trusted that they knew what they were doing. 2. I don't see where the invoice mentions that the vibration I was concerned about was due to a separated tire and I certainly wasn't told that when I spoke with your staff. The invoice states, "FRONT TIRE REPLACEMENT RECOMMENDED DO TO LOW TREAD, UNEVEN WEAR, PUNCTURE OR DEFECT" and this is noted for all 4 tires. Had I known that was the cause of the problem, I would have just had the tires replaced. Instead, I was told that I needed new control arms and a new strut assembly, which would have cost just under $1,500 to have repaired at your shop with parts and labor. 3. My statement regarding the pictures that were sent to me was merely an assumption, which is stated in my review, based on the 2 other opinions I received from other shops. Yes, the struts and control arms are worn, but they aren't broken or in need of replacement at this time according to both of the other shops. 4. You mention that a courtesy inspection was performed to diagnose the vibration in my steering wheel; however, according to the final invoice, I paid $178.50 for a diagnostic evaluation. Now if that's just the price to hook my car up to a computer and have it spit out diagnostic codes for the check engine light, that's a little steep so I appreciate the "courtesy" inspection into my other concern. 5. Lastly, when I asked your staff member for the BARE MINIMUM estimate of the repairs that were needed in order to address my concerns, I received an invoice that said I needed a new air/fuel sensor (parts: $248.28, labor: $74.97), a new molded coolant hose (parts: $30.19, labor: $63.07), original green formula concentrate ($19.99), complete strut assembly x2 (parts: $559.36, labor: $224.91), control arm x2 (parts: $389.72, labor: $224.91), cost of 4 new Cordovan Sumic GT-A tires size 1956015 (parts: $215.00), alignment ($89.95), smog inspection ($59.50), computerized tire mount and balance ($88.00) and a road hazard tire warranty for $42.00). That should all total up to $2,448.58. If it was clearly indicated on the invoice that the vibration was due to an air bubble in the tire, then why was I informed that it was absolutely necessary to spend the money to have the strut assembly and control arms replaced? All in all, I was able to have the repairs that my car actually needed (including 4 new tires) for a fraction of the price your shop was charging me. When I called and told your staff member that I was going to have the repairs done somewhere else because the prices were much lower, he didn't even ask me what he could do to keep my business. He simply said, "okay" and gave me the total for the work that was done. Although you personally may be committed to matching the prices of your competitors, the staff member I worked with isn't. For anonymity's sake, I don't want to say his name but I'm sure you can tell by looking in your system. read more

Took my truck to get it smogged & asked them to also check for a gas smell coming into the cab. They fixed the smog issues but the smell of gas was not remediated. We took our truck in 3 times and they couldn't find the source of the smell of gas in the cab. We even borrowed a car from my in-laws and left it over night because they said it may need to be checked first thing in the morning. They returned it saying they couldn't find an issue and left our truck out for us to pick up after work. Then, we had family in from out of state. We thought we'd take them out to see Christmas lights. The smell was so bad we had to roll down the windows. I was so upset since my children were in the truck with us. I took my truck back in a last time and told them that it was rediculous that they can't find it when the smell is so bad and they had to check it again. This time, I told them that when I Googled the problem at home it suggested they check the gas line or gas valves. Guess what?!, they found the problem. Ridiculous that I had to waste my time and energy when all I had to do is Google it. I was told that the reason they couldn't find it was because the technician on the problem typically works on smog issues and since he had worked on our truck in the past and was familiar with it, they put him on it ever time we took it in to check for the gas smell in the cab. The last time, they put another technician on it and he found it. Was that supposed to make me feel better?! I told them that was a lame excuse. After finding the issue, I then learned that they were also going to charge us $200 over the mechanic shop where we typically get work done on our vehicles. I wonder how much they overcharged us the first time! Thank God no one threw a cigarette butt out their window while we were behind them. The gas valve leak was so bad we could have met our demise due to the lack of thorough and thoughtful attention to seek out and find the problem even after three visits. read more

We recently brought our car in to Clovis auto shop to have some repairs done on a car we just bought. Turns out there were some significant problems but Raul and the staff at Clovis auto shop were outstanding. Raul quickly diagnosed it he problem and thoroughly explained to me what needed to be fixed. Raul kept me well informed throughout the repair and was professional and very knowledgeable.
