I wouldn't really say this is a good matcha spot since it doesn't seem to have any matcha flavor. The good reviews are probably from the days it was Kyomatcha and not the current quality.

The drawback was that there were SO many people at 4:30pm on Memorial Day. Every table was taken and the line went from the counter to the door. There were so many people in that small space that it was hard to navigate without bumping into someone, and it was very loud. Unfortunately, the crowds detracted from the whole experience. The place has a simple, minimalistic and colorful look, but there are some really fun details, like the craft tables and the whole wall of colorful beads where someone can make their own Perler crafts. It gives the place a playful little personality. The staff were super nice and gave me some really good recommendations since it was my first time there. I decided to start with the traditional Japanese cheesecake, and wow... the texture was the first thing that got me. It was incredibly soft and fluffy, almost like biting into a little cloud, but it still had enough body to feel like cheesecake. The cheese flavor was gentle and creamy instead of being super heavy or overly sweet. There was a slight tanginess that balanced everything out, and it had this light, almost airy finish that just disappeared in my mouth. But then I tried it with the ice cream together... 100% better. The cold, creamy ice cream with the warm, soft cheesecake created this really good contrast. The extra sweetness from the ice cream brought out more of the cheesecake's subtle cheese flavor without covering it up. Definitely a different kind of cheesecake, and I'm glad I tried it.

I wish I was able to travel with one of their cheesecakes but they require refrigeration. Anyhow the cheesecake itself was delicious super light, fluffy, and honestly felt like biting into a cloud. I had the salted egg but they had several flavor options that I would've loved to try if slices were available. The texture is what really stands out, and the flavor was unique and interesting in a good way. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it taste like, but it was sweet, but not too sweet They only sale but I consider a personal size but it's definitely enough to share with two people, maybe even three depending on how much of a sweet tooth you have. My only downside like others is the price. Paying around $19-$20 for a small cheesecake felt a bit steep, especially since they don't offer slices. I really wish they had smaller portions available so you could try different flavors without committing to a full cake prize. They package it very well and they also serve you a cute little fork set and a knife for cutting which I think is contributes to the price. The shop itself is very cute with chic décor and a lot of Asian-inspired artwork, which adds to the overall vibe. Customer service was friendly. When I visit Chicago again I'd definitely go back the texture and taste alone make it worth it but I do hope they consider offering smaller portions in the future.

Whether it be for trending as a hot new business, or being reviewed by other yelpers, You're a Cookie! just kept popping up on my Yelp feed which built that interest in visiting. As a cookie lover, of course I took the bait! I ordered an all-butter variety stack. Since You're a Cookie! is open only on the weekend, I pre-ordered a few days out in order to avoid any potential customer lines. If you are not familiar with the storefront, then you may miss this business because there is no distinguishing logo. My advice is to keep your eyes peeled for 'Wok ! You Want', its neighboring restaurant that has a distinguishing logo. Parking at this location consists of a shared lot with other businesses, as well as street and residential. I visited minutes into the shop opening on a Saturday and had plentiful spots to choose from. Acknowledged as soon as I walked in, in-between the owner I believe who was preparing orders. I took notice of the vegan chocolate cookie as my order was being packaged. I mentioned my interest in ordering the all-vegan variety stack in the future. I ended up requesting one to go along with my all-butter variety stack which the owner gave with no charge. Prior to my next off weekend, I will surely order the all-vegan variety stack because I did enjoy the vegan chocolate chip cookie given. The owner was sociable during my visit! If I would have been a little more rested, I would have asked more questions pertaining to the business or kept more of a conversation going. I will leave that for another visit, preferably a visit in the afternoon rather than morning. As for the cookies, I enjoyed every bite of the double chocolate chip cookie! It wasn't too chewy nor too crunchy; the cookie literally made my mouth water in-between bites, hehe. After finishing it, I smiled remembering that I had another left. The oatmeal blueberry cookie hands down is the best oatmeal cookie I have ever had. Its buttery taste gave my taste buds something to yearn for. I ended up eating my second oatmeal blueberry cookie immediately after. And lastly, the triple chocolate chip! I saved it for last because I knew it would have been my favorite out of the others. I just wish I had not run out of milk prior to visiting, *shaking my head*. I had the biggest grin on my face after eating the triple chocolate chip cookie. I closing I had a satisfying overall experience with You're a Cookie! I would surely order from again as indicated in this review, * chef's kiss *. ~Blessings~ Thomas G

First there was the cupcake trend, then the cookie shops... are brownies about to have their day in the sun? The woman working (owner?) was really nice and gave me the lay of the land. They sell over a dozen kinds of brownies and blondies here. They had some special flavors (not on their posted menu) that seemed kind of fall-inspired, in addition to their standard fare. I'm not a brownie person but recently learned blondies are really good, so I got a Bee Bee blondie and a Carrie blondie. The Carrie is a carrot-cake like dessert, with caramel and cream cheese frosting. It was really good, and as a note it is a little "wetter" of a brownie due to the ingredients and thus a bit stickier. The Bee Bee features a biscoff cookie and white chocolate, and was really good. Both were rich and so good, and though they are a little expensive they're definitely worth the occasional splurge! I can honestly say I've never seen this variety of brownies, and Brou'ne had definitely elevated this humble treat to something with much more complex flavors and textures than I'd ever expect out of this staple item from the baked goods category. They have a Thanksgiving menu that I'm going to take a look at, but what I'm really interested in is that they ship nationwide. I'm looking forward to taking a look at that menu to see what items I might be able to send to my mom for Christmas and/or her December birthday. In addition to their signature sweet, they have cookies and cake slices in the cooler. They also have coffee and tea on the menu, and I also picked up a bag of sea salt caramels that were to die for. I've already told others about the place even though it was just last night that I stopped in; I'll be back again, 100%. And maybe I'll bring a friend.
