Visited 26 July 2023 Cafe Atlantico was a short distance from Hilton Royal Palm, so we decided to walk there for breakfast since the sun wasn't fully out, and it was still cool. The walk was less than half a mile and took less than 10 minutes. Upon arrival, we were unsure what the process was, so we asked the lady at the cashier. She informed us that we would order and pay, and then the food would be brought to us. After deciding what we wanted, we ordered our food for dining in, paid - cash only, then seated ourselves. After the food was ready, it was brought out to our table.  My man had the ham, cheese, and eggs, with added bacon and light butter on a baguette. I had bacon, cheese, and eggs, with added avocado and light butter, also on a baguette. For beverages, he had coffee, and I opted for black tea. The beverages were very hot!! The place seems to be popular for their baked goods. While we were there, a few people came in and out for the baked items. Our sandwiches were good except the butter was so melted that it was dripping from the sandwiches all over the plate. That also indicated that it wasn't lightly applied. Maybe next time we'll try something other than the baguette. At first, the two employees didn't seem friendly, but after chatting with them, they were very pleasant. They must have been really busy prior to us arriving. One thing I did not notice was a bathroom on the property. But, since neither of us needed to use the bathroom, we didn't ask. One could very well be there. It is a quaint little business that seems to do good with baked items. They even have free wifi, which seems to be a big trend for most businesses on the island. First let me say that desserts are my favorite part of the meal (yep I have lots of favorites). I flew here just to eat based off of a review I found on a flying web site. From the outside this place does not look very large, you walk in and it appears larger. You first see shirts and hoodies and things to buy for the restaurant and the airport next door. And when I say next door, I mean literally 100 feet away. I sat down ordered a water and looked the menu over. There appeared to only be one server and maybe 4 or 5 tables being used, so it was a little slow, but heck I didn't come here to eat at some fast food place. I asked for recommendations and my waitress didn't eat red meat, but did say what was popular, so I ordered a salsa burger with curly fries. When it came out you could tell it was a fresh hand made burger with a slice of grilled onion and some salsa, and a HUGE amount of curly fries. The burger was perfect and oh so yummy. It was not huge, but perfect is size. The fries were from a standard frozen bag of curly fires but they were good, but wow there was enough to share with 2 other people. I ate a wee bit over half of them. Then I asked about dessert, she brought over a small menu with a list of yummy items, including the gooey orange cake with vanilla ice cream and orange sherbet. All I can say is get here before it is gone. This is one of the best desserts I have had in a while. I would fly, drive, hitchhike, take a bus, a train or even a balloon, get here and enjoy some gooey orange cake! read more

Never again. Took an hour and a half to get a burger and fries. What a joke. It was like they were surprised when people show up at lunch time wanting food. To top it off I had to step into the kitchen to find someone to come to the register so I could pay the bill. read more

My husband has been working on the airport beside of the cafe, so we've ate here a lot in the last little bit. It's small and doesn't have a huge menu, but the food is good and I think they have plenty of different options on the menu. It's set up very cute also, I like the different colored rocking chairs on their porch out front. The owner (I assume) also sales shirts that she makes in the restaurant... they're cute shirts, if not a little overpriced though. read more

If I could give this place a negative star I would. We waited 45 minutes for our appetizer, all the while we could not get our waitress to check on us or refill our drinks. We then waited another 20 minutes with no main course. THEY WERE NOT BUSY AT ALL, less than a hand full of people in the place.. my recommendation go somewhere else. read more

Visited in January 2020. Not a bad little place for some "homemade" like cuisine. I enjoyed the stuffed tomato with chicken salad and my husband had the pan fried orange roughy. The portions were generous and the food was hot and fresh. I would definitely stop in again the next time I am in the area. read more

Flew into K22 Earlier tonight with some friends and had dinner at the Cloud 9. The menu is your traditional American / Southern fare, with your options from BBQ sandwich to Ribs. Most of the names on the menu reflect Aviation terms. My friends both got the 172 Monte Cristo. It's basically a turkey sandwich wrapped in lightly fried pastry and dipped in a strawberry sauce. Reminded me of an awesome toaster strudel, yet fit for dinner. The came with the choice of steak fries or curly fries. I opted for the Pork Chop stuffed with Canadian Ham. The pork chop was breaded and fried, and was pretty tasty. A tad too fatty and thin for my likings, but overall, a good deal for just under $10. The table next to us got the Baby Back Ribs and I was jealous, definitely my choice for the next time. Service a tad slow, but overall a wonderful experience! You can drive or fly into this restaurant, but if you fly in, the FBO is extremely friendly and they service your plane while you eat. Plus, you get 10% off your fuel bill if you eat at Cloud 9! read more

Food was great, building was clean, service was like a morgue. Blonde lady came to the front after I stood there about 3 minutes. I asked if they were open as she never said "hello, welcome, bug off" nothing, I had to ask what were the specials, she quickly recited those as I sat down. Thru the rest of my visit she said maybe 8 words. Did not come back except to ask if I wanted dessert. Nothing about pay at the front, of course never came back with a bill and there were maybe 7 other people in the entire restaurant. I went up to the front when I was finished to pay and she was chatting with an older man that was not a customer, had to ask her if I could put the tip on my card, paid and as I left she never said "thank you, don't come again, have a bad day" nothing just stood there. I would eat there at least twice a week but not if that is the service you get. read more

I have to say that though the cafe is quite the drive to reach, the view is incredible. There's lots of wildlife, including Elk, and beautiful scenery to see right from the window, or by a short drive. It is a unique little cafe and besides it having tacky decor (wooden clouds everywhere, etc.) it was a cute place. I got the club sandwich, which was unimpressive. However, I tried their steak burger, and that had a nice flavor. The best thing on the menu was their deep fried turkey sandwich. It came with a raspberry sauce as well as a side. Over, the food was not horrible, but not particularly rememberable. I would call it mediocre. That could also be because I ordered the most simple meal, but I really appreciate a nicely made club sandwich, and this was in no way special. They did, however, have a larger variety of food than I expected, from pulled pork sandwiches to Mac and Cheese bites. The only real problem with this restaurant was the service. I got the impression that they were extremely understaffed, I saw three workers total. However there were only about 2/3 tables of people the entire time I dined there. Even so, the staff didn't seem capable of handling it. We waited forever for our drink order, and we did not get refills unless we flagged someone down--which was nearly impossible as the staff was mostly absent. However, when you did catch a staff member, they were extremely nice. Overall, I would go there again, but not any time soon or at any inconvenience. read more

Normally I would rate this café five stars. The scenery is incredible, with the interior and the exterior of the building looking stunning with its colorful yet peaceful appearance, and the landscape being breathtaking when you're on the inside looking out. The food is also fantastic... a nice variety, very delicious dishes, all at great prices. You don't have to be a pilot or even associated with airplanes to appreciate the entire experience. My choice of food is usually the cheese triangles, and they're delicious! I also love their dessert Clouds and Sunshine, with vanilla ice cream and orange sherbet on a hot orange soda flavored cake and topped with whipped cream. It's my favorite dessert of all time, without a doubt! They have meals to satisfy breakfast, lunch, and dinner cravings, so even if it's a lengthy trip to make, it's definitely worth it on any day. The only reason I'm not giving this café five stars is because of the staff. Up until recently I've found everyone to be nice and friendly, but during my last visit my mind was changed. My friend and I decided to take her boyfriend to this restaurant since he's in from Colorado to visit. Everything was great until my friend and I went outside and he was left inside to pay for his and her meals. The young woman taking the money began to flirt with him by asking if either of us was his girlfriend... when he said yes, she said he should ditch us because he's way better than us, and she'd show him what being in Kentucky is all about. This is terrible behavior in any situation, and doing this while working is even worse, especially when it's unwanted. Aside from that slip-up, which will still make me think twice about visiting in the future, Cloud 9 is one of the best restaurants in eastern Kentucky and I would recommend it to anyone! read more

This is truly an excellent restaurant with a pleasantly unique atmosphere themed around aviation. My favorite menu item is the orange roughy fish (hard to find in this area) and the BBQ ribs are quiet tasty as well. They also have an excellent Philly cheese steak sandwich that can be prepared to your personal preference. The staff is always friendly and helpful which should be very welcoming to curious visitors at the adjacent airport. I try to visit this location monthly since I live about 15miles from the location and am always pleased with the experience! read more

We were taken by some friends ti Cloud 9 a few times when we came here on vacation...loved loved loved the Prime rib!!! we recently moved to the area and had family come for a visit and wanted to treat them to a great prime rib dinner ....we are steak eaters and have had many many prime rib steaks ..i was a meat manager for 10 years and 2 of our guests are in the food business....we ordered 3 prime rib meals but that was NOT the cut of meat we were served ..it was a chunk of top round ..we questioned the waiter about the cut and she sent out the female cook who insisted it was prime rib and its the way they cook it that was what was confusing us ...im sorry but either she doesnt know what her meat cuts are or she was trying to lie her way out of it but we were VERY VERY disappointed and will Never do business there again ..and our bill had always been over 100.00 every time we ate there but this just did it for us !!!! My Dad and I had a delicious lunch at the Cloud 9 Cafe. He ordered chicken tenders and curly fries and says it's the best he's ever eaten! This is quite a compliment since he's a good cook himself and is 93 years old. The service was good and it didn't take very long at all before our lunches were served. read more
