My overall pick for Mexican cuisine Pikeville, KY. The Ambiance offers casual kid friendly but can also serve as a good place to have a celebratory dinner. The staff are friendly and very efficient. Everyone practice safety with wearing a mask and having sanitizer located when you walk in. If you do not want to get out of your car they have a drive thru located on the right side of the building. Ok ok the Food is perfectly seasoned and if your sitting in the restaurant it will be hot (temperature wise that is ). The chips and salsa comes out first and it is complimentary when dinning inside or with certain entrees. The salsa is just ok personally but hey it's complimentary. The margaritas taste good but if your looking for something a little stronger add a shot on the side. The entrees we ordered both came with refried beans, rice, and toppings. The beans and rice taste amazing. Seasoned to Perfection. We had the beef burrito with white cheese and it was delicious. Then we also ordered the Shrimp and Steak fajita. The serving comes with 2 tortillas however order 1 extra set because the serving is enough to make 4. The shrimp were big and juicy. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly for the tortilla. They also have specials. If you are in pikeville and have a taste for Mexican with good prices and a drink this will be the best place to go for where your at. read more

I travel a lot and like to try all good food everywhere. This place, the chef does not care about this restaurants business at all. I ordered a cheese with chicken and steak quesadilla. The food, was bland and boring. The only awesome person was the bartender. Also, clean up your restaurant. There are boxes stacked everywhere. Looks like the beginning of a hoarder house. We stopped for lunch. Was super busy. Salsa and chips were usual and fast. I had shrimp in special sauce (tasted like canned enchilada sauce ) still pretty good. Was served on beans by my choice. Beans were good. Wife had a chicken burrito looked good and she liked it. Seemed to have way more wrap than filling but was good. Saw some old reviews and a few bad ones. Our favorite restaurant in Pikeville until today .. we have eaten there often and loved the food and the service until today - I ordered fajitas el poncho, everything looked great and then I took a bite of the steak and it was inedible- I ate a few bites of the chicken and the shrimp and then brought to the attention of the staff and they acted like I was just saying thanks for a good meal - went to check out and added that we have always loved it there but the steak was unacceptable this time - and the woman replied "huh" and no one else had complained about iiy and gladly took my 47.35 - after I left and went to my car I started thinking ya know this is a little much - I went back in and asked to speak to the manager (as the lady that checked me out said to a man - take care of her ) so I said - I assume you are gonna be the manager huh - he said yea (surprise lol) I told him the same thing and he said yeah went and looked at the steak and it's got a good date on it - and I said ok -BUT it's still on the table we ate at and it's too tough to eat - I added so do you not realize to keep good customers at least you could have knocked 2 -3 dollars off for the steak and be done with it and he said we can't do that because too many people say that - so something that simple to loose Customers over guess don't need our business and will gladly accommodate them - and kind ya we have eaten there 20*+ feel very special for sure read more

I'm giving these folks a 5 star rating for the simple fact that the service was great 2 nights in a row and the food was exceptionally good and proportionate (that's good sized for you un-learned). Seriously though what's not to like? I'm sure this establishment gets its fair share of "Haters" due to the fact that they don't fit the status quo, but come on damnit! If you want good food at a more than reasonable price this is your stop. If you're a small minded "I'm better than everyone else elitist" you need to proudly move on and overspend at a local dive you love because everyone tells you you shoulda done enjoy the CRAP that they slop you with. The food is very under seasoned and the ones that are seasoned is over seasoned. The servers there are very nice, but the kitchen staff cannot follow the orders that are written. We have ordered food before and waited 1 hour to get the correct order for a total of 3 mistaken plates of food. There are some good things on the menu, but the bad outweighs the good. read more

There just don't seem to be a lot of good non-chain food options in Pikeville. This one seemed to have some of the better Yelp reviews (which isn't saying much), so we gave it a go. It's just kind of a basic place. Food is OK, not great. Service is friendly, once you get past the woman at the front who doesn't seem all that happy to have customers. I'd say it's worth going if you're in a pinch, but I've got to think there are better options here. I just couldn't find them during my brief visit. read more

I ordered the chicken and beef taquitos, don't waste your time. It was obvious they had came apart in the fryer and were removed. The tortillas were raw and soggy in the middle and hard ( not crispy) on the ends. The chicken inside was saturated with oil. I ordered cheddar cheese melted on top and they put a nasty, white sour cream looking something on there (which wasn't a cheese at all). I also ordered a cup of queso with chips, the cup turned out to be a 2 oz Ramekin for $3.62. Overall an overpriced, disgusting representation of Mexican food.
