DO NOT SELL HERE! It is a waste of time. Took a whole basket of clothes in nicely washed and folded. Also really nice shoes left got a text message two minutes later that my clothes are ready mind you it is a whole basket of clothes. I come back to only found out they took two items. They didn't look through everything because all the clothes were still nicely folded and they only offered me eight dollars for a brand new Victoria's Secret bra and a brand new pair of new balance shoes. WILL NOT BE BRINGING ANYTHING HERE EVER AGAIN AND I RECOMMEND YOU DO THE SAME!! read more

I've been here several times since they opened but will not be returning. Service was terrible - after a quickly tossed "Hi there" when I entered I didn't hear another Boo from any of the three or four people working. Well, I DID hear much of the chatter between the staff, as they were all congregated behind the counter. Lots of comments about this brand or that, some a bit snotty and arrogant. It seems the business would like to have the notion that they offer plenty of higher end clothes but then you look through the racks and see many, many items from Old Navy, Target, Gap, etc with just a few nicer brands here and there. My arms were loaded with things to try on, and I finally had to find someone to get a dressing room. That was the most interaction I had with any of them. (If you can call turning a key and hearing the clerk say "Here" an interaction.) This was on a quiet afternoon with only one or two other customers. It finally became almost a test/game for me to see just how long it would take for ANY sort of comment or consideration from the staff. (After working in retail over 20 years, including having my own store, customer service is a very big factor in whether I will return to a shop) I was in there for an hr total and did buy a scarf. "Oh are you ready to check out?" was the extent of their interest in customer care. I am not saying they should be hovering or overly aggressive, because that's a different end of the service scale that is annoying in its own way. They should however at least be aware of customers and check now and then if anyone needs anything or has questions. There is a proper balance that they seem very unaware of. Definitely, some staff training is needed as this is not the first time it has happened. For me however (and for others I know a well) it will be the last. I am happy to take my business elsewhere. read more

As it is weekend, I spent some time sorting out clothes I could bring in to possible sell. I checked the website for information and checked store hours . After spending 45 minutes traveling there, I arrived midday. Piles of sorted out clothes in hand I walked in hopeful that I may sell some. Immediately a staff member walked up to me, did not even greet me, but told me , looking at the heavy load I was carrying " we are not buying today". I told her that the website does not state that they don't buy on weekends. She replied that I would have to come back on Tuesday and just walked away. After spending a fair amount of time driving there, getting a rude "greeting" and being blown off, I ended up driving to the Salvation Army and just donated. ( designer items, some used, some never with tags on it) . I work two jobs during the week and I didn't appreciate this treatment and my time wasted, and would not want this store to make any profit . read more

My wallet is in trouble. Clothes Mentor has a huge selection of gently used clothes, shoes and accessories. The staff is wonderful. They greet everyone that walks in the door but are not pushy and in your face while you're trying to shop. It's clean and well-priced. I will return again and again. And again. read more

I finally got a chance to check this place out yesterday. Very nice store, lots of items and well organized. I picked up a pair of jeans for $20 and a top for $9 and a purse for $12. I'm going to go through my closet and bring some stuff in. Time for spring cleaning. Excellent selection of larger sizes too. read more

I sold and shopped for clothes for my first time at Clothes Mentor this evening. I finally gave up my dream of ever being a size 4 again and brought all my pre-pregnancy wardrobe in to be appraised. The woman working was super friendly and helpful- I wish I caught her name to give her a shout out! Anyways, it took about 20 minutes to go through the laundry basket full of items I had brought in. While my items were evaluated I shopped around the store. I was super impressed with the quality and the large quantity of clothes! They had so many great brands and even specialty sizing (petite and maternity- yahoo!) They took about half the items I brought in and offered $45 cash or $55 in store credit. I was happy with this offer and went with the store credit. She even gave me a suggestion of another local consignment store to bring some items that were geared towards a more "juniors" crowd. I can't wait to go back and use my in store credit at a later time. Thanks for a wonderful experience! read more

Don't wast your time here. Staff is very unfriendly and rude. I was looking for an outfit and asked for an opinion on what top would look better and the lady said she couldn't help me with that. I also didn't like how you could hear the employees talking bad about customers and making fun of the clothing that they brought in. Just because your not a fan of something dos t mean you have to make fun of people that are. read more

I have consigned and purchased clothing, accessories and jewelry on numerous occassions. I have always had a negative feeling towards how little they offer you for your very nice, practically new clothes (gorgeous, worn twice j.crew sweater for $4). Yet, Rochester is limited in their consignment shops, so I thought something was better than nothing. Today was the last day I will shop there. Upon being turned down for a return, I was met with rude, unapologetic responses to their policies. Two days ago I purchased shoes that I could not try on (the shoes I was wearing were not easy to get on and off). I explained sheepishly at the checkout that I couldn't try the shoes on because of my current shoe situation. I was not told that they have a ZERO return policy on shoes, etc. The receipt that printed AFTER I purchased the shoes supposedly stated that, but nothing could have been done at that point anyway. When being informed that the shoes I said I could not try on, whose receipt/policy was printed after I purchased them, the workers barely looked up from their register without care for the situation at hand. The only option was that they buy back the shoes that had left the bag only for a meer two seconds on carpet at 30%. I declined donating $25 to them. I don't recommend consigning your clothes here, or making over-priced purchases, especially considering their deceitful return policy. read more

Very bad experience. Cassandra was the sales clerk that "helped" me. So unfriendly she was almost rude! After looking through my items she said "Unfortunately we cannot take anything since it's past our 2-3 year old policy" with quite the arrogant attitude. What a scam! I have lost weight the past year and most of the clothing was too large for me, not worn very much and definitely name brand (Levi, Gloria Vanderbilt, Alfred Dunner, Jill & Christie, etc.), shoes worn once and even a leather purse (never used). I highly advise against shopping or selling here. read more

I brought a couple of items into the store 2 times and each time I was told I could take cash or if I wanted a store credit I could receive 25% more. Both times they told me if I changed my mind at any time and didn't want to buy anything in the store and wanted the cash to just come in and they would give me the cash which would be the lesser amount since I wouldn't be using it in the store. I did this and they would NOT give me the cash! They said I must have heard them wrong and proceeded to compare that conversation with the game of TELEPHONE we used to play in school! I've never been treated so unprofessionally anywhere before and I am 75 years old. They talked down to me and said I absolutely heard them wrong. If I heard them wrong so did my husband who was with me at the cash register both times they told me this. I will never GIVE them any more clothes or buy any from them. I say GIVE because that's what you do. They give you next to nothing for beautiful things brought to them. Next time I will donate the items to Salvation Army or Purple Heart and make a lot of people happy including me! They are so condescending and arrogant. NOT a fun place to shop. read more
