First, I like to support local and Clothes Mentor was close. My first experience was when I took several purses, Kate Spade, Coach, Michael Kors and they took none of them. Luckily I took them to another resale and happily was able to sell them. Second attempt today .... And they took nothing. Several items worn once. I would not recommend this place. Waste of my time. I shop there so I'm aware of what they sell, and I took quite a haul of clothing to sell. I went thru everything very carefully for stains, wear, tears, missing buttons - everything. Of everything I took them - lots of new stuff w tags, designer items included etc - they took two dresses and two necklaces. $21. Even worse, like others have stated, I felt very judged by their demeanor and comments - not in style, had a "storage" smell (not sure what that means- everything had been hanging in a closet and clean), etc etc. I couldn't believe it - and could kick myself for even trying. Before I dropped off, I checked their site, which said they take spring/summer items January-July. The young woman checking me in said the site's not always current and they start taking those items in February. I pointed out that it is in fact February. They never looked through one of the bins. I've taken nice name brand clothing and shoes to sell and when I go to pick my items up they either can't take any or they barely take some because "they have a hard time selling the items" or "they aren't in style" when I've looked through the racks and find myself thinking "wtf is this" when finding something. I also don't understand how they will turn away spring/summer items because they "aren't in season" you do realize you can wear tank tops and short sleeved shirts year round right? I took 4 boxes of clothing in the store and they told me they didn't take junior clothing after making me wait for them to go through the boxes for over 24 hours it doesn't say anything about them not taking junior clothing on the website and I called about information on selling clothing and never once did they mention that they didn't take juniors clothing read more

Horrible customer service! I went in to sell some items and a fair amount of them were name brand, JCrew, DKNY, Ralph Lauren, and Lacoste. I also had some barely worn boots and heels. (which are in season). Black pants and several skirts and maxi dresses. They wanted absolutely nothing! When I checked in the girl at the register would not look me in the eye. Same situation when I "checked out" They acted cold and rude. Acted as though my stuff was not good enough for the store. Um, I'm sorry, but this is a resale store, hello? My stuff was given back to me the same order as I brought in. Almost appeared as they did not go through them. Everything was folded perfectly. Shady! Rude maean girls~! Bad attitudes! I hadn't heard about Clothes Mentor until someone at another resale store recommended I take my clothing there, but I'm so glad I know about it now! I'm in my mid- to late-twenties and my clothing is primarily from the women's section, so when I went to try to sell some of my gently used clothing to some of the downtown thrift stores, they passed on more of my business casual/business professional items. Clothes Mentor, however, was looking for pieces just like that! They exclusively buy and sell women's clothing (not men's and not juniors), have a wide selection, and give you a good price for what they take. They're the "big sister" of Plato's Closet, so it's easy to transition from selling clothing at Plato's to selling clothing at Clothes Mentor. The staff at this location were incredibly friendly, efficient, and a pleasure to work with! They also offered some seating in the store, which my significant other appreciated. I browsed their selection while I waited for them to look through my clothing and was surprised to see a great selection of designer purses in great condition and a low price! The store itself was well organized and carried a variety of items from workout gear to business wear and dresses to shoes. I'll definitely be back, both to sell and to shop! read more

I used to shop here when I needed a few items but didn't want to spend a lot of money. Their selection was ok for the price. most of their clothes smell, are ugly in general, out of style or have stains which one would expect from a second hand store. So I never understood when I would take nice, hardly worn clothes in and they wouldn't take them. When I had sold some items there they only give me a couple dollars but then put a large price tag on what I sold. over the past few years they've "remodeled" they're brand and consider themselves upscale which they still aren't. Their clothes are still the same used quality but with a larger price tag. The last time I bought a couple things there, after I got home I noticed one sweater had a hole in it and the other had a stain. Also the purse I purchased had tampons and dirty tissues in it. They obviously don't check the items well. I packed a bunch of items to take in just to be told they weren't accepting anymore items after standing in line waiting to drop off. I called this time to make sure they were taking stuff this time so I didn't waste a trip and was told they were taking summer shoes, workout shoes and purses whuch was perfect bc that's what I was dropping off. every item I dropped off was either brand new or had been worn a couple times. I had brand new Michael Kor shoes and purses, new Kate Spade purse, Sperry's, Puma, (to name a few) everything name brand and in excellent condition. They didn't buy a single item from the 2 bags of stuff I took in. Naturally I was mad and asked why, they said everything was "well-loved.". I told them that's a lie bc it's a new. Clothes Mentor is a joke and a rip off. I'd shop at Goodwill any day before going to CM especially the way they are fixing up all the Goodwills. They have really nice stuff including name brand items and they're in great condition. CM is buying expensive items from people, paying them a couple cents then selling them for almost full price. Their buying prices are a lot lower than they used to be. Are used to get at least three if not more dollars per item. The last time I went they gave me barely two dollars. They don't wanna buy anything that is considered low end even if it has tags. read more

I have had 2 back-to-back horrible experiences at this location so I feel it was fair to review them. I previously had a horrible experience when trying to return an item. I returned within the one week return policy and had my receipt and tags attached. They told me they were nonreturnable because I bought them during a certain sale. I expressed my frustration because no one ever told me that they were nonreturnable. The girl huffed and puffed and rolled her eyes at me. I pointed out the lady in the store that checked me out in the original transaction, as it was just a few days before. Of course she didn't remember me. I told them that it was completely unacceptable for them to not return the items. No communication was given to me in the receipt I had had the return policy so it was safe for me to assume they were returnable. The lady behind the counter possibly the store manager, acted all salty and processed my return. I recently decided to go back to sell some items. They now have a By option where you can get 25% more if you take store credit. I had an offer of $75 with the store credit or $50 without. I was purchasing a scarf for four dollars. I told the worker I wanted the cash option as I would not use the in-store credit with my purchase of four dollars. She looked at me like I was crazy and explained that I could carry a credit balance on my account and use it later. She treated me horribly for taking the cash option and laughed at me twice during the back and forth of why I wouldn't take the store credit option. She was so rude and even had other customers looking at us. They are obviously now paying even less for items you take in to sell and are really pushing the store credit option. So frustrating. Allow me to do what I want with my payout and don't try to force me into your new option that isn't a good deal at all! The way I look at selling things is it is free money. I don't expect any amount as it's more than if I donated - but it's really getting sad at how little they pay, especially knowing and seeing what they turn around and sell it for. Recently went in Sunday 6/23 - had 2 full carts full of clothes being purchased. Was checked out by 1 lady and I told her this Nike bag I was wanting to purchase was for my husband who is on crutches and I was afraid he wouldn't like it and if it'd be okay to return it. Clothes Mentor in Dublin is a phenomenal resale shop. The selection of clothing (both designer and retail) is phenomenal and reasonably priced. The staff is willing to negotiate with you when purchasing used items from customers. This store carries both designer and name brand labels of clothing, accessories, handbags and shoes. They also carry jewelry and smaller leather goods. The sales staff, which includes the site manager, is personable, knowledgeable and polietely answers questions from customers. read more

I went to the Clothes Mentor in Dublin and had a wonderful shopping experience. All three sales Associates were kind and helpful. I was greeted with a hello when I walked in the store, and then Rea assisted me with the location for the maternity clothes and the dressing room. A third woman (sorry I did not get her name) walked me to where their duster sweaters were. The store is very clean and well organized. I liked that they would show you where things were instead of saying down this way, or that way. By the time I left I felt like all the ladies were good friends with me. They did buy some things, but not at fair pricing. I kinda knew that's how it works though. The really large girl was pretty rude. When I lifted stuff up in the buy box she told me "don't do that, we have it all organized" In other words, just take the money and don't try and figure out what I am getting for what I am paying you for. She was pretty rude and assumptive......it seems she was agitated also after I had been there an hour and I asked if they were close to being done with mine. I was told 45 minutes... She answered and stated in a rude tone...."we can text you, as we said." At one point the Jessica Simpson purse was held up to the manager and they whispered to each other.......then that was one of the items they bought. Negative 5 stars! By far the worst store I've ever been to!! I don't mean the pricing or selling to them. I mean customer service or should I say lack of! Rude sales clerks! Unless you come in wearing Louie or dressed like you have money you will not be treated well or at all. It was literally like a scene from Pretty Woman. My sister & I went in after work, as she wanted to sell items, we were told to hang out in the store & they would price the things right away. That never happened. We walk up an hour & a half later and no one ever even touched her bin of items. In that time I had shopped through the store and found a couple things that I wanted to buy. I waited by the check out for 20-30 mins before even getting any type of help. The ladies At the counter made sure to help people who wanted high price things out of the cases but never asked if I needed help. Then when someone finally did help she was rude as if she didn't want to. She asked for my phone number and I gave it. She responds so are you in the systems or what? Not sure what you mean. She then insisted I sign up for the rewards program. I declined and told her no thanks I wouldn't be back. She then, only then did she start trying to be nice. I'm a very humble person so I don't need to boast my income but respect for all customers no matter how they look after a long day at work. I'll never shop there again! read more

Love this place!! The selection is great and you can easily find what you are looking for. They have women's clothes by designer and color. Took my 12-yr old daughter with me and she found a bunch of great stuff. She said she doesn't want to shop at the mall anymore- just here! We bought 3 jeans, 3 sweaters (one of them Ralph Lauren cardigan), & 3 pullovers (one was Columbia) for under $100 I even saw North Face clothing there and saw over 200 pairs of jeans! Was cold when I got there and made a point to say everything was name brand. I was fine with this as everything I had was Ralph Lauren, tommy, Calvin Klein, banana republic, Talbots and other name brands. When they were done they offered me $7 for two items and went in a rant about the other items are out of style, over two years old etc even articles with tags on them. The women were rude. I was looking to sell some Lilly Pulitzer which is not cheap. When I dropped off the woman was cold towards me and seemed annoyed when I had questions about when it would be ready to pickup. I went back and they were only offering me $60 for all of my items. I was kind of surprised so I asked if I could know what they were buying each of MY items for. The woman looked at me like I asked her to do something ridiculous. She said "well what stuff" and was annoyed when I asked to know the prices of my Lilly items. Anytime I've sold at Plato's closet they are more than willing to go through all the items and make sure I'm okay with everything. This woman could not be bothered. I then decided to pass on all the Lilly items because they were offering $4 or less for each item (I've received a much higher offer from Plato's closet in the past and I think it's understandable considering these items are expensive!) I apologized and took the money for the items I had decided to sell. There was no thank you, no have a nice day, nothing. If that's how you treat people who are selling to you then you're not going to continue to receive product!!! The workers behind the counter as I was taking my items back were talking about how they priced the items high, giving me dirty looks and clearly talking shit. Do NOT go here! I had a horrible experience at my local clothes mentor. When I took my clothes in, I decided to stay in the store and wait till they were done evaluating everything. The whole time the workers were making rude comments about the items. In particular they were being rude about the sizes of my items. They were holding them up to themselves and each other saying how tiny and how no one would fit in them. This was a trigger for me for I was selling them because they no longer fit. They also kept saying the stuff I was selling was not current enough even though the stores I bought them for are still selling similar and exact pieces! They wanted to offer me only $27 for 2 pairs of J crew jeans, 2 J Crew shorts, and 2 Michael Kors Jeans ....No thank you. Would have been a better experience if the workers were nicer and knew more about what they were buying. read more

Stopped in yesterday to drop off some clothes to sell. This is a very big location, possibly the biggest in Columbus. Everything is very clean, organized and not overly crowded. They have a ton of shoes, purses, scarves, jewelry and of course tons of clothes. I wasn't a fan of the clothes selection right now, but it looks like they are still adding more hanger space and are definitely in buying mode! I have had two negative experiences at the Clothes Mentor in Westerville, OH. A few months ago, I stood in line to purchase one item. There was a lady in front of me who had many items, and naturally, the woman at the cash register took time to ring everything up. I was not so much bothered by the amount of time I had to wait because of another customer's items, but I was bothered that I had to wait when I saw that there was at least one other woman working behind the counter who was evaluating items to sell. She looked at me a couple times, and although I do not know for sure, I think it was pretty obvious that I only had one item to check out, and the process would be pretty quick. She did not come over to ring my item out. The woman at the cash register and her were talking casually, not seeming to care that I only had one item and was behind someone with a lot of items. Then, as I finally got up to the cash register, another customer came to the woman who was about to ring me out to ask if someone could open up the dressing room for her. The lady at the cash register said, "hang on, I need to put on my shoes." I looked down and saw that her bare feet were on the carpet, and not only did I have to wait even longer (past fifteen minutes) to have a door unlocked for someone else, but I had to wait for her to put on HER SHOES. Finally, the other associate behind the counter who was evaluating items to sell offered to ring out my item, and I was on my way. Also, a couple weeks ago, my husband went to pick up an online order for me. They seemed to be puzzled by his question, and it took them a while to find it in the back room. I'm all about supporting local businesses and resale stores, but the unprofessionalism at Clothes Mentor (at least in Westerville) is unreal, and the shopping experience is so frustrating that I feel desperate for a deal, and I'd rather not go because the associates are clique-ish, and don't really seem to care about their customers. The Clothes Mentor website also does not have an option to give feedback; customers can fill out a survey, but they can't submit written feedback to explain specifics of their experiences. I may check out other locations, but unless I'm in the mood to not care about poor customer service, I most likely will not be back at the Westerville location. read more
