The only issue is had this time (3rd time using Closet Finish for my closet upgrades) was the lack of communication. I paid my deposit and then I had to continuously reach out for updates, which is not typical behavior for Mark. Fast forward a couple of weeks and my closets were finally finished. We asked questions to get a feeling of what we may need and came up with a layout. My wife has been asking for a custom closet for some time now. But I didn't want to spend the money. Four months ago, my closet collapsed leaving clothes, shoes and boxes all over the place. I quickly fix it myself but after it collapsed again a few month later, I finally agreed to open up my wallet and grant her wish. I checked Yelp and requested quotes from several places. For a week, we had several companies come to house and provide customized quotes for our walk in closet. All quotes were fairly comparable to each other, with the exception of one, Closet Finish. We wanted top of line quality and Closet Finish provided that at a great price. The owner of the company, Mark came to our home the same day I requested the quote. He showed up on time, was polite and professional. He was respectful and wore a mask the entire time. With great reviews from prior customers, we decided to commit to the project. He gave us professional designs via email the very next day. We asked for slight revisions and he accommodated immediately with new designs. We paid the deposit and the install date was set about a week after. Mark and his team came to the house at 7am on a Saturday morning and took about 6 hours to complete. The final results is outstanding. We couldn't be any happier. My daughters loved our closet so much they are begging me to redo theirs as well. I'll have to think about that one. I had a great experience with Closet Finish! After I met with Mark, I went ahead and canceled all of my other appointments with various closet designers. I own enough commercial buildings and do enough renovations and construction to know that Mark offers a fair price. I asked for 2 designs, one for my dream walk in closet (I converted a bedroom into a closet) and one to renovate the master bedroom closet for my husband. Mark was able to get me the designs by the next day. We went through a couple changes, and he was accommodating and easy to reach each time. After we finalized the designs, Mark and his team were able to finish both closets in 2 business days. They did a fantastic job, and kept the work area clean. I was also redo-ing my floors at that time, and Mark was able to work around my other contractors with no problems. He was always on time, charming and friendly. After a smaller business quoted me way beyond what I felt like was reasonable, I almost went with a big company to do my master closet -- they had a 50% off sale -- but I just couldn't wrap my head around their terrible reviews. He did a measurement for 5 closets in my house, couple days later, he emailed me the design. We made a few modification. Once we finalized the design on Thursday, Mark managed to come over on Saturday to install the 1st floor closet, because I told him that we need that one for my in-laws as soon as possible. This was by far one of the most unprofessional experiences I have ever had. The first time I called Mark, we scheduled an appointment for him to come out during a weekend. I change my schedule and plans around to accommodate the time frame because I really wanted my closets redone. The day he was supposed to come, he calls me, and tells me he can't come anymore and asks if he can come the next day. I figured we all have issues every now and then and I said yes to him coming the next day. He looked at my closets, asked what I needed and said he would send me some sketches in two weeks. Two weeks come and go and I hear nothing from him. I e-mailed him to see why I hand't received anything, his response was, I did send them to you, I don't know why you didn't get them. I'll check again when I get home. Two days later, he sends me another e-mail, oh the person that does the sketches is behind and I'll send those over to you soon. So...he lied to me, he didn't send them. Great. I should have taken this as a sing of what was ahead. He finally sends me the sketches, and let him know, we will be redoing 7 of the 8 closets in my home. He asks me for a deposit just before Christmas, he says he has to order the materials etc. So I give him a hefty deposit for the work and he says, I will get everything ordered so we can be ready to go. The installation was delayed due to rain, which is fine, that's not his fault. What happened after definitely is. Originally he said the installation would take at least one week because of the number of closets. The day before the installation, he calls me and he says, OK, we should be done in two days. I said, are you sure, just two days. He says, yeah, that's all we need. Since I have had crews of people at my house for various other projects, I think, OK, maybe he hired more people. He said, we will be at your house at 9am. I made sure I was awake and ready, I took the day off work, I got my family out of the door early for the day. 9am came and went, then it was 10am and 10:30, so I called him. He said, they got delayed at the warehouse and that they would be here by noon. The installer did not arrive until almost 1:30. I'm fuming, but it's not the installers fault. He comes in, takes down the closet that's already there and tells me he should be done with my two closet by the next day. I look at him and say, you mean 7 closets. Apparently Mark only set up to do 2 closets, my master closet, and the one closet in the house I told him we did not want remodeled. I had to once again call Mark, he laughed it off and said, he would need to postpone the installment because he would need to order the materials for the other 5 closets. So...why did I give you a deposit in December. It's mid February and this is still not done and you admit you didn't do your job correctly. So we postpone again, and I want to remind you that in all of this time, I'm living in chaos because everything that should be in my closets is sprawled all over various rooms and floors in my house. Were going into March, and he finally has all the materials, the installer comes back, and he begins to install my closets. When he begins the installation for the Master bedroom, mind you, he's only following the orders and sketches. He builds the closet over the light switch in the closet. So now..I can't turn on the lights. I had to call Mark, and ask why on earth he would build a closet over a light switch, so he had to call the installer to redo that part of the closet. Even the installer is getting upset at this point. He continues to build closets, one day I come home when he's building one of the last closets and I say, that's not the closet I ordered. He shows me the clear e-mail and sketches given to him by Mark. It was the closet he sketched for the room I told him clearly, multiple times, over the phone, in person and through email, that we were NOT doing. He installed a closet in my office, where I had asked him to just put up shelving. When I called him that day to ask why he had done that, he basically asked, well what do you want me to do. The materials have already been used. So I ended up having to keep what was built, no apology, to attempt at correction. In addition, because this is not a full service job, my closets look super unprofessional, the walls are covered in holes from the removal of the old shelves, they are cracked and patchy and it makes the whole installation look atrocious. I want to end by saying, that Mark was in fact a friendly person, which is maybe why I tolerated so much of what was going on. The installer was really wonderful and I could tell he was just as fed up as I was with all the errors and inconsistencies that were happening. I have a pretty high level of tolerance, and very rarely give bad reviews, which I hope gives you a sense of how frustrating this whole situation was for me and my family. We went through the process- pretty easy to talk to about what you want, asks what you want and goes through what you have and what you'd need to be stored in the closet. As he was leaving, he apologized for being late & he reassured me that he has everything in stock (material wise). My mom called after we got the estimate & he requested the deposit, WHICH we informed at the beginning of the CONSULTATION- we don't use Zelle (banking issues) but we have checks available. We asked him if it would delay the entire process by a lot because the project time he gave us was 2 weeks. Then when we REMINDED him about the checks rather than Zelle, all of a sudden he said he can't guarantee a 2 week time frame anymore.
