The designer and our contact, Sarah, did an amazing job, and was SO HELPFUL (and patient, as we determined the best solution). The installers, Moe and Price, were EXCEPTIONAL. The result is perfect; we cannot find one flaw (and we are pretty picky)! The unit takes up an entire wall, and it's gorgeous. We could not be more pleased. I want to express my disappointment with the service and product provided by the Chantilly location. As a returning customer who had a positive experience with another location, I expected the same high standards of professionalism and quality, but my recent experience was quite different. 1. The initial product I received did not match what was agreed upon. I expected a custom closet solution, but the result was below expectations until my requests were partially addressed. They initially installed shelves and rods that did not move! The mission of their entire company is adjustability with paneled units to move up/down as needed, so I'm dumbfounded by what they initially installed. 2. The designer assigned to my project was difficult to work with and doesn't seem to have the aptitude to handle being questioned. Communication was poor, and at one point, I even received a message from the designer that was clearly meant for her boss, which was both unprofessional and uncomfortable. 3. I had to continually push to have my concerns addressed. Although the closets were mostly fixed in the end, this should not have been necessary. I felt this process was far more difficult and stressful than it should have been. I hope this feedback helps future customers avoid the same frustrations, and I strongly urge your company to improve the service and communication standards at the Chantilly location. You know how you have high hopes to have a great experience with a business and then when you finally meet with a consultant from there and it turns out to be everything you had thought could go wrong? I'm sorry but please don't treat customers as if we are a waste of time. Okay so my experience: They were able to schedule an appointment well. So that's good. They sent over templates that I could fill out and to draw out my closet blueprint. Okay cool you all got it together. And then the appointment happened...The consultant didn't even look at any of the forms or drawings I provided to her prior to our meeting. Why did I fill it out then? When I met with her she said, "sorry I didn't get a chance to fully look over what you sent" so pretty much the whole time we were in the virtual meeting she was drawing out my closet. I understand at some point we have to work out a plan together. But like from start to finish? It was literally me watching her for an hour+ to put a CAD drawing together. When I went through the list of items I would like to have, she pretty much implied that I can't afford it. The funny thing is this was the only project for my new home that I really wanted to invest in. The reason why I wanted to write this is for those that are interested in the process and would really love a new closet. It sucks because after meeting with Closet Factory I have no interest in doing this anymore. When I met with the consultant she's like yeah everyone is working from home now and wants to spend money on closets.... Stay away! We got closets put in in February and 3 months later we are still dealing with issues and our closet is still not done. My husband requested for 2 days to fix our closet and was told it'd only take 1 when indeed they needed 2 to do the job correctly. When I met with the designer, I told her right away that they better send their best installers bc we will know if they short cut. For the amount we are paying for our closet we expect top notch installers and for the product to be seamless, it's not. And when we've reached out to have the owners to contact us, crickets. At this point the customer service is awful and they couldn't care less about their customers. We had to move out of our closet last week, everything, for them to fix it and my husband's side is still not done and can't move back in. Absolutely ridiculous. If they just listened the first time, I wouldn't have to write this review. The designer was great but it all went downhill from there! We expect the owners to call us STAT! read more

The person that quoted my job for a closet and garage design was less than reputable. The person whose name was Lida canceled two visits and gave me a first quote that was reasonable and a second quote that was 300% higher than the original. I do not find this company to be legit. I wanted a simple garage design and to optimize two small closets. First quote was 10k for all. Third quote was 30k and all she showed me was a simple set of cabinets. I hired Closed Factory to install a custom bedroom walk-in closet, kitchen panty, and office built-in shelving unit. The design and sales experience was great! Everything after was unfortunately disappointing. Each project installation was met with considerable issues, include installing mismatching shelving in the bedroom closet, not completing the project due to not having the appropriate materials ordered and ready in the office and kitchen pantry, and worst of all - the flooring and walls In my kitchen were significantly damaged. Ultimately, I cannot recommend this company and would encourage DMV neighbors to consider local competitors at this time. BUYER BEWARE!!! Upon moving into my home (new construction approximately 4 years ago) I had 3 of the 4 bedroom closets designed and installed by Closet Factory. The consultation, design and installation process was completed efficiently and without challenge, plus Closet Factory is so confident about their work and product that they offer a lifetime warranty (winning, right?) Fast forward 4 years later, when I need to use the lifetime warranty, because 2 of 4 drawers on one of the dressers in the master bedroom closet will not remain closed. When I spoke to a representative, I was instructed to send an email (to include a picture of the issue) and I was informed that it would be 6 to 8 weeks BEFORE a repair date would be scheduled because "they are extremely busy with installations." I am now approximately 6-7 weeks from the initial communication and request for repair; however, no date for repair has been schedule, nor have I received follow up communication from the representative or anyone from the company to address the request/concern. In a follow up conversation (initiated by me) I was informed by the same representative that a repair date still can not be scheduled as there is no work being done in my area and the provision of a repair wouldn't be likely until February 2022 at best, again "because they are extremely busy." I say all this to say, "BUYER BEWARE!" The consultation, design process, and installation will likely be efficient and flawless, but if it ever comes down to actually needing to use the warranty you may just be out of luck - as this has not been an efficient or customer friendly process in the least. read more

Our designer, Jodi, did a great job. We had two very large MBR closets, one extremely so. The mix of racks, shelves, drawers and doors turned out better than expected. Plus she engineered a peninsula that saved us some walking space without sacrificing storage. The construction crew was very good. No complaints at all. They called ahead of visiting, wore masks, covered floors and completed both closets in less than 2 days. All the parts and pieces were available so no delays. They gave us a good review on how to reorient rods and shelves and how to clean the cabinets without damaging the surfaces. The granite counter subcontractor, Terra Stoneworks, was also excellent. The techs were very polite, measurement was perfect and they completed the install in an hour. We had a great overall experience. read more

While our designer was amazing the execution and building process was terrible. We were having several areas done in our new house. We narrowed it down to Closet factory and Closets by Design. Although Closet Factory was a little more expensive I decided to go with them for our huge master closet and use Closets by Design for other closet and office because I loved the closet factory designer. Closet factory took longer to set up installation, once here they had ordered the wrong materials for a couple items, used our garage as a work station and left sawdust all over our belongings and the final product is lacking. We paid over $15k for the master closet and shouldn't have these bandaid type fixes. It appears they messed up the measurements and instead and correcting it tried to patch. This is also after several trips by the manager out to our property to try to resolve. While this seems nice it was a huge inconvenience as we both work. While the customer service was great at first, they took our final payment without authorization and wouldn't respond to me after I complained about the overall finished product and timeline. We had CF design and install a closet system for our master bedroom. We got a design and quote from them and another company, and CF won out because we liked CF's consultant better and their final price required far less gimmicks then the other company. CF's design consultant had an initial hour-long visit to measure and discuss our spaces (we initially considered having our laundry room done too), returned a week later with a design, came back again, per our request, to do more revisions on the design, and set up an install approximately three weeks from our payment. The installer was at our house from 10am-6pm. We had removed our existing wire racks, spackled holes, and painted before he arrived. We are very pleased with our final product. The floor-to-ceiling design looks very top notch. -1 star for no financing options available at our time of purchase (we have since been informed they are now available). read more

The designer I worked with was so difficult, I gave up and paid 25% more with another company. A dozen emails and the designer still didn't make the changes I wanted. She insisted on telling me what she thought I wanted. The designer's manager called to try to save the relationship, but really, who wants to deal with that? I need to share my positive experience with Closet Factory. I worked with Ronna Rosenberg and Nick Connell. Ronna was my designer. Nick was my installer. This was an all-star combination, and I recommend both of them for their high-quality work and excellent customer service. I first met with Ronna to go over design ideas. She walked through my home, looked at the possibilities, and came up with ideas immediately. She had a catalog of materials on her, showed me what we could do, and then talked me through the options. She helped me visualize the possibilities for my closets, all the while making it clear that she was doing her best to maximize the available closet space. She was kind, funny, and endlessly patient with my questions. Then we scheduled the installation, and I got to work with Nick. Nick showed up on time, was prepared, and worked flawlessly. He is the consummate professional; consistently working as quickly as possible to minimize the stress on my household. When issues arose, he dealt with them with a smile. Both Nick and Ronna have a wonderful ability to think on their feet, which is critical when doing something as complicated as closet design and installation. They ended up having to do the installation in two parts because there was, naturally, a significant complication during the process: one of my closet walls had been damaged by a prior resident of my apartment months before the installation and the wall needed repair and I didn't know about it! But rather than derail the process, everyone involved shined. Nick immediately diagnosed the issue, and called Ronna. Ronna immediately let me know what I needed to do, and then Closet Factory was extremely kind to me: rather than charge me for an additional installation visit, they assured me that they would return to finish the process after I had remedied the issue. Even though custom closets from closet factory are not cheap, they were worth it in my opinion. When it comes to permanent structures in your home, you get what you pay for. I purchased a closet from Closet Factory that was white in color. After about ten years it started to change colors. It is now yellow on the face of all the closets and drawers. The company gives you a "lifetime Guarantee" against defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the home. I called and sent pictures of the yellow fronts on the closets. They told me that over time the WHITE CLOSETS WILL CHANGE COLORS. The lifetime guarantee does not cover this so buyers beware. They don't tell you this when you purchase white closets. read more

We had an appointment for a consultation last Monday January 7th. The designer arrived and told us he forgot his tape measurer and didn't want to drive back to go get it so he asked to use ours. Only problem is we just moved into our new house and had no idea where anything really was, we had just used our tape measurer recently but couldn't find it immediately as we thought the designer would be bringing one. After about 15 minutes of trying to find it and not having any luck the designer asked my husband to continue looking for the tape measurer while we went downstairs to talk to me about the design. Meanwhile he's asking me how to design the closet without my husband present as he was still searching for the damn tape measurer and I felt so uncomfortable. The designer wasn't even all that nice to begin with. He asked to see the closet design that my husband and I created together and the moment he saw it he said "that won't work" and completely dismissed our design that we worked hard on creating. The designer insisted on knowing exactly how many feet of hanging space that we needed in our closet. We had no idea how much hanging space we needed since we haven't unpacked our clothes yet because we wanted to have a closet installed before unpacking. We told him we wanted to use all the space on one wall for hanging and he still insisted on knowing the exact amount of feet we needed, he said he was "designing blind" if he didn't know the amount of footage. Isn't that his job to figure out? He also said that he would create the design and we would have to drive about 45 minutes to their show room to view the design. 15 minutes later he asks our budget and he scoffs and says "oh I can't even make the drawers for that price" It was such a horrible experience. After almost giving up, we called another company and they sent someone who took measurements, made a gorgeous design and showed us the design on a laptop while still at my house. We should be finalizing our changes within the next few days. read more

A year later, we wanted to put in custom cabinets and our neighbor happened to be at one of her friends house where Michelle was doing an installation of their cabinets. My neighbor said I should contact Michelle Langley at Closet Factory as she is very good. I'm glad I did. What a comeback! She was very professional, friendly, prompt and very responsive. In addition, she worked within our budget. She even gave us 3 different design options with beautiful computerized drawing and detailed pricing -- all the information she provided in the quote and design gave us ammunition to make an informed decision. When you know your old closet needs an upgrade, look no further than the Closet Factory in Tysons. We considered doing it ourselves by checking out some of their competition, but when I considered the complexity of the end result that we imagined, we gave CF the call. The appointment was kept as scheduled by Moogie K., the CF designer. We discussed what we wanted and showed her our 30-year-old closet. She made some quick measurements and then a sketch that incorporated everything we wanted and a little more. She made more measurements which she turned into a set of drawings that brought our imagination to life in black and white. We were very fortunate to meet Moogie because of her insightful warm personality and her attention to detail that moved our ideas into a grand plan. We approved the plan which was then sent to the CF factory and we were given an estimated delivery date. Moogie accommodated our budget by considering that we would do the demolition, trash disposal, and repainting all of which was not a problem for me. She returned to make final measurements and noted that our paint (white) was shiny and dry before the job was started. (We passed her inspection.) The CF installer, Morris, arrived ahead of the estimated time and set the installation in process. It took him about five hours because we had our closet totally ready for the new and much improved shelving design. When he was finished, it looked just like her drawing--picture perfect!!! Moogie stopped by to see her finished design which met all the criteria that the engineer in her soul would want to put in place. This closet will be here for as long as our house is here. Love my new clostets! The total experience from planning the closet to the installaton was excellent. Carin, my designer was so helpful and great to work with. She ended up having to do two different measures and sets of designs (I was working with new construction and my place ended up differeing significantly from the model). But she was pleasant and didn't seem to mind the extra effort one bit. I felt like she really cared about my project and was always consious of my goals and helping me get exactly what I wanted. I rarely write reviews, but in this case, I had to because of the great design and service provided by Deb Broockerd and her team. We have undergone a total house renovation with a modern aesthetic and Closet Factory came through on all fronts. The work was for our mud room and home office. During the design process, we were deciding between Closet by Design, California Closets, and a few other companies (all of which were companies we used/trusted in the past for our previous home), but Closet Factory beat the competition on all fronts - design, materials selections, and price! Deb came out and understood our needs right away, and in a matter of days, she was able to nail down the exact design we wanted. She is not a designer that has to get everything her way. She listened to us and our ideas, worked through various alternatives, and even spent a good deal of time trying to find the exact "modern" legs we were looking for! She was upfront and honest of costs from the beginning. She was highly responsive and worked through the weekend (we have emails and texts to prove it), ultimately giving us not only the best design but a price that was better than all the competition. It is important to mention that we encountered some unfortunate delays in our renovation, so we have had to reschedule installation several times. In fact, we wound up having to install the mud room and home office separately. Deb and her team never protested but worked with us throughout, accommodating our timeline until the very end. This was one of the few bright spots in what was a very challenging renovation project. During installation, the team was meticulous, clean, and efficient. We noticed some really minor chips/scuffs on one of the original doors installed in the mudroom. I let Deb know immediately after the install, and she came out herself to inspect, and without question, said it would be taken care of - and it was when the home office was installed. We engaged these folks to build closets and shelves in our bedroom suite. The initial stages went fine (before they had our money) the initial meeting, the demonstration of options, walking us through the process and price options. When the day arrived for the work to begin the installer arrived without calling (minor annoyance but ok). He worked fast and was done in less than 90 minutes. OK so that is the good part. The bad part is that the main closet wall that they installed looks like it has been used previously - there are marks and scratches that are obvious when looking at it. They did no trim out the wall so it looks horrible. When we contacted the salesman and later owner about it their approach has been horrendous. Not returning calls - cancelling followup meetings the night before at 840pm with an email after we told them to not use email but call us. The Owner Denny has yet to return a call from both me and my wife. And now they say they cannot come out for another two weeks to fix this mess. Avoid these guys unless you are 100% confident you can fully inspect the work at the time it is done. If you find any mistakes or erros DO NOT PAY them as once they have your money it seems like they could care less about you. read more

Final product is satisfactory, but the 5 month timeline to finish a 1-day job is miserable. Customer service is unresponsive. Ownership is unresponsive. Preference was to refund some of the payments to make fixing the installation my problem rather than the experts' problem. Some of the installation was very shoddy and violated basic principles like putting wall anchors in plaster to mount hooks, or putting both screws in a hook before you mount it. read more

I am writing in regards to my horrible experience with ClosetFactory. After four months and my life was upside down, even their management didn't call to apologize for all that I had gone through. The successful business is proud of their work. I am a YouTuber and I even made a video of this whole experience and I hope this might help someone else. They sent some woman, whose name was Pam, who was supposed to be a designer, but whose background was as a banker. She was incompetent. She had to come out twice to do measurements, made mistakes with the paperwork and gave me wrong information about the size of the doors. The initial installer forgot to bring the top trim, did the dresser installation incorrectly and the doors that Pam recommended looked terrible. In addition, Pam made a gigantic hole in the middle of the closet, where a small space was requested for a small TV. I had to redesign the entire closet myself, and pay over $1000 for new doors. I was initially told that the installation would be done in one day, but in fact, it took three separate installations spread across two months and the entire process took nearly four months. All my personal belongings were in the middle of my living room for four months and I was miserable. I am not blaming ClosetFactory for the installation issues as this can sometimes happen. Plus, I had a friend that had used ClosetFactory and the results were good. I am blaming them for hiring this woman, who did not know what she was doing. Even now, there are places where holes were there from the initial work, and they only filled them in. Our first experience with Closet Factory was in 2009 we installed a custom office in our home. We talked to 2 other companies but found Deb Brookerd, our designer at Closet Factory, creative, attentive and patient. She listened to our needs and the sometimes conflicting visions of myself and my husband. She calmly reworked our design numerous times until we were both very, very happy. The house is old and the floors are not level so she came for the installation and personally worked through any issues that arose. Then, she returned to work through my punch list until everything was complete. We were so pleased that when we moved to a new home in 2011, we immediately called her to design and put in a similar office. Again, she worked with us to recreate our perfect office in new space. We had some issues with uneven floors that led to gaps in the desktop around the windows. I thought we might have a hard time resolving the problem, but Deb and her installers brainstormed with us until we came up with a terrific solution. I highly recommend Closet Factory with particular kudos for Deb and her team of experienced installers. read more
