They closed all the holes in the walls (no more air coming in) where the old convectors were located; they repaired the flooring so that it looked seamless; and they installed baseboards to mask the gaps left by the new convectors, which were a slightly different size than the previous ones. (The convectors were installed by a different company, so they coordinated with them nicely). They also installed a brand-new lighting fixture on the bedroom ceiling (lots of concrete drilling involved), hung a metal shelf in the bathroom, and closed all the holes in the kitchen left by the previous contractor when the kitchen was remodeled. No more mice! Wonderful service, punctual, and would happily call again for anything else I may need.

He was great at communicating different ways he could solve the issue and how much it would cost. He also worked his butt off and is really skilled. I HIGHLY recommend him to others and will definitely be in touch should I need additional help on other projects.

Messaged a few contractors here on Yelp for last minute projects we were looking to get done before…read morewe rented out our townhome, and Jose from Hernandez Contracting was the first to respond to my message. He was able to come by our place on the same day for an in-person quote and after deciding that we wanted to work with him, he was at our place ready to work the very next morning! He said he was able to come by to start work at 9am the next morning, but he was there not only on time but a bit earlier by around 8:30am! We had started off with 3 projects for him, which he quoted us for, but I ended up asking him if he could do more little projects, and he was able to take on anything we asked of him. He's awesome, he was even so respectful to take off his shoes when he worked inside our home. The projects he was able to complete for us was: 1) carpentry work in our garage (to secure some previous work done before we bought our townhouse, there were some unsecured wooden pillars barely holding up a wooden built-in storage shelf). Jose even told us how he would make it even more secure by adding more pillars where it would hold more weight on the shelf and be more secure; 2) filled up a hole in our wall, he was able to patch it up with drywall and matched the exact paint and by the time he was done and paint dried, you would never have known it was there! 3) he installed a new storm door for us, our previous storm door had a broken door handle, and Jose was able to install a brand new storm door that we had purchased, he even made sure that the storm door we bought was the correct measurement. 4) Jose installed new hardware on our kitchen cabinet doors, they were all aligned! He took the project off our hands. 5) upon request he was able to fix our closet door that wasn't aligned properly, so it didn't shut! When we bought the house it was like that, Jose fixed it! 6) he glued & aligned some wooden pieces coming off that were framing our attic crawl space. 7) he went above and beyond to find some new window screens that we couldn't locate locally, so he drove to another state to look for it the very same day! He wasn't able to locate it, so he ordered the correct sized window screens and installed them as soon as he could after it came in the mail! He was able to get most of the work done in just 2 days! Minus the window installation, which was done as soon as possible, once he special ordered it and after it arrived! His preferred payment method is through Zelle. Jose is an amazing handyman! He is punctual, very reliable, kept his word when he said he would come by and do our projects, and did great work in a timely manner. I would recommend him to family & friends, and we will definitely work with him again.

This was our first time dealing with a major home issue, and navigating insurance, contractors, and conflicting opinions felt overwhelming and stressful. I spoke with several contractors and received multiple estimates, but Alan stood out immediately. He was the first to respond and the first to give clear, straightforward, and honest answers. The work the team did was beautiful and a great value for the price. We went a little over 10% over budget, which is just about what I expected for a project like this, and I was pleasantly surprised that we actually finished a few days early. The work comes with a 3-year warranty too (which we needed in the past and have had no trouble using), which gives extra peace of mind. Each person on the project - Elena the project manager, Juan the site supervisor, Alexa the designer, John the estimator, and especially the lead technician Cornelio was a pleasure to work with. As with any renovation, there are always surprises and hiccups along the way, but the team handled everything professionally, even when I was stressed and occasionally cranky. One thing of particular note was how much the team was willing to work with me when the inevitable surprises came up. There are things that nobody can foresee, which usually results in a change order and extra cost, but then there are those little things where everyone leaves a conversation with a different impression. In those latter instances, I always really appreciated how willing everyone was to meet me halfway and to make sure I felt good about how things were going and confident that we were doing right by each other. All in all, I highly recommend them and they will be my first call next time I have a project!

Second, my initial flooring choice became unavailable between the time I selected it and ordering. When this happened, Eric and I went down to Home Depot together and found another option that looked better, was higher quality, and cost less. We moved walls, changed flooring, the entire kitchen, stairs and rail system, new ceilings, paint, trim, and so much more. On top of the great work, he provides a warranty on all his work. I received four estimates, but only three did site visits. Three of the estimates were over $4,000. My house was built in 1993. I've had the front soft washed and repainted three times since then. Each time the price was a little higher, but no where close to $4,000. Liberty Painting's price was very reasonable and no where near $4,000. We scheduled the work for the following week. Two painters arrived on time. We discussed the scope of work, which included soft washing the wood. They were both very friendly and did excellent work. They cleaned up the work area as promised. Great Company, Excellent Customer Service, Superb Product, Fantastic Experience. My wife & I just purchased our first home & one of my biggest hesitations was the lack of storage (mid-unit townhouse). I shopped around stores for closet solutions, but most of what I found seemed "cheap." We also had Lindsey as our designer. We decided to do a total of 7 spaces (Master walk-in, Master reach-in, 2 spare room closets, reach in pantry, storage closet, & a coat closet). Our original spaces had one wired rack in each location, except for the pantry, which had 5 wire racks. Lindsey measured everything & then proposed coming back so she didn't have to take up too much time showing us designs. When Lindsey came back, her designs were fantastic. She really listened to what my wife & I needed for space & for things we were not sure about, she designed what she thought might be the best options for us. We made some minor adjustments in the design & decided to continue with Closet America. WHY WE DECIDED TO PROCEED: First, my entire career has been based in the customer relations industry & I think Closet America is one of the few companies left that makes every customer interaction count. They do a phenomenal job listening to you, calling ahead to make sure things are good to go, & following up through the process to make sure you are satisfied. This is not an in-your-face type or a make you feel uncomfortable type with the sales pitch type company. If you don't want the product, there is no obligation to continue (although see my final point of this review). Secondly, Lindsey's vision of our space could not have been better. We have had the closets installed now for about 6 weeks & it has changed the way we optimize the space in our home. We have about 65-75% more space than we did, just by the design alone. The product is of the best quality I've seen! COST: YES IT IS EXPENSIVE. BUT THERE IS SOMETHING TO BE SAID FOR HAVING SOMETHING THAT IS "CHEAP" VS. HAVING SOMETHING THAT IS AFFORDABLE. For us, we knew that the cost was going to be higher than other solutions, but Closet America gives you 72 hours to cancel, & I spent the entire time researching to make sure I didn't get the bad end of a deal. This is what I found: - The price is much higher than pre-fabricated solutions in the hardwood stores, but Closet America has completely different customized designs. - You don't have to worry about cutting things down to size & screwing up the dimensions - A lot of solutions use cheap rods, pins, & shelving that will not have the product last as long. Cheap meaning the quality, which in turn makes it less expensive. - If you have to replace the solution more than once over the lifetime, you are paying more in the long run. - I also priced out the solution with a design & order yourself online store & the pricing was only about 10% less than Closet America (But then you have to install yourself). For me, some of the biggest cost-related factors that Closet America brought to the table were: Free Installation, Double-lifetime warranty (transferable to next owner), Discounts on the materials when we ordered that month (Based on radio ads, you can almost always expect to see at least 10%-15% when you order that month), & my ability to change the product design to bring down the price (for example, we went from a dark wood color to white for all of the closets, & it brought the price down significantly). INSTALL: We had two installers from Closet America come to get our job done. They did a great job walking through the home & asking me to re-position anything that might be in their way. They were there for about 8 hours (which is what they told me up front), but they removed the existing shelving & filled all of the holes prior to installing the new product. One really neat thing about this product is they install it to the wall as well as having a leveling system on the floor that allows you to re-level should there be any shifting. Before leaving, they demoed the product with us to make sure we knew how everything worked & were happy with the product/made sure we were happy with how they left the house (it looked cleaner than when they got there haha) Lastly, my advice to anyone thinking about having any work done in your home is please take the time to think & talk about it with those that it affects PRIOR to calling anyone. I firmly believe that you should know up front what your budget is & what the maximum you are willing to spend PRIOR to having contractors do estimates. My wife & I have seen times when a contractor may offer you an additional discount or have a promotion if you commit when they are in the home & if you know that the quality of the product, the customer service, & cost is all what you are expecting going in, it makes the process a whole lot easier for you. & if they are way of your budget, be up front about it. We will absolutely be using Closet America for other solutions in the future! read more

"I need more closet space," is what I told my new husband. He saw that my clothes were slowly taking over our room, the spare bedroom and soon it probably would take over the whole house. LOL. So he took action, he researched and found Closet America. He schedule them to come out and give us an estimate on converting our spare room into a closet, JUST FOR ME! Ken, our Closet America Rep showed up ready to work. He measured and measured and measured some more and after speaking with us about what I wanted, he showed us a beautiful design of what our possible, future closet would look like. He of course went through the whole spiel about the company, and showed us pictures of their work and how happy everyone was with it and how many awards Closet America has received. And I was thinking to myself, this is an estimate consultation, TELL ME HOW MUCH IT'S GOING TO COST ME! Then it happened, the moment we really started listening, THE WARRANTY, double lifetime warranty for me and for possible future owners of my home. We were hooked and now possibly swallowing the price won't be too bad. When Ken told us the price based on the wood color, quality, design etc I almost fell out of my chair. I thought to myself, my husband is not going to go for this price. I turned to look at him and he didn't bat an eye. Ken saw the looks on our faces and quickly came up with an alternative. Of course, I had chosen the highest quality, color, style etc. But I quickly changed my mind once Ken offered the alternative. I could do the white instead of the chocolate and we can take some of the shelves out etc. Whew....along with the discounts it brought the price down to something more reasonable and to a price we were comfortable with. Ken was very good and we were stunned to find out that we were his second consultation since starting with Closet America. Kudos to him, He was very thorough and professional. Needless to say we were in...ALL THE WAY! My Closet America system was installed this past week and it is FABULOUS to say the least. It is well worth the money and the guarantee makes us comfortable in spending that kind of money on a closet system. I am not disappointed in this investment. I could spend all day in my closet. They have turned it into a very stylish, hip, boutique-ish looking closet. I want to bring all my friends over so they can see it and hopefully give Closet America more business. We had a wonderful experience with Closet America. We had a small walk-in closet and a reach-in closet that had these horrible shelves with very minimal hanging space. Closet America helped us maximize our space and design two beautiful closets. Most importantly they got my husband out of my closet and into his own. :) Closet America was quick to respond. Not more than 10 minutes after I submitted an online request for an in home consultation did I receive a call to set up an appointment. They asked a few questions and took the time to explain the timing and the process of the consultation. We did not want to wait for the next available Saturday appointment, but they were able to accommodate or work schedules and come later in the evening. Our designer, Olga, was wonderful! She was very knowledgeable and took the time to measure everything accurately before entering the measurements into her computer and designing our closets right in front of us. She stayed at our house to after 10PM taking the time to thoroughly describe the different products and materials to us. We had received another estimate from Closets by Design that was much lower, but I was more impressed with the product and experience of Closet America. I mentioned this to them and Olga was able to talk to her manager and they were able to work with me on the price so that the estimates were more in line with each other and they got me to sign that night. The next day, I realized I wanted to make a slight change to my hamper and I was able to call Olga, explain what I wanted and she got back to me immediately with the change in price and confirmation that the design had been changed. As promised, within a few days I received the final drawings of our designs. Since our closets had some custom features, it took a few weeks before we could have them installed. The installation went off without a hitch. The installer was on-time and took about 4.5 hours to remove the old shelving and rods, spackle the holes and to install the new systems. He took the time to clean up after himself and to explain how all the shelving and items worked. Overall, we were very pleased with our experience from start to finish with Closet America. They were priced a little on the higher end but the quality of the product is worth it and they are willing to work with you on price to earn your business. Closet America did an amazing job on our home office. I am not the easiest customer to work with because I am a perfectionist, but I have to say that the final product was really outstanding and worth the cost. First, their sales staff did a super-thorough job measuring our space. The saleswoman was very knowledgeable, and even though the company's approach is a hard sell, she was professional and patient. She also prepped two designs that we could choose between. Second, after purchasing but before design finalization, I realized I needed some customization on the drawer and desk size. No problem. They refined the design and gave me an updated quote. Third, the room for which we purchased the home office system was previously chock-full of books, desks, and files. Because of my schedule, it took me five months from the purchase date just to get the room emptied out and painted (crazy, I know). Closet America was patient with me this whole time. Fourth, the installation process, once scheduled, was fast and smooth, and the finished product (which includes a desk, bookshelves, and file drawers) is both gorgeous and functional. Fifth, there were a couple of problems with the finished system in terms of clearance for cord management and adjustability of one of the shelves. Unfortunately, I noticed these problems at different times, about a month apart. Impressively, Closet America sent workers out on two different occasions to make the needed shelf modifications on-site, and the modifications were flawless. They also added plugs for two tiny screw holes where the screws were previously visible. So I have to say that Closet America is the best renovation contracting company I've ever worked with, and I've worked with several. Also, the organization system they installed has transformed a crowded and messy home office into a beautiful workspace, and there is now plenty of extra space where the kids can play when I'm not working. We absolutely loved working with Closet America! Within days of contacting them we were able to set up an at home consultation to look at the two spaces we were considering having done: our master closet and our upstairs loft. We already had a pretty good idea of what we wanted and the consultant ran with our ideas. Upon reviewing the design and costs, we decided to move forward with both projects at the same time. Based on what we had reviewed online, the quotes for both came back around where we expected. Redoing a master closet and creating an office will be no minor expense no matter what you do and working with Closet America was worth every penny to us! The customer service, follow up, and quality of the materials are priceless. From the consultation, we received follow up within a week and scheduled our installation for within a month or so (this time was allotted to finalizing details on both projects and ordering the custom materials). We received confirmation of our installation the day beforehand and the installers arrived early and were done quicker than we thought they would be! We also received follow up afterwards as well. Now less than two months later - every single day we are fully enjoying both our new master closet with so much more storage and our new office loft! In the future we have several other projects we hope to do including custom storage in the unfinished part of our basement, a custom pantry, and potentially some custom shelves/storage in our garage above our cars. We are 110% certain we will work with Closet America again whenever we are ready to do these projects - that is how much we enjoyed working with them for these first two projects! Last but not least, we were very pleased that they are a locally owned and operated company. This was my second time working with Closet America (CA). They first installed 2 closets in a new bedroom addition. CA staff was easy to work with, did a fantastic job and created a beautiful final product. This made it easy to decide to go with CA again for a built in Murphy Wall Bed. I had high expectations from my previous experience and was surprised when there were some issues that came up during the installation. I was dissatisfied with the final product, it wasn't the original design. When I expressed my frustration, CA staff was immediately responsive. We discussed what happened and what could be done to fix the issues. They committed to fixing the issues and clearly communicated the next steps. Then the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Many months went by before we could schedule anyone to come back and work in-home to re-do the wall bed. Jeff at CA kept in touch with me and checked in until we were able to schedule. Jeff was great to work with. I believe he and CA engineers went above and beyond all expectations to ensure I was more than satisfied, that I was happy with the final product, which I am 100%. It looks great. We've now had guests stay and use the wall bed; they love the look and the comfort/bed support plus the additional feature of a drawer shelf that doubles as a tabletop. I continue to be impressed with CA. I would easily choose to work with them again and I highly recommend to others to use CA. This is a company you can trust. I had been struggling with the organization of my master bedroom closet for some time. I decided that I needed a closet system. I looked at DIY systems from the local DIY stores but they seemed complicated to install. I looked into several closet design companies but either they were too expensive or their craftmanship was not up to my expectations. Then I found Closet America. The sales rep that came to my home, Paola Rodelo, was prompt and polite. She walked me through the whole process and showed me samples of each component that they offered. There was no hard sell, just information. I was able to choose the look, feel and accessories that I wanted. The quality of Closet America's product was well above the rest. Paola produced a computer generated visual of how my closet would look with everything that I selected. I was very pleased with the design. When the installers came to install my system, they were on time, polite and efficient. They installed my system in about 4 hours. We had one hiccup, they forgot to bring the doors that cover the shelves. But customer service was apologetic and immediately scheduled to have them come back and install them. I work from home and recently moved to a condo with a small walk-in closet. This space was large enough to serve as both an office and closet but I needed custom shelving to make it work. Called several places but Closet America is the one that actually sent a salesperson/designer to my home. Eileen was able to see the space and understand how it needed to work for me. She measured, made suggestions, listened to my thoughts, and put together a great design. There was a little bit of a hard sell - this was more than I wanted to spend and they were offering a further discount but I had to sign that day, but I ended up signing because the discount brought it within reach and the quality was much better than what I thought I would be able to get. Communication from the office was great about scheduling the install and confirming things. Installers were great on the day - on time, worked efficiently, cleaned up thoroughly (actually patched a ding in the wall that I had made, not them), and were just nice people that I was completely comfortable having in my home. I appreciate having one company to work with and also that everyone I worked with was an actual employee (no contractors). My partner and I have worked with Closet America and designer Lydia Basilio on not 1, but 2 projects! Our initial project was renovating our two walk-in closets into one. Lydia met with us as scheduled, spoke to us about ideas/needs and whipped a design up all in one meeting! I'm not sure, but it seems like this is the organization's standard, which is great. No back and forth with design edits and additions. The finished closet project was sooo amazing, we could not ask for more....but we did! We were so pleased with the closets that when it came time to do more renovations, Closet America and Lydia Basilio were at the front of the list to consult with, first! Again, Lydia came and met with us and did a little catch up since it had been a few months. We sat down and started discussing the built-in bookshelf we wanted to install in our living room. Lydia worked her magic and measured the space and books to maximize the design and discussed materials with us. We recently 3/7/19 had our built-in bookshelf installed and are absolutely in love with it. Great company to work with. Katherine was my consultant and she was quick and efficient. I have 7 closets (2 of them are walk-ins) and she measured all of them and provided design ideas which maximized storage and fit my wishes. I live in a condo and while measuring she took note of the fire sprinklers in the closets and added them to the drawings so the installation team would know they were there and needed to be avoided. They have multiple finishes to choose from and different hardware for drawers. All the drawers are soft close, which is really nice. The installation team, led by Trey, arrived first thing in the morning and completed everything (all 7!) in about 2.5 hours, this included taking out the old wire shelves and filling in the holes. They cleaned up as they went and showed me how to adjust the shelves. They were respectful of the fact that I lived in a condo building and didn't leave anything in the hallway, kept noise to a minimum and of course, avoided hitting the sprinklers. I would recommend them to anyone else looking for a custom closet. read more

I canceled my appointment with Closet America because I learned that this is a business that hires unsavory characters. I have seen posts on Instagram about their employees. Two of them, both married, carried on a public workplace affair. Even taking off on the same days. The man is a manager there. HR was alerted. Instead of firing the manager they allowed him to continue and he just moved onto another employee. This person obviously has no integrity and is just using his management position to get with any woman associated with the company. I commented and Closet America's response was that they tend to look the other way when it comes to their employees. That doesn't sit well with me at all! How many other predatory employees are working there? And what other things do they do and "look the other way". This is one shady company. Always do some digging on social media and read comments. You'd be surprised what goes on within these companies and who is managing the employees. read more

We were recommended to Closet America by our architect and visited the showroom around March. We ordered in April but were not able to have them come and install our master bedroom closet until last week and we love it. Everyone we encountered was very nice and very professional especially when we had a little miscommunication about a particular piece we wanted to order. They called regularly to see how our project was coming along as to when they could schedule the installation. I was thrilled when they had a cancellation and could arrange the installation a week earlier than originally scheduled. The installer was due to arrive between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. and he was at my door at 7:29 and was finished in about 2 1/2 hours. He went over all the moving parts of the closet, the warranty and assured us we could add more shelving or pull-outs at any time. We were instantly sold by his professionalism and the clear quality of the work he stood behind. We had been through numerous contractors we could not rely on and Closet America was the first company we found in the DMV area that extremely easy to work with. They responded to all call promptly, worked with our budget, and always maintained a friendly and profressional relationship. We recently had a walk in closet designed and built by Closet America. The designer gave a very professional service using advanced tools after evaluating our requests. She paid close attention to my comments and added useful suggestions based on her understanding of the needs of the teenager using the new closet. Doing business is easy with online renderings, electronic documents and good communication processes. However she had along samples of the materials which spoke to the quality of construction as opposed to some competitors. On the day of build the installer was courteous and efficient. He was conscious of clean up and worked in his stocking feet in the white carpeted room. The finished product is perfect and will be satisfactory as this youngster grows to a young adult. I did not ultimately purchase a closet system, this review is just to say that Closet America stands by its word. I put a deposit down and had three days to cancel. I called and left a message on the third day after hours and they still refunding me with no problems - they did not even try any pushy sales tactics. I think this is important for two reasons. 1. If you are interested in a closet system it is free to meet with them and you can feel safe putting a deposit down. 2. A major part of what you are paying for is their guarantee which extends for the entire time you own the home and transfers once to new owners if you sell. It also includes fixing any damage and coming back for free and taking it down or moving. So it is a bit on the pricey side, but they stand behind it completely for life. read more

Nicole, went over every detail of the process, assessed our needs and wants, and answered all of our questions and concerns before evaluating our closet space. CA stayed in contact between design and install to confirm we were still on schedule. Heather consulted with us when engineers suggested a structural change to the mudroom for durability, they didn't have to do that, so I was impressed. I found Closet America at the Home and Garden Show in Chantilly, VA. The person I talked to at the show was very helpful and informative. I contacted them and a service representative, Olga, came and spent about an hour with me getting measurements and looking at what I wanted. The first project I have them do was to design and install a closet system into a tiny room that did not have a closet. It transformed the space and made it useful. My designer Kathrrine was great. She took her time with the planning. She measured lengths of my different clothing and how much of it I had, even measured my shoe boxes! Then she created a plan with shelves, drawers and hanging space. She was able to answer any questions I had about the process. I was able to pick my finish and fixtures for the project. When it came time for the installation, that went smooth. He finished in a day. The closet looks great, now I just have to put all of my items into the new closet. I was especially impressed on the most recent project that included mounting of a digital photo frame. Carlos simply "wasn't having it" to mount the frame with the electrical cord showing! He expertly drilled holes and snaked the cord through the inside of the wall and back out just above the electrical outlet for an amazingly clean look. He had the finishing caps to cover the entry and exit holes too. Carlos and the crew also took a very personal interest in mounting my career memorabilia (22 plaques and awards!) beautifully in my home office. And they are undaunted by "oddball" stuff like mounting clips for a tapestry in my media room to cover unsightly electrical panels. Their excellence starts with the manager Marc who gathers a LOT of information from you (pictures, model numbers, installation videos, etc.) so that the crew arrives fully prepared. When he set up his tables, tools and camera to video the install I knew I was in good hands! He was helped by Khadir and another young man. They communicated well and made a great team. They arrived early (who does that? Contractors are rarely on time). He explained everything along the way, to include the parts that were missing (luckily it was only a few screws that he had in his tool box), how to work the bed, and which mattress would be the best for that bed (based on the instructions given). I am so relieved to have this project complete. I have no doubt about it being installed correctly. Great job. I'll definitely call them again if I need similar service. By the way, they also followed up with a detail list of what was missing (by part number/name) and where to find it in the manual. That made it easy for me to get replacement parts from the manufacturer. Great job Flatpack!
