This guy just didn't want to work; a one day job turned into three days. I came home on day three and one section we had discussed at nauseam wasn't done- cutting honeysuckle bushes in half so they wouldn't overtake the fence. He either doesn't listen or doesn't want to deliver. I was so tired of hearing excuses and him not being prepared- not bringing the right clippers (for the aforementioned honeysuckle), his chainsaw breaking 3 times, a dentist appt, picking up a prescription, rain is in the forecast, his truck got stolen, endless BS. Finishing the job at 6 months pregnant in summer heat is not what I paid for, but it's definitely what I got. Absolutely do not recommend. read more

I hired Clipper to cut down and remove several dead trees and a bunch of jasmine. I understand that cutting down trees is not a risk free proposition. One of the tree branches fell on the roof of my studio out back and damaged it. He kind of nailed some of the shingles back into place and promised to return to complete the repairs as well as pull up the roots of the jasmine. I went ahead and wrote him a check. Not just for the full amount but, for $200 more than he was asking. That was 3 months ago. We have had some heavy rains and now I have water damage in the wall. To the owner's response: Eric, you nor Tom were even there. I was in the building when the tree fell on it. Yes some of the shingle on the back side of the roof were loose. But, the damage in the picture is all on you. Did you not agree to fix it? You have made promises to come on this day and that and never showed up. Has it not been 3 months? This guy....wow, NOT! Eric..... The guy who initially took the job as the general contractor: I originally hired him to only do the trees but he suckered me into building a fence when I told him that's why wanted to get done. Told me in a very bragging way that he could knock out cutting all the trees and put the fence up in two days, I told him "you really don't need to rush the job, obviously." He has 2 bad ass tree guys: Ramon & Roberto. These guys are the only reasons he's still in business. This job took 8 days! He worked Ramon and Roberto like DOGS because "his actual fence guy was M.I.A." and had them doing ALL the shitwork. Day 3: Eric has his "framer" there who wouldn't even acknowledge me as the homeowner, let alone even say "hello." Where do you find people like this?! He did a shit job and put uneven spaces where I told him to put the slats as close together as they could get. I have about a fourth of the job that is uneven. I gave him $3000 upfront because he was sweating about the price of materials and I wanted him to know I was serious as a client, He then groveled about not being able to pay his employees and hit me up for another $2000 before the job was even done. Seriously unprofessional. I've got my own shit to deal with, you think I care about you? Hell no! Get out with that! Someone in his crew knocked out my next door neighbor's WiFi, Eric denied it to the neighbor....then when a Google fiber tech came out, he verified that "yes", the WiFi line was broken by them. A part of my vinyl siding was literally ripped off during the job. Eric claimed NO responsibility. The job got done and the fence is up, but I heard every excuse under the radar. I will never use him again, I don't associate with people like this! Told Eric I wanted to be able to padlock the fence from the inside, instead I got latches. Definitely not what I asked for. I'm still asking via text how much it was to put up the posts, so I can hit my neighbors up to pay me for half of it. Four attempts, and he has yet to respond. You got my money and I know I'll never hear from you again! I don't care about his 5 year warranty....I'll never use or recommend him ever again. Good riddance! UPDATE 5/17/18: The latch on the north gate completely won't latch! What a PIECE OF SH*T! I had to buy a padlock to lock it from the outside! Definitely NOT what I paid for! A few days ago, at about 5:00 p.m., I had the misfortune of a giant tree branch fall on my car which was parked in my driveway. We called Clipper's because we'd seen the truck in the neighborhood, and we are glad we did. Eric gave a "neighborhood" price, the cost of which was being flexible about scheduling, and that was no problem. We had several projects: a large ligustrum heavily damaged in the freeze, a large trash tree to remove from a tight spot before it dropped any more limbs on our house, 2 dying fruit trees to remove, and 3 large trees that needed their canopy raised. Grumpy PSA on this stormy day: I recommend against using Clipper's Tree Service Condensed story: Clipper's bid on removal of a fallen 40' hackberry tree from our backyard (fell clear into yard, no damage or risks to property for removal). Eric Camarillo at Clipper's bid the job at $600 for removal of the fallen tree and grinding down the stump. This was $100-150 more than other bids I got, but Eric said he serviced the neighborhood regularly so I wanted to trust and give him my business. Although they advertised they take credit cards, Eric said their system was down and he'd prefer check. Since I bank online, I offered cash because it was easier for me. Fast forward to Friday - his crew was supposed to arrive by 8:30am on Friday morning, with Eric to supervise as we'd discussed. They were no-shows for the first hour. Got a string of excuses when I finally got Eric on the phone. I was a couple of hours late to work due to this, and his crew arrived closer to noon. Eric never showed up to supervise. When I talked to him on the phone while they were late, I asked him to make sure he called me when he stopped by to make sure the job was done per what we'd discussed. He never arrived. Come home that night; stump of the tree is not cleaned up, still stands about 2' off the ground and 1' away from a chain length fence (respect they don't want to dull tools, but I've used a chainsaw - this was sloppy work that I don't think would have happened if the supervisor was there as I'd paid for...) Call Eric out to inspect. He's aggressive and a lot of fast-talking exclusives. Originally told me he'd take care of it when he came out, but "forgot his tools". Then says he'll come out on Sunday to take care of it - then tries to reschedule first for Monday morning, then Monday afternoon, which he cancels on both because "his wife told them they had a game". Frustrated, I tell him I'm just going to take care of it myself because of the inconvenience and not doing the job originally as agreed upon, and that I'd pay him by check. Get an angry voicemail about wanting cash only (remember: the cash thing was my choice over a check for his convenience at the time we made the deal), and that he won't honor the Yelp coupon "because he meant to take that down". Told him that wasn't acceptable and that I intended to use it. After all of this circus, I ask if he'd be willing to reduce the bid by $55 due to the mistakes, etc. -- which he declined to do, and I declined to push back on because, seriously, screw these guys at this point. I'm writing this review to warn you of the extremely poor customer service I received from Clippers Tree Service. I was approached by Eric during a job regarding a split tree on my neighbor's property. My front yard tree would likely experience a similar fate due to the dead branches and overgrowth. I was told that a brace between the two main trunks would help prevent the tree from splitting. I agree to have the tree trimmed and the brace for $400. They trimmed the tree the same day and did a very good job. He began the brace but had to stop because he did not have enough brackets. He said he would come back after his job the next day to finish the brace. he assured me that it would only take 20 to 30 minutes to complete, so I paid in full and gave the two gentlemen a tip. That was a huge mistake on my part. I know better, but I let my guard down because I believed that they would keep their word. Shame on me. The next day came and went without the job being finished or a call informing me the reason for not coming. I decided to give them a few days because I knew a lot of trees had fallen. A week goes by, and I called Eric and asked why the job was not completed yet. He said the trimmer probably forgot. I asked him if he would come and finish. He told me that the trimmer would be there the next Tuesday afternoon. I waited but he never showed up or called. I called Eric a few days later telling him to come finish and that I would like a refund for the brace. He agreed to come Saturday and give me the refund. Saturday came and went with him not showing up for calling. I texted him telling him that I would like a full refund for all of the lies and aggravation. He called me shortly after and told me, "that was never going to happen." I feel that making me wait 3 weeks for 20 minutes worth of work is very insulting. I also believe that not showing up or calling is extremely disrespectful. Please do not make the same mistake I did. I do not want anyone to feel aggravated or cheated. Let me start off by saying that Eric and his team did a decent job trimming our trees. That isn't what got them a 1 star review. Eric never finished the actual job. They removed the branches they trimmed -- but left 2 huge stumps from a tree they cut down. And also left down was our fence, which was taken down to make removing branches/trees easier (it was damaged in the process -- but Eric said he would have it fixed up after the job was over). Also damaged was one of our new gutters -- but Eric somewhat "fixed" it (certainly not good as new like it was, but we were willing to overlook this if he would repair the parts of the fence they broke and actually put it back up). He said they would be back (numerous times) and scheduled and rescheduled. Twice he didn't show up and failed to let me know that he wouldn't be coming. This last time he rescheduled he did the same -- and has never answered or returned my calls/voice messages. If you want a professional and someone who will do what they say, I would call someone else. I can't recommend their service. read more

Great experience hiring Eric to cut down multiple trash trees in my yard. One tree was over my carport so I was concerned cutting it down it could cause damage. I was told by my pest control company that I needed to trim my trees back from my roof, because a possum had climbed up on my roof and snuck into my attic. I called a few different tree companies and got their answering machine. Then I called Clippers and Eric answered. He told me he could be at my house in 30 min to give me an estimate. True to his word, he was at my house in 30 minutes. I had gotten an estimate over the summer to trim my trees, so i already had a number in mind. Eric was $200 UNDER the estimate I got over the summer. I also have a 30 foot Palm tree that needed maintenance, and Eric said his crew would take care of it. He also noticed that my fence was in need of some tender loving care, so he gave me an estimate on the fence. He said he worked with a fence company and he could give me a great estimate. It seemed like a fair price, so I told him to book the tree trimming and fence replacement. Eric had come to my house at 5pm in the evening on a Wednesday. His tree crew was at my house at 8am the next morning and had the trees trimmed by noon. The fence guy was at my house on Friday at 730am and knocked out the fence replacement that day. Eric and his crew were able to come out and help right away when other companies told me three weeks. Pricing was clear and very fair. Eric made me feel comfortable at every turn during this very complicated 5-day project. Even more important though was the extreme skill his crew exhibited and the care they took in taking down each limb of this tree thinking of their safety and my property over all else. I called Clipper's and spoke to Eric about a tree in the front yard after finding roots starting to creep into my sewage line. They came and cut down the tree the same day, but I have been getting the run-around for weeks about the follow-up stump grinding. I've called and emailed 5 times in the last 6 weeks and I always get an excuse, a promise it will happen in the next few days, then nothing. It was supposed to be included in the price I paid. I left a check which the business deposited, and I'm still waiting on the other half of the service they were supposed to provide! I've requested a refund. We have a heritage live oak in our backyard. Needless to say, we love it and its value is priceless to us. In the 5 years we have lived in our home, we haven't touched that tree in fear of taking away from its beauty or harming it in some way, and I don't think that tree had been trimmed in all its years of life. It had gotten to the point of being too overgrown and draping all the way to the ground. We got Eric's information from a family member and decided that no matter the outcome, the tree HAD to be pruned. I couldn't believe the job they did. They made our tree look more beautiful than we could have imagined. I thought losing all of those limbs would take away from the tree's personality, but it now looks better than it ever has.
