I had checked in advance with Nerds-to-Go and sent a photo of how far off the scanning bar was before I brought it in to confirm they could work on it. I understood that once they got into the machine it might be too expensive to repair and there were no guarantees. After taking it in and paying the $99.00 diagnostic fee, I got a call a couple of days later saying. It seems that they had done some more research and realized that given how far off the track the bar was, this was something they were not comfortable fixing and needed to go to an Epson-certified tech as it would require going into the motherboard of the machine. Although I realized that this might not work out from the get-go, from what I can tell, they did not even look inside. I am frustrated I paid $99.00 when they knew the machine, had a photo of the issue, and only did research after I brought it in. The people seem lovely and professional and I REALLY hope this was a one-off for the company and not the way they normally operate.

My laptop had been suffering from neglect as I've been spending more time with my desktop and iPad. So it started rebelling and functioning at half the speed of backwards. The guys at NerdsToGo waved their magic wand over it, and now it's like a brand new computer. The relationship with my laptop is rekindled! Thanks NerdsToGo!

This absurd company stated that it would be $150 an hour for service plus parts…read more The technician was here a minimum of two minutes. He opened the print cartridge part and said we should try using HP ink and see if that fixes it. He asked if when I called in did they try to ask me what was wrong to diagnose on the phone and I said no. He said "Oh they must be super backed up because of the holidays and rushed and just go you booked) He then left. I went and got HP ink and it fixed the issue. The company then charges us $150 plus tax for the technician to spend 2 minutes in our office. I AM APPALLED AT HOW THEY WOULD THINK THIS WAS OK. THEY NEVER MENTIONED THAT IT'S A MINIMUM OF AN HOUR SERVICE. I WOULD HAVE NEVER AGREED TO PAY FOR $150 FOR A DIAGNOSIS THAT WOULD TAKE MINUTES!

They also charged my credit card without my knowledge. When I complained the owner David said he would charge a restocking fee of 35%. Shortly after that he said via email, too much of a coward to tell me over the phone, that he would not be able to give me any money back. I said why I bought the parts that they advised me would fix the machine however the machine was not fixed. The repair man said the machine we had would only work if it was 100% fixed a partial fix would not allow the machine to work. He disassembled the machine to make sure we were getting every part we needed. I paid for three hours of labor and all the parts. Then it was still not working. That is when I was told I needed additional parts that he did not know about before. In spite of the fact that the machine was totally disassembled. Not honest people. Stay away. Not honest throughout the process.

They lost the joycons to my nintendo switch and then refused to replace them…read more I brought in my nintendo switch which wasn't powering on. They said it would be about a 3-4 day turnaround to diagnose and fix. After 3-4 WEEKS of going back and forth with these people (and I was the one having to call for updates multiple times because they never called like they said they would), they finally deemed my switch unfixable. When I came in to pick up my switch, I initially thought they gave me someone else's switch back because the attached joycons were clearly not mine. These were scratched up, dented, and completely different colors than the ones I dropped off. I relayed this to the guy and he went in the backroom to look for my joycons. He came back up front and said he would have to talk to the manager and have him follow up with me, because he couldn't find my joycons in the store. About 4 days went by without a call so I had to follow up again and was told by an employee that the manager said there was nothing they could do about losing my joycons and that they would not replace them either, especially because my switch was deemed unfixable anyway...? So because they couldn't fix my switch, they felt it was appropriate to "lose" and then refuse to replace my joycons? Honestly at this point I'm questioning if they even gave me my switch console back. I've never had such an unprofessional experience like this. Stay the hell away from this place if you value your belongings.

Once you get inside, it's a really cool shop with a chess board, netflix, lounge-y seating, and H2O which I think is a nice touch and really should be mandatory in all Houston shops as it feels like you are walking on Jupiter outside almost year round. I was greeted immediately on both visits with a pleasant professional demeanor. I came into Kintech to get my dad's iPhone 5's battery fixed. The battery kept dying within minutes of being charged. Even after it was charged to100%. I took the iPhone to Kintech because of a recommendation and I got excellent service. Unfortunately the phone was worse this time. However, I took the phone back and they replaced the battery free of any additional cost and gave great customer service. If it wasn't for my friend, I wouldn't have ever known about Kintech. It might be a little out of the way for people that are not from that part of town but it's really a cool shop. It's great for cell phone repair with good service which is really hard to come by. They also have vapes and computer repair available (Windows & MAC). If you check-in on yelp you get a discount off your total. Can't go wrong. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

I…read moregot my phone screen replaced a few months ago and not only has the price increased but they didn't properly fix my phone screen. The top right edge of the screen didn't seem properly aligned but everything was working fine (and I made the mistake of saying I didn't need my receipt) so I left it as is. Over the past months the screen has just come undone from the phone entirely. The camera is fuzzy, Face ID no longer works, and the screen will often stop responding to touch. If you have the money for it get your screen replaced by apple directly, it might cost a bit more but at least you can be certain the screen works and you will be able to trade your phone in at a later time for a discount. Apple won't take any old phones unless it has a "certified apple" screen.
