    Cliffside Coffee exterior drive through.

The coffee was good. The address for this business is not the one on Yelp as of June 20th. They appear to have moved a few blocks away to a drive through location or the address on Yelp was just incorrect. Based upon past pictures we were looking forward to the seating, but it was okay. Fortunately, we past the location on the way to the posted address so we turned around and found it. We were still able to get coffee and there is a beautiful mural of Amarillo right next to it.

We stopped here this afternoon for a caffeine pick-me-up. This location is strictly drive thru/walk up only. This was entirely convenient for us and an easy spot for us to pull up and order. The menu is priced out including tax -- which is awesome. Prices were comparable with other local spots and similar to Starbucks. Flavoring is more creative than your average local spot. And baristas are super friendly and accommodating. We ordered three white mocha lattes, hot, and one blended PB&C (Peanut butter and chocolate) with almond milk. The almond milk is a 50 cent up-charge, but completely worth it. I really loved the barista that took our order. She was beyond friendly and made sure our first experience was amazing. We got to talking and we shared that we were here for the weekend. She gave us a punch card for our purchases and even added a few so that we could cash in on a buy one, get one on our way out of town! This was such a great gesture that made me want to come back. The coffee was flavorful and hit the spot. Come check out this local gem!

Excellent source of coffee! && at 6 in the morning they were so sweet, attentive and the coffee on point! I didn't want a commercialized Sbux coffee--I wanted the homegrown taste and this is what I got from Cliffside. I got a large avalanche Hot and it was superb. Not scorching hot thank Gawd! I hate coffee that burns my taste buds. This was the perfect temperature. Cute little drive thru that you place your order at the window. Will definitely make this a favorite when in town.

Word-of-mouth peaked my curiosity, so I decided that next time I'm in that area of town, I would taste test the flavor-infused Red Bull drink. Cliffside is in the building that once was a Catfish Shake before they moved into their building about a block away. The service? Simply, outstanding!! This is what brings me back every time. The staff talk to the people that drive up to the order/payment window. in a manner that is becoming an exception... like they are genuinely asking questions to get to know their customers better, instead of being like other take-away windows, "Order... Your total is $... drive up to the next window... here's what you ordered... window closed before you can say thank you". The drink? I requested to have an infused Red Bull, with orange flavor. The staff asked if I had "ever had an orange creamsickle, would [I] like to try one?" Sounded interesting so I said, "sure! Why not?" It was really quite good. Definitely will be going back, and I urge you too as well. Here is a link to the different drinks they serve. https://squareup.com/store/CliffsideCoffee

Ever since my first adventure to Amarillo, I have made a point to visit Palace Coffee Co. This place has always been there for me, and I have always thought they do a pretty bang-up job. I had not been back to Amarillo in a few years. After graduating college, there was not much reason to make the trip until I started dating my girlfriend, whose family lives in Amarillo. Wanting to be present and involved with her family meant making the drive up from Austin, a 7+ hour trek that feels like one for the history books. Since I was back in town, revisiting Palace felt like an easy decision. They have never done me wrong. I have always liked this café. It has great energy, solid music, and a clean space. The darker, almost matte black aesthetic was comforting back when I was still in school and visiting Amarillo. I had gotten work done here before, so while working remotely during this trip, Palace felt like the right place to be productive. We arrived on a Wednesday morning. I logged onto the Wi-Fi, plugged into one of their outlets, and got to work. My girlfriend was there finishing up some schoolwork for Texas Tech, so it was shaping up to be a productive morning. When we ordered, she got a cappuccino with chocolate, and I ordered a lavender latte with oat milk. I also grabbed one of their cinnamon twists for breakfast. Not long after, our drinks were brought to our table. From where we were sitting, we could see the roasting, packaging, and preparation of coffee for distribution in the back, which was a really cool view. There was also a new barista being trained on different coffee methods, which was nice to see. As for my lavender oat milk latte, it was good. I genuinely think Palace makes some of the best lattes in Amarillo, and I still have not found another place in town that tops them. That said, I am not sure if it was nostalgia or just an off day, but it was not quite as good as I remembered. The espresso did not feel as strong or forward as usual. It was not bad at all, and they still did a great job, but I remember it being more comparable to some of my favorite coffee shops across Texas. This time, it felt just a step below that memory. That said, it was still very good, and it could have easily been an off day or my own palate. The cinnamon twist was big, filling, and excellent. I liked it, my girlfriend liked it, and everyone was happy. Palace clearly knows what they are doing and how to create a great experience alongside a great latte. For that reason alone, it remains a must-stop when visiting Amarillo. RIYL: coffee in the Yellow City

I always find it interesting how many medium sized cities have a localized coffee chain that is so deeply rooted in the community. In Round Rock, it is Lamppost. In Amarillo, it is Roasters. There are quite a few Roasters locations in Amarillo, but the true OG is located off Georgia Street. I got there around 8:30 in the morning and it was capital B busy. Every table except one was occupied and the drive thru was wrapping around the building. By the time I got inside, I only had a short wait before ordering. I ordered a simple vanilla latte with oat milk in a medium size, along with a pumpkin spice muffin. For how busy it was, I was expecting to wait a while, but they churned drinks out pretty quickly. The barista even signaled to me to come grab the drinks for my girlfriend and me because I did not believe they had been made that fast. The coffee itself was pretty good. It leans on the sweeter side and is more focused on flavor than being espresso forward. It is clear why this place is such a staple in Amarillo. I also really liked that they had coffee sleeves that looked like Christmas sweaters and flannels for the season. It was a cute touch. It is a cute space and feels pretty traditional. One random thing I noticed was the pictures of Ronald Reagan on the walls. I do not know the reason or if it is some sort of long running joke, but it exists, along with books about Reagan scattered around the shop. There is only one single use bathroom, so on a busy morning it can take a bit if you need to use it. Every day, Roasters offers a coffee of the day on drip. I went to another location later in the week and tried it there as well, and it was good too. I think Roasters is a great option for coffee in the area and proves why it has been a staple for Amarillo residents since the 1990s. Regardless of the Reaganomics for whatever reason, Roasters can trickle down some coffee. RIYL: coffee and pictures of Ronald Reagan
