(Driving from Houston, TX to Taos, NM for a week) Hubs is over here gushing about what a fantastic morning it's been, part because of the adventure of a new place and lower humidity, but also, this is a GREAT cup of coffee! Drive thru is hopping on a late Saturday morning, plenty of parking outside and seating inside. Ordered the usual (decaf flat white, heavy cream) and it came out HOT and quickly. That first sip is like heaven on earth. Hot. Creamy. Coffee forward. They've got the ratios just right and this is a splendid beverage. Friendly staff inside, wishing us a great day as we left - felt very genuine and kind. We'll bookmark this place for the return trip(s). A bit far to become regular customers here, but definitely worth the detour off I40 for a local spot!

I always find it interesting how many medium sized cities have a localized coffee chain that is so deeply rooted in the community. In Round Rock, it is Lamppost. In Amarillo, it is Roasters. There are quite a few Roasters locations in Amarillo, but the true OG is located off Georgia Street. I got there around 8:30 in the morning and it was capital B busy. Every table except one was occupied and the drive thru was wrapping around the building. By the time I got inside, I only had a short wait before ordering. I ordered a simple vanilla latte with oat milk in a medium size, along with a pumpkin spice muffin. For how busy it was, I was expecting to wait a while, but they churned drinks out pretty quickly. The barista even signaled to me to come grab the drinks for my girlfriend and me because I did not believe they had been made that fast. The coffee itself was pretty good. It leans on the sweeter side and is more focused on flavor than being espresso forward. It is clear why this place is such a staple in Amarillo. I also really liked that they had coffee sleeves that looked like Christmas sweaters and flannels for the season. It was a cute touch. It is a cute space and feels pretty traditional. One random thing I noticed was the pictures of Ronald Reagan on the walls. I do not know the reason or if it is some sort of long running joke, but it exists, along with books about Reagan scattered around the shop. There is only one single use bathroom, so on a busy morning it can take a bit if you need to use it. Every day, Roasters offers a coffee of the day on drip. I went to another location later in the week and tried it there as well, and it was good too. I think Roasters is a great option for coffee in the area and proves why it has been a staple for Amarillo residents since the 1990s. My daughter and I went through to get a coffee, all of a sudden we hear a loud pop, my car relays that I have a flat tire at 0% air. I move the car 2-3 feet to the 2nd lane. A worker comes out asks if we are okay due to the noise they heard of the tire popping in their drive thru lane. She was super nice and APOLOGETIC. She brought my daughter a free coffee, she felt so bad, saying they knew the pothole had to be fixed. I had to have the car towed to discount tire across the street as it was not drivable without damaging the rim. Went through an entire process with Dutch bros insurance and they told me they couldn't help me because they couldn't prove the tire wasn't flat in their hula hoop sized pot hole in their drive up ordering lane, despite the works coming out because they heard it. The insurance woman said it could have happened on the main Street (Coulter) and I could have ran over a nail and I drove in like that. Then how did the workers "hear" the tire pop. I don't know how it happened, I wasn't going fast, I just didn't expect a huge pothole there and drove in it and pop. Did they take responsibility? No. Do they now have cones around it? Yes. So $149.10 down the drain because Dutch Bros. Doesn't want to take responsibility for not maintaining a safe drive thru lane. Unfortunately I will not return as a customer, not because I don't enjoy their drinks but because they refuse to admit that it happened on their property and instead blamed me and tried to say it happened elsewhere. Yes because when your tire is completely flat any normal person would risk damaging their rim on a completely flat tire to still go and order a coffee. Shame on Dutch bros.

We love going to Dutch bros and the drinks are always good. They have two lines at the drive thru and it says to pick the shortest line. The only problem is the customers that don't see that and end up just making one long line in the tiny parking lot instead of using the second lane. That's not Dutch Bros fault, I just wish other customers understood the second lane.

I hit the one in the Summit shopping center, and on my way out of Amarillo back to Austin, I stopped at their original location in Canyon. What a cozy spot that it was. Summit and Wolflin feel so established with their black walls, tables, and decor while the Palace in Canyon has this timeless feeling. Inside, the walls have a floral wallpaper, the lighting feels classic, and the ceiling looks like it's been there for decades. I ordered a hot Bluebonnet at the suggestion of my girlfriend and took home a whole-bean bag of their Monarch blend to try at my home in Austin. There was a decent buzzing crowd in the main space with plenty of seating in the back room. There was a group of older gentlemen next to us enjoying their coffees together. What a life. The baristas here during the morning we went were all so friendly and conversational which seems to be the norm at all Palace locations. There's just a level of sweetness in the atmosphere I get at Palace that I don't feel like I get at most shops. Their merchandise is excellent (not valuable to the review, just thought I'd share) and it seems like they truly care about the entire coffee experience instead of hastily throwing out drinks. Palace really stands out as a top tier coffee shop in Texas. Every community needs a place like Palace, and Canyon y Amarillo definitely benefits from them.
