They have a ton of different options so you're bound to find one you like. They also have some good options for soups and hot items for lunch, like meatballs or macaroni and cheese. The best part is the ice cream, though. They have a lot of flavors, but my favorite is the chocolate chip cookie dough. Gas prices are usually comparable to others nearby. Stop in and grab some snacks and coffee next time you drive by!

Stewart's Shops was exactly what I needed when I pulled in. I had been driving from New Jersey, and…read morewalking into this place felt like a warm hug. The way they serve the food and set up the store makes it very welcoming for someone who's been on the road for a while. They had nice refreshments, specialty cookies, little sandwiches, and plenty of options to grab a quick bite or a snack. It wasn't fancy, but it was comfortable, kind, and exactly the right vibe for a road stop. For being "just what I needed" at the right time, I'm giving Stewart's Shops 5 stars.

It's a shame that I never went here for the hummus, baba ghanoush or spinach pie before because it…read morewas amazing! We wolfed down two spinach pies and almost all of dips sitting in the car outside before we even left the premises. We had heard from a friend through the grapevine (they weren't coming up in Yelp searches at all--what a shame we didn't know about it sooner!) that they had great hummus but we don't really go down this way even though it's only 2 miles from Clinton and it's a real shame because now we're moving and we could have been eating their delicious dips for the last 2.5 years. It also looks like a superette--who who would think that they have such great middle eastern food?? In my opinion the hummus and baba they serve are better than the what everyone usually recommends for the area like Karam's and at least as good, if not better than The Grapevine. It would be a great place to go grab some food for a little gathering with some beers! We'll go at least one more time before we move and then we'll try the vegetarian grape leaves, tabouli and falafel. They also seem to sell tahini. I'm giving them a 4.5 star review really (but they don't give half stars on Yelp). They'd get a perfect five if they had a toaster for the spinach pie because my pet peeve is microwaved bread products. We had them cold and they were delicious so no loss there though! I also didn't see any pita which I do think the dips should have come with because next time we may not get the pies or have any on hand at home to use. I could be wrong though. They are a convenience store which sells the usual convenience store items and the setting is not fancy so don't go expecting frills. The owners are super nice though and I think it's family run. The counter is in back and you go get your stuff to go. They also seem to sell subs, party platters and have daily lunch specials but we weren't going in for that so can't review.

The lady making the subs had gloves on and reached her gloved hand into a bucket of water and retrieved a dirty looking rag. She proceeded to wash the counter down. When she was done she stood there leaning on the counter with those same gloves on and asked me what she could get me? I said "you're going to change those gloves right?" She said "oh sure" and preceded to change the gloves. She started to forget the onions but after I reminded her she put them on. The lady bagging the subs and other items seemed more preoccupied with everything else going on than trying to bag my stuff properly. This place has gone down hill for sure.

Our first…read morevisit was in Indianapolis and I was truly impressed with their level of service and the quality of their food. Their stores are downtown and looked identical. Pretty much like Subway. The place was clean and the one worker there was very friendly and courteous. They also had some outdoor seating available which definitely added a good touch. It was a pleasure being in a store where the staff was happy to see you and help you. There were three of us and we all had our own custom made sandwiches. I found everything here to be tasty and definitely fresh. I really enjoyed the turkey sandwich and have always liked the idea of being able to customize it with the condiments that I choose. The bread was really good... Fresh and tasty! Pricing is very fair and I am looking forward to be able to stop by one of their locations in the future. KUDOs to the team at Jimmy Johns.

Love, love, LOVE the Utica location of Brooklyn Pickle!…read more I first discovered this gem thanks to a paramedic out in Syracuse who told me it was a favorite among first responders. It was conveniently located near my office in DeWitt, so I became a regular--and was thrilled when they opened a location closer to home in Utica. It definitely did not disappoint! My go-to is the hot pastrami on dark rye with Russian dressing. But don't make the rookie mistake of ordering a whole sandwich unless you have an exceptionally hearty appetite! These sandwiches are HUGE. I'm doing good just to make it through half of one. The Utica location occupies a turn-of-the-century warehouse, and the beautiful exposed brick walls give this already great deli a ton of character and a real sense of history. The staff is friendly, helpful, and more than happy to put together whatever sandwich masterpiece you can dream up. They also have a great selection of homemade sides, although I'll admit I've never gotten around to trying them. Between the size of the sandwich and my appetite, I'm lucky to get through half! The homemade pickles that come with every sandwich, however, are absolutely to die for. Parking can be a little challenging given the location, but don't give up...there's additional parking in the back, and the front lot tends to fill up quickly. One of my must-go-to lunch spots in Utica and definitely worth a visit!
