Very nice cigar bar on 16th floor of the Harrah's hotel. Bobby and Heather were great host & hostess for the 2 hours there. Enjoyed a Ashton VSG Eclipse with a nice Flor de Cana 12 year rum. Also got permission to do a cigar review for my channel, Smoke N' Tha Bay "Cigar Review". Also, while speaking with Bobby, found out this great location used to be the private bar of Sammy Davis Jr!!! Cliche Lounge is a bit tough to find in the Harrah's casino (we had to really look for it; it was almost like trying to find a speakeasy that wasn't trying to be a speakeasy), but in some ways I think it helped by making the bar feel less crowded like so many other establishments were on a busy Tahoe weekend. The drinks were fairly priced for the area which in general is very expensive. Both the Lavender Martini my fiancee had and my Negroni were perfectly made and tasted how they should. With that said, the service we received at this bar really took it from a likely 4 star review to a 5 star. While drinking her drink, my fiancee accidentally knocked over her glass and it broke into a few pieces; instead of getting upset, Bobby, the bartender first made sure everyone was ok, and then helped quickly take care of the situation. He really prevented us from feeling bad about the accident, and it kept us enjoying our night and time at Cliche Lounge. One note: this is a cigar lounge, so it does have a bit of a smoke smell even if people aren't actively smoking. Once the other party in the bar starting smoking cigars, the smell got pretty intense and we had to move to the other side of the place. Just a note for sensitive groups. read more

Upon arrival of the cliche bar we were greeted by the bartender Bobby. He was very attentive even with the rush of guests coming in. The ambiance is very fancy cozy. This had some good reviews so I decided to come here for my sisters Birthday celebration to have some signature cocktails and a celebratory cigar and it did not disappoint.the space is very small and intimate but Melanie let us scoot some chairs and tables to fit us all and she made the most amazing drinks. We have Lemon Drops, comocazi's a bottle of bubbly, Dirty Martini's, the Ex Boyfriend, just amazing drinks that's were a perfect introduction for my sisters 21st experience. They also had an array of cigars to choose from depending if you rarely smoked, wanted to sample or were an experienced smoker. Also the views from being on the 16th floor at night were soo beautiful. Quiet, classy, quirky lounge with a view. We went on a Friday and for most the evening had half the bar to ourselves. It was the Freakers Halloween Ball so I imagine it's a bit busier whenever the neighbor casino isn't hosting such a large event.... and it's shoulder season. We enjoyed the peace and being able to sip some whiskey and wine without having to shout. I bet it's absolutely beautiful during a snow storm. The windows overlook Hwy 50 with a peek of mountains. Wanted to come up for a drink for our anniversary. As locals we loved it here but haven't been since covid. Called to make sure it was open and cancelled our other after-dinner plans to go. Upon arival we sat at the bar for almost 10 minutes before the bartender acknowledged us, then when she finally did she started loudly berating me about what kind of water I wanted. Exactly what I'm looking for in a cigar lounge. Great environment, amazing selection of scotch, and off the beaten path so it's not super busy. Not to mention the service was unbeatable. It's a little hard to find if you don't know where you're going, which keeps away the casual crowd, aside from the random dude toting around a White Claw tall can but you could tell he was totally out of his element. The first night my friend and I were there, we asked about a corkage fee as we had a very nice bottle of wine for the following night. Melanie told us it would be $20, which is more than reasonable. Flash forward to the next night, we bring out bottle. They open it and pour it for us. Another great night. When it comes time to close out, Melanie apologizes and says she was wrong. The corkage is actually $25. No problem we tell her. She says, "no, I feel bad" and gives us $5 to make up for the difference. Not only did she remember us, she remembered our conversation and gave us cash to make up for her innocent mistake. Needless to say that $5 went right back on top of the tip we left. This will definitely be a regular spot anytime I'm in town. read more

Me in a cigar bar? Perish the thought! But Cliche changed that all for me the other night when I found this gem located in Harrahs in Stateline. We walked in a little apprehensive, but the ventilation system was great so that the smoke was hardly noticeable. Pretty impressive given I am a non smoker. But the real gem here is a bartender named Melanie who makes amazing drinks, "seasons" cigars for those smoking and seemingly remembers everyone who comes in and what they drink! She made our night as she was personable, gave us a little history on the place and managed to juggle a million things when the place got busy and she was the only one there! The space actually used to be the old presidential suite for the hotel so lots of celebs have passed through these doors. Now if only the walls could talk as I bet they would have a million stories to share. But since the walls aren't talking you'll have to make your own stories come to life in this unique space. This was a nice surprise. I did not expect to find a quality cigar lounge in the area. This place is tucked away on the 16th floor. This is great as it is all by its self for the most part. This means none of the crazy casino crowds wandering through. It is a small U shaped place with a bar in the middle and liquor cabinets on either side. The bartender was great. She was very friendly and attentive. They have a good assortment of whiskey, bourbons and scotch to choose from. I chose the flight of 18 year old scotch. It was great to peacefully enjoy a cigar while sipping on some quality scotch. Even if I was not smoking a cigar I would likely come in here to enjoy a nice drink in a cool environment. read more

Late night. Yelp'd "Bars". Cliché popped up. Why not??? This place is legit!!! A nice place to sit down, have a few drinks, and enjoy the ambiance. Yes, it's a cigar bar. No, it's not suffocating. And I can not believe it's been around for 16 YEARS!!! This place looks like it was added months ago. Everything looks clean, fancy, and pristine. Lastly, Melanie is A-MAZING!!! Friendly, helpful, and never intrusive or overbearing. We came here in our snowboarding clothes and she still treated us like royalty. Great place for a conversation, a view (almost forgot 16th floor views are dope), and even a first date. Definitely will be coming by next time we come through here. read more

The top thing that makes Cliche GREAT and not just average is Melanie the bartender. She works this room alone, you may have to wait a couple minutes longer than in a normal bar, but it's because she is giving another client her personal "touch" service, it could be helping you choose a cigar, which she then escorts you to your seat, unwraps, clips, toasts, then presents your cigar for the final lighting, or she may be preparing a special drink for someone. This lady is truly a gem and Harrah's is lucky to have her. The extra wait is worth this personal touch service. Vent system is top notch so you will not leave smelling like old cigar. I was also amazed at the number of ladies that also come in here. Top shelf liquor especially here also. Some things you may have never even seen in a bar before. Prices were reasonable for where it's located, nice selection of scotch, bourbon, tequila, etc. Nice humidor selection, a little pricey but again look where you are, expect it. We've been to Cliche in the past and had very enjoyable experiences. This time was the complete opposite. The bartender, Jenna, was extremely unfriendly and rude. The mask rules make it difficult and we understood that but with a smile and a little kindness, she could have made it a positive experience. The rule is, you keep your mask on at all times unless actively taking a drink but it can come off if you're smoking. I say that because two men at the bar were smoking and their masks were off. That was the reason she gave when we asked why they didn't have to wear one. If that were the case, all she had to do was offer a cigar. She thought we were upset with the Covid rules......truth is, she needs a lesson in how to treat people. Drove down the hill to the Genoa Bar instead and had a great time. read more

Okay, so we love South Lake Tahoe but...let face it, a lot of what is advertised is not what you get. You have to sift through some "low brow" claims to get to the good stuff. Cliche is the real deal! My wife and I stopped in last night after dinner and it was all that it claimed to be. A top shelf bar that has a humidor with a nice selection of cigars. The ventilation system that is designed to pull the smoke out worked so well, my wife (a non-cigar smoker) had no problem sitting and enjoying an after dinner drink while smoked two cigars. This alone sets it above any other cigar bar I've ever visited, but wait don't order yet! The service was warm, friendly and yes, classy. Not a word I use often. I wish I would have gotten her name to thank her here, but the experience was definitely made for better having her serve us. If you enjoy a fine cognac, whiskey, scotch or almost anything else you can think of to drink and a fine cigar in an atmosphere of elegance, served by people that truly enjoy being there and serving you, this is your place. Top shelf liquor and a great cigar selection. The high horsepower ventilation system means it's even great for nonsmokers. The night we were there, there was a large group of drunk people who thought they were hilarious so they were loud but I'm not holding that against Cliche. Knocking off one star because we were there on a Saturday night and they closed at midnight so we had to take our drinks on the road although they did stay open a bit past closing time. But Cliche is a bit of Vegas in South Lake. Until midnight anyway. read more

We even checked the website to confirm hours (Friday and Saturday only). Arrived Saturday night only to be greeted by a sign that the bar was closed for a private party.
