We came to Clemmy's for the first time last night for our anniversary and we absolutely loved it. I have been going to Manahawkin/LBI for 20 years and the food in the area isn't...the best. We were so pleasantly surprised with every single dish we had last night. It was immediately obvious that this restaurant is serious about serving good food and a quality experience. The Old Bay Crab Bucatini may be one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had on the Jersey Shore. The steak was cooked to perfection and all of the flavors incorporated in the dish went perfectly together. The Lemon Posset was the PERFECT way to finish the meal. Just got out of Clemmys and wow what an experience! We started with Caesar's salad and pork belly and my palates are stoked! Each of us ordered different entrees for comparison. I got the short ribs which was so tender complemented by puréed cauliflower and broccoli rabe and I'm in nirvana. My husband who is hard to please was clearly enjoying his roasted chicken and our Aunt said her duck breast is out of this world. So the menu is unique which piqued our interest, so we drove 40 mins on a rainy week night to give it a go. Absolutely worth the trip. We got arrived when they opened and by the time we left (2 hour later) it was packed with people waiting outside for a table to open up. We order 4 appetizers cause we couldn't decide. One main dish to share and 3 desserts. Everything was delicious and we took home leftovers. It's a BYoB, which I love. The staff was great. This restaurant was amazing! Put it on your places to try if you love casual fine dining. The food quality, taste and presentation were top notch. You can just see the lump crab pieces in the crab cake. The acorn squash soup with hazelnuts was silky and the flavors melded wonderfully. I liked the way they finely shaved the Parmesan cheese and crumbled the croutons on the Caesar salad. I think the duck breast was quite possibly the breast was the best I've ever eaten. The halibut had a nice seated crust. The owner's mother makes the orange cake and it was heavenly. My husband had the lemon cream dessert which, was not too heavy. The coffee was a coffee lovers delight. The service was timed perfectly and the wait staff is professional and cordial. The portion size was perfect for us. If you are in a hurry this is a great place because they want you in and out asap. The food is good, but the food comes rushing out of the kitchen. So if you want to relax and enjoy your meal, I suggest going elsewhere. Even after telling the service people(you have several servers) you want to slow down the service and not to fire the food items, they do it anyway. We were a family of five at dinner tonight. We walked in at 5 PM with no wait. The service was excellent. The waitresses were extremely friendly and accommodating.. We shared the following appetizers: sourdough bread topped with ricotta, pistachio, and honey; the burrata; and Caesar salad. Every appetizer was delicious and the ingredients were extremely fresh. Had a wonderful meal at this adorable new restaurant. Found Clemmy's while searching yelp and what a find! The menu was concise but with more than enough to chose from. I had the beet salad and my husband had Caesar salad. Both excellent. We had steak for our main with the most delightful mushrooms! We passed on dessert but the offerings were amazing. Not sure what all the hype is about. We were a party of 7. Yes, great vibe and good service but the food was less than worthy of 5 stars. Fried chicken was the Monday special, cooked well but left a very bad aftertaste in mouth. Old bay crab bucatini was so fishy it was not edible, Caesar salad was just lettuce with fresh Parmesan cheese on it, no dressing and the last dish was pasta with parm and pepper, again no sauce. Very dry. On a higher note, the ricotta bread and the street corn were delicious. Don't know if it was just a bad night but not worth the price. read more

Last week was the first time we ate at Clemmy's and the experience was 10/10! The food was delectable, mouthwatering and left us wanting more. We started with the Classic Caesar Salad and the Evengrow Sourdough- one order of each and enough to share for 3. For entrees, we enjoyed the Old Bay Crab Spaghetti and the Long Island Duck Breast. We then finished the night with the flourless chocolate cake and fresh coffee. So yummy. The only competition the food had was with the cozy ambiance and the lovely service. Yes, this place is as good as all the other reviewers said. Why is it in a nondescript strip mall in tiny Waretown, NJ? No idea. Don't think too much, just go. Our party had the charred carrots and the tomato burratta for appetizers, and the schnitzel, the duck, and the night's steak special for entrees. Everything was exceptionally prepared, flawlessly presented and totally delicious. We've eaten at some of the top restaurants in the world and this meal rivaled them. I really had a wonderful time dining here. The appetizer was Pork Belly, and it was very delicious! The pork was tender and soft and the skin was nice thin and crispy. It was accompanied by apples and a sweet sauce but it was a very nice twist to the usual pork belly that I eat. The entrees were even more delicious! I usually eat duck in China town and I was craving for some and the duck here is very outstanding, a burst of flavor and that crispy duck skin just makes the whole meal and I was able to try the pork chop too and that was just also out of this world. I'm usually not the sweets/ dessert type but I think I just fallen for their orange cake. It had a crispy factor and soft one too and the ice cream in top just completes this desserts. Even the toffee pudding! The toffee flavor was very prominent and I enjoyed it. The servers were very nice and Sue was very friendly. The ambiance of the place is very intimate and romantic. 1st timers: Went hungry, left less than satisfied. We were in the area and asked my wife to find a seafood place, well it has a very limited menu and even less of seafood. The reviews must be by friends because I do not see this place as 5 stars. We got there around 5:35pm, it was crowded and very loud, but we got a table luckily. By the time we left 6:50pm there were people waiting. We had the Scallop app, which was the star of the meal; cooked to perfection and came out pretty quickly. My wife ordered the Viking Village Tilefish, which is considered a delicacy but the portion was not worth the price. I ordered the Braised Short Rib, which was slightly dry; again for me not worth the price. The flavor profiles were okay. What hindered the experience and disappointed us, it took 35 to 40 minutes for our food to come out. Farm fresh to table, I believe farms have vegetables which there were none along with no starch; no sides, the meal is protein only. We ordered 2 deserts and 2 coffees, again, nothing special. I understand with a BYOB, prices tend to be a little higher, but this place is about 18% to 23% higher than others. I live up in North Jersey, and for what you spend here, you get a lot more up north. I just do not see what makes this place so special that people are willing to wait long times. We go out to eat 1 to 2 times per week. We are retired and baby boomers and we see the world a little different than today's generations, but if this is what they are satisfied with, then so be it, who am I to say different. From my experience and what I saw, I am sure Clemmy's will be in business for a long time, but not for me. read more

Best restaurant in Ocean County! Food is amazingly delicious. Especially recommend the Pork Katsu and the brussel sprout app if they're on the menu. Menu seems to change frequently, which I like. Desserts were great as well; we had the apple pavlova and the orange cake, both excellent. BYOB, which is great. They make "mocktails" so bring some vodka or rum along with the wine. Heard some really nice things about Clemmy's and decided to give it a try. Was concerned about a wait because they don't take reservations and it was a Friday night but whoever I spoke with on the phone was incredibly friendly, professional and set my mind at ease. We were seated immediately when we got there. The service and professionalism at this establishment simply isn't seen or experienced that much anymore. Everyone there seemed like they wanted to be there, like they enjoyed being there and wanted us to enjoy our time there. That goes such a long way and for some reason is a miss in the hospitality industry these days. Then there's the food and as a chef, I'd give it 9.5 out of 10 slammin' ! My wife had the swordfish and it was as good of a dish from soup to nuts (although no soup or nuts included) that I've seen in a while. First off, as described in the menu, it was Barnegat Light/ Viking Village caught sword. That's huge to me and right for so many reasons and why every local restaurant doesn't take advantage of their proximity to local sources - from fishing boats to farms - is beyond me. (as the crow flies, Clemmy's is 3 miles from Barnegat Light. If a restaurant doesn't milk, bottle and market that, I don't get it. Clemmy's does.) The sword steaks were prepared paillard style, pounded thin like cutlets (who does that around here with swordfish?), grilled to perfection and served with an impeccable presentation of salsa verde, which showcased the shaved, marinated fennel, grapefruit, orange slices and radish and greens with two separate delicate sauces. The fennel greens were such a nice touch for presentation and flavor and the delicately sliced grapefruit was a thoughtful and skilled addition. The base sauce was so wonderful and reminded me of a mignonette but had a bit more going on. The second sauce, a spicy japanese mayo w a toasted sesame and I think ginger undertone, was cleverly and conservatively added as almost an afterthought but lent so much flavor and color to the dish. When I spoke with our server about the dish, who was as good as it gets, she was more excited about it than me. You would have thought she caught it and cooked it. (maybe she did). Love it. I had to get the old bay crab bucatini because how often do you see old bay crab bucatini ? ...and it had really good reviews. Bucatini was cooked to perfection and the dish was super tasty and satisfying. If you like bucatini, blue crab and old bay, this will make you a happy camper. Only thing was it was a bit salty - but so is old bay. I'm not sure if more salt was added in preparation or that was just the old bay itself. Either way, minor issue and I wasn't getting anything better than this dish for miles and miles, including L.B.I. We also had the tomatoes and buratta, because again, when do you see tomatoes and buratta around these parts? I'm just happy to get a block down the road without a "way to go Brandon" sign. Our server explained that everything was farm to table. I want to know where their farm is because you don't see tomatoes this amazing this time of year for a couple / few weeks. Long winded review but this place deserved it. I hope they stay true to what they are doing and continue putting in the passion. Oh, lastly, they had a guitar player. It's a relatively small space so she was just a bit loud for easy conversation, but other than that, the young lady was excellent. I'll eat old bay crab bucatini and listen to acoustic covers of Neil Young and Tears for Fears all night long with my lovely wife. I thought she added to the whole experience - dinner and a show! We shared the peppers with whipped feta and fresh tomatoes with burrata. I would recommend both! Our entrees were the crab pasta and beef short ribs. Both entrees were beyond delicious! Now the coffee was one of the best I've ever had. It was French press and I would go back tomorrow for a breakfast cup. Our desserts were a root beer float and flourless chocolate cake. From the homestyle kitchen decor to the amazing welcoming service to the unique yet familiar food, this place is phenomenal. My fiancée and I had the sour dough bread and it tasted so fresh with a perfect mix of sweet and salty. All the dishes really complimented each other. I love the idea of a menu that is constantly innovating and unique week to week. The dining experience feels like a high class NYC tasting menu cuisine yet not with that tasting menu wait and price. The Barnegat/Waretown/Forked River area is so saturated with bars and Italian pizzerias it's great to have something so unique to this area and I cannot wait for their expansion. From the food to the service this restaurant is truly a gem. Liz our waitress was wonderful. The way she described every dish, made you want to order it. We were 3 girls & we shared everything. For apps we had the Caesar Salad & the Sourdough toast with the whipped Ricotta. Both were absolutely delicious, & I would order both again. For mains we had the tilefish, short ribs, & the tuna.
