Went to Captain's Inn tonight for dinner and it was wonderful as always! The oysters on the half shell are my absolute favorite--fresh and delicious every time. We also enjoyed a crisp Caesar salad, perfectly cooked prime rib, and finished with cappuccino and tarts for dessert. Everything was fantastic from start to finish. Such a perfect way to kick off Labor Day weekend!

Just venting here... Decided to take a break from this nasty storm and hit Captain's Inn for lunch w/my husband... been awhile since I've been there and I have to say that I was so surprisingly disappointed in the food. The obviously frozen, out-of-a-box, beer-battered fish and chips that I ordered were worse than any fish I've ever been subjected to eating in my life (my hubby said that Gorton's fish sticks that we ate as kids were tastier than these)... he wasn't lying. His crab cake sandwich smelled fishy and had little flavor other than the giant ring of red onion that they added, which completely overpowered the sandwich altogether (he removed 3/4 of it just to attempt to taste any crab at all)... we would have sent everything back weren't we exhausted from worry about boat/house issues with the weather and much in need of food and a drink at that point. Pretty sad that a place called the 'Captain's Inn' had the grossest seafood I've eaten in many, many years. All in all we ended up laughing that we spent $100 on two orders of French fries and two glasses of Chardonnay and a Surfside. Oh well, C'est la vie! But it will def be the last time for us... ‍

The service was good, price for the meal a bit extended, you don't get a lot of food here but it's tasty, definite return for when you're in the mood for local seafood. The place is nice on the water, no matter which season. Light on parking, it's not a romantic setting, but the atmosphere is lively, good energy. The seafood is the best on the menu, the coca cola steak it's too pepper corned for my liking, but it's tender. Give it a try, you will be pleased with the experience.

Fun spot to sit outside on the water and enjoy a nice day. I loved the vibe but the food and drinks weren't so hot. I had a margarita and an island chicken wrap. The margarita was weak and very sweet - just tasted like mix. The chicken wrap didn't have too much flavor and needed a sauce. The wrap came with fries and those were awesome! They were extra crunchy and freshly made. I'd go back for the views, fries, and I'd stick to a beer!

The Captain's Inn Tiki Bar is open in the summer right across from the main building of the namesake establishment. It's hidden away in the older part of Lacey, and you just need to know it's there. They are located right on the water next to boats docked at a marina. It's great if you want to go to an outside bar in the summer, but you don't feel like driving over the bridge to LBI or Seaside. They have nightly live music, which is enjoyable. At first I didn't realize, but they do have a house beer, which is a pale ale made by the NJ company Flying Fish. They also have summer bites for sale. The food isn't fabulous, but it's appropriate for such a venue. They can be really crowded on the weekends in the summer, but weeknights are just right.

These weren't the greatest donuts or coffee I've ever had, but what really tipped the scales for me…read morewas the price and most importantly customer service. I wandered in here on the 4th of July probably around 7am-ish after misreading Google Maps and taking an ill-advised walk from our Airbnb down a solid chunk of Route 9. (There was a pedestrian path on the other side of the road that looked very peaceful in comparison and I just didn't feel like crossing the highway to get on it - 100% on me). As soon as I saw the crowded parking lot, I knew this was probably the only mom and pop game in town - there's a Dunkin nearby at least - and that this was a locals place through and through. The interior is small, and it felt probably even smaller because it was packed with locals, all of whom were super nice to me. The door was held for me both going in and out, and milk was offered/handed to me for my coffee by a fellow customer. Any mild issues I had in moving around the room were negated by the hospitality. The back wall of the room and side counters are dominated by pastries, and there's a coffee station to the left of the entrance that's similar to what you'd find at a gas station convenience store - low maintenance for sure but gets the job done. The display of donuts behind the register caught my eye before anything else, so I opted for two of those - chocolate frosted and strawberry frosted. There were a few edgier flavors including a 4th of July themed blue one but I don't typically mess around with the classics. They were pretty tasty - decent size for sure, maybe a little cakier than I typically prefer, but the dough was on the airy side and I liked that they didn't skimp on the frosting. I grabbed an additional coffee for one of my top-tier chums (two of whom came to rescue me from a return walk down Route 9), and the total - two coffees and two donuts - came to a little over $5. We were all delightfully flabbergasted. That typically gets you maybe a caffeinated beverage closer to the city. Worth a stop for sure if you're in the area. In the low-key land of strip malls between Seaside and AC, I'd much rather go to a little standalone shop like this, as would my wallet.

I did of course wait until last minute and only had a week to plan (would have like to give the woman my order maybe 2 weeks out, but I took a shot) and they were very, very accommodating. The cookies were perfect 3 different designs beautifully iced and finished no stencils all hand piped , individually wrapped and ribbon tied. The best part is they were also delicious, they were not made a week out or 10 days they were a fresh home made cookie. I went with the sugar cookie. I think next time and absolutely there will be a next time I will give the spice cookie a go. If you want a home made cookie favor and want it to be special definitely check out Creative cookies you will not be disappointed.. I will be back. Bon appetite..
