We really enjoyed this place, however, your cashier was far from pleasant. There was no personality and an "I don't want to be here working" mentality. We have always had good customer service there, but today was completely different. When a customer asks your opinion, a shrug and "I don't know, I don't like cheesecake" is not a very good answer. Times are tough with hiring, but hiring kids who don't care about your customer base will bring a place down just as quick. I was always happy shopping at this deli, until yesterday when I believe one of the employees' ignorance changed my opinion of the place. It has become one of the busy spots in our town, and I believe because of this, clients or patrons, are now dispensible. I had a coupon which I printed from asbury park paper on the internet, I called before I went to make sure the cp was still good. I was told they would honor it. When I arrived, the old man there who is normally cool and short with his attitude, threw it back at me and said in a very loud voice, this is a copy! I tried to explain I download my coupons instead of buying the paper, but he jeered and said this expired on the 17th. It was the 18th but they did say on the phone, they would accept it. I don't want to be read as someone who's pissy because of one bad experience... I'd rather use this platform as a way to caution people whenever they're buying sub sandwiches from this place. First of all, they make an AWESOME sub sandwich...when it's made right. That's what brings me back. They're prices are too high, and $14.50 is an awful lot for a sub sandwich...I go as a treat, because every now and then, I want something gourmet. HOWEVER, I shouldn't have to pay that kind of money, and then come home to remake the whole sandwich because the people behind the counter simply don't listen. The kid behind the counter, in his mid twenties, must be related to the owner, because 10 out of 10 times, he's screwed up my sub. I even saw him get yelled at by the owner / boss / his dad? / who knows, for not paying attention. Last Saturday, I ordered a whole Italian sub with EVERYTHING on it, including oil, mayo, vinegar - heavy on all three, AND sweet peppers. This kid left this sub drier than the Sahara, barely put any mayo on it, and there were like 3 peppers (which were tasteless)... I basically got a fifteen dollar ham sandwich. And what really burned my ass is that he didn't even put onion on it - ONION. Hello?! EVERYTHING on it, retard. This isn't the first time I've had to deal with this - if you're dealing with the young kid, ask for someone else. He either needs to lay off the pot, or be fired.
