Jamie and his team at Cove Auto Repair are stellar mechanics with excellent customer service. I met…read moreJamie because he was buying my used Subaru that had just blown a head gasket. I mentioned that the car we were considering buying had some issues and he stopped me before I could tell him what it was doing. He proceeded to list off every symptom exactly, and to tell me what the problem was. Then he said "hi, I'm your new mechanic" and he was right. He and the team are highly skilled, and they don't over charge. They will be honest about whether or not the work is worth it for your vehicle, which is important when you drive a 96 Chevy S10 like I do. We will definitely keep going to Cove as long as they are open and we live in the Asheville area. Cannot recommend highly enough!!

Took my car there in December of last year. I had a radiator leak fixed and got an oil change…read more January 1st, my car died. Come to find out, the oil filter came off and my engine locked up. I get it, stuff happens. Went a couple of months not being able to get them to look at it. I wrote a bad review. FINALLY got the owner to return a call. I agreed to take the post down and was nice enough to give him until June to check it out and fix it, because I was in a treatment center and couldn't drive anyway. Have yet to hear a word from him. I ended up selling my car for $2000 (Blue book was $8500 before they "fixed it"). Tried to hire a lawyer to sue him but I guess it's too hard to prove, which he obviously knows. You should let the fact that you have to leave a message to actually talk to anyone be your first warning.

Dolphin has done some extensive work on my older car over the years, some that was quite expensive…read moreand I've wondered about the quality of their work as the results seem less than spectacular. I don't know much about cars in general and tend to accept what a mechanic tels me. That said, I had some necessary work done by a mechanic at Dolphin automotive the week after hurricane Helene came through. All the other local auto mechanic shops were destroyed or out of service due to lack of electric and water service. I was charged $95 for diagnosis (? I already knew what was wrong with the car) plus $95 for a switch (??) and $95 for labor. My car ran just fine when I drove it into Dolphin's station that day. After the work was done, which by the way, did not involve the engine, the car started missing badly as soon as I drove out. Back at the mechanic, told me a part had been broken and I needed to replace the entire assembly. Denied having broken the part, which I find hard to believe. Why would my car run fine before they worked on it, to not run afterwards? As I stated before, Dolphin mechanics have worked on my car several times and have done an ok job, nothing outstanding. I now suspect they pad their invoices but can't prove anything, just like I can't prove the worker broke my part. However, after this last incident I will no longer patronize the shop and will not recommend them to anyone I know.
