I really don't want to leave this review, because they seem decent folks who do good work... when they actually do it. I inquired about repairing a scratch in my car door at Silvers 2 in late March, after a wait, they scheduled me for May 16 - I get it, folks are busy. Sometimes there's conflicts with insurance, and I get that too, which is why I offered to pay up to $500 out of pocket if they were having trouble with approval. I also asked if they could look at the brakes, bc they felt funny and was told I'd get an estimate. My car sat on their lot for a week, they charged me for an alignment that probably wasn't needed without fixing or even looking at anything. I tried checking on the progress late in the week and was given unclear, evasive answers. When I picked it up a week later, Robbie (I assume the owner) told me a sob story about personnel, partially blamed me for not having a check-in-hand from insurance, and said he would get it back in later priority. I've been calling for MONTHS since then with no one ever picking up or returning my calls when I leave a message. The icing on the cake? When I said (for the third time) that the brakes might be going, he insisted I use his guys, even though they couldn't take the time to look in a whole week. The brakes failed the next week, and I had to do emergency repairs. It could have all been avoided with some honesty and open communication. read more

okay so this isn't the location I went to I went to the one on leister hwy. I went in to do some body work, got my car back with at least 3 problems. They left marks all inside my car from they're dirty hands and my car is beige from the inside. I had to clean it up my self and also my remotes to lock and unlock my car both stopped working remind you my car is brand new!!!! not even my second remote was working so they defiantly did me dirty and messed w something they had no business messing with. So now thanks to them I'll have to fix that problem that I didn't even have before I took it to them. Okay the owner very very nice man but I did not have a good experience. I cannot say enough for this business! Last year I knocked the door handle off my 2014 Honda Accord. I ordered a new one online but after weeks of failed attempts from me and many of my friends and neighbors we were unable to get it on. I drove by Silvers and explained my situation and they immediately made the repair. They would not accept payment and simply said they were glad to help! A few months ago my uncle side swiped my car and I was in need of professional help again so I went straight to them. They did the repairs necessary for a fair price in a reasonable amount of time. My car was new again! Unfortunately my drivers door had leakage problems with all this rain and we discovered the gasket around the door had come detached and they fixed it the moment I appeared at their business. They apologized for the problem and asked me to call back the next week to make sure no further leaks happened. The next week it started to leak again. Evidently my fancy, smart entry keyless Honda, had this weird electrical system that caused the car alarm to go off after a hard rain when it leaked. I had to replace my battery and tarp the car until I could get by again for them to look at my problem. They checked into it again and discovered the roof rack had shifted and allowed water to get in and set the alarm off after soaking the floor board. This was not caused by their repairs or the door gasket, but they smiled and repositioned the rack but did not charge me. Who would have believed that within a week I was up at midnight, after the rain, disconnecting my battery and covering my car with a tarp again. The floor board was soaked and I was furious! Only in 2020 could this really be happening. I brought them my car and they politely agreed to take a look again. Well this time they brilliantly discovered my sunroof drains had clogged causing the backed up rain water to drain into my car. I was skeptical but they convinced me they were certain and once again did not charge me for their work! Needless to say the clogged sunroof had nothing to do the original repairs! It has rained several times since then and no leak, no car alarm and no wet floor board! These guys are true gentlemen and great car body specialists! They are knowledgeable, professional, and kind. SILVERS AUTO SERVICE is what makes authentic Ashevillians, their team has reminded me that there are still good humans in this world, in this country, in this state, and in this town (even in my neighborhood)! Silvers was referred by a friend in the community. She said she sends everyone there. I am new to Asheville and wanted someone I could trust. I called to get a quote on getting some repairs done on my sons car. The response was quick and I was asked to send some pictures of the damage by text. Then I never heard anything back. When I walked in I was immediately greeted with a warm welcome by the woman behind the desk. I explained my situation and she wandered off to find Ronnie. Upon meeting Ronnie he gave me a huge grin and hearty handshake. We chatted like old pals as we walked to my car. He gave it an attentive assessment explain what he was seeing that needed work. We then went back to his office where we went over the different parts and prices. He showed me his computer and the information he was using. Everyone I interacted with either on the phone or in person was exceptionally nice and helpful. The work they did on my car was great. They repaired four different things that needed to be repaired, and I got my car back in just over 24 hours (dropped my car in at 9:00 am one day, and the next day the car was ready around 4:00 pm). An area on my bumper that was fixed looked flawless -- it looked like nothing unusual was ever even there. Considering the backstory as to why I brought my car to Silver's, they relieved me of a lot of ongoing tension related to the circumstances with my vehicle. Heath was very kind, considerate and helpful from the first time I met with him 3 weeks before I dropped my car in to be repaired. Each interaction I had with him thereafter, was met with the same kindness, consideration and helpfulness. I will go on record to say that I'm a good judge of character, and Heath is sincerely a trustworthy guy. I had expected the cost of repairing my seat belt issue to be much higher than it was, but in the end it was much lower. I have only very positive things to say about my experience with Silver's. Silver's is a family business begun by Heath Silver's grandfather back in the time when reputation was paramount and dealing ethically with customers was as important as the quality of one's work. The shop has been in the same place all these decades. In a town like Asheville, where businesses open one day and close the next, that says a lot. If you read reviews of Silver's both here and on Angie's list, you'll hear about their excellent work, the care they take of both you and your car, and how they go the extra mile (e.g., rendering a little ding less noticeable by rubbing or gently painting it into invisibility). What you might not learn is that Heath Silver is a deeply ethical man who treats each customer as though they were the only person on the planet and will take the time to address each of the concerns one by one, until the issues have been resolved...and the customer knows s/he has been heard and understood. I picked my car up yesterday evening at the end of a very long day. When Heath gave me the credit card slip to sign, I looked at the amount,saw that it was correct, signed the slip, and went on my way. Early the next morning, however, Heath called to tell me that he'd inadvertently run the card through his machine twice, thus charging me twice for the same amount. He said there were two ways to fix it: I could come in later in the day, he would give me a check for the duplicated amount, or he could run my card back through the machine to credit me with that amount. It could have taken me months to figure out what was going on with that credit card account. If I had a lot more money than I do, I might never have noticed it. Bottom line: Heath could've just let it slide, but he didn't. Instead,he phoned the following day to acknowledge the error and to suggest two different ways of undoing the mistake. But wait -- there's more. On my way home last night, I'd noticed some difficulty turning the wheel (as though the power steering had quit), the brake felt spongy, and the car made a weird noise when I put it in Park, applied the hand brake, and then removed my foot from the brake. Since these oddities were new, I wondered if they could have been related to the accident. Since that's not a determination to be made over the phone, Heath agreed to check it out when I came in for the check or the re-running of my credit card. I know how some other mechanics 'check out' a problem after they've been paid: they drive it around the block, wait a few minutes, and then return the keys to you saying, "It's fine," whether it really is fine or not. What Heath did was very different. While I sat in the passenger seat,he drove around town asking questions, trying to duplicate the circumstances in which the strange noises occurred, and listening to the car. He really paid attention. We drove up hills and down, parked facing up hill and down, and made a lot of curly turns. All of this took at least 30-45 minutes of Heath's time, if not more, but he never seemed annoyed or rushed. For him, the questions were "Is it possible that these steering wheel and odd brake noises are related to the accident?" and "Related or not, does any of them present a danger to the car's owner?" That the problems turned out to be unrelated to the accident isn't important. What I think is important is this: --Had they'd been related to the accident, Heath would have called the insurance adjuster and worked with him to 'reopen' the case. --Heath took the time to listen and, ultimately, to put my mind at ease, even going so far as to call the wheel mechanic to doublecheck with him --and he was nice about it throughout.. As soon as I walked in the door, I was met with genuine kindness. I knew I was in the right place. All of my friends recommended I go to Silver's after my insurance company sent me to a different shop that left me with corrective repairs. It is not the best situation for a body repair shop to inherent someone else's mistakes, but Silver's took on the challenge and I am so thankful they did.
