I have heard so many screen doors at friend's homes that slam when allowed to close by itself, it is so annoying. Happy to say my screen door closes perfect! This company is busy for a reason, they have the quietest retractable screen door on the market. I recently showed off my screen door to some neighbors, some of whom I did not even know, which resulted in the sale of 10 doors for ClearView. . We've had our Clear View retractable screen for years and have been happy with the screen and service when needed. When we replaced our front door, Clear View removed and replaced the screen for a reasonable price. Lately, the screen had been acting up, and unfortunately, I pulled it all the way out. Larissa, was helpful in setting up a time for a Technician to arrive to fix the screen for a reasonable price. Sean, had the curtsey to call me to give a time for his arrival. Sean replaced a spring and we were good as new. I read a review question about a pet being able to go under the closed screen. Our screen has a slide lock on top and bottom to keep the screen from opening if pushed by one of our pet cats. To avoid our cats from going under the screen, I purchased an adjustable screen used for sash windows. I just open the sash screen to the width of the front door to avoid our cats from going under the screen. read more

We had the owner of this company out to give us a bid. He was very strange and took hours at our house just to give a bid. We should have known better at that point but we sent in a deposit last summer because he really talked up their product. We were very clear we wanted the work done by Thanksgiving which was many months away and they said they could get the job done. We paid the deposit, which was thousands of dollars. The owner contacted us once after we paid saying he was coming over that day to get the final measurements before production, but we weren't home. He never tried to schedule again. No work has been done on our shades and it's almost Thanksgiving. They have had our deposit for many months and we have been asking for a refund. So far we haven't received a refund, so we are thinking we are going to have to take them to small claims court. What a giant hassle! I would avoid this company at all costs. read more

Of all the home improvement projects we've done to our house in the past 22 years, our ClearView retractable screens are hands down our favorite. We've had them now for 10 years and they hold up remarkably well, even when dogs and people run into them! They look amazing and have held up well through the years. We just had a few doors replaced so had to get a new screen for one door and have another screen's size modified to fit the new door. Doug the installer is a true gem. Had a few tricky issues with our door's configuration and he diligently worked through the challenges and made them both look fantastic. They also have great customer. We were missing a few screw covers so called the main office and they had them in the mail within a day. Took our clearview screen installer 3 tries and we are left with open gaps at every corner. 1st try they raised the threshold so you had to step up to enter. 2nd try they used a threshold that directed water indoors. Final attempt left holes in new door jamb and open gaps at every corner of the screen. We have 6 phantom screens that are far superior.​ read more

When I first started looking for screens for my French Patio doors. I looked at several different brands. However I kept coming back to Clearview. Main reason was for the speed reduced. With you grandkids, I wanted something safe. Sarah at the office was very nice and understood what I wanted. I was out of there area and referred me to a local guy, but he wasn't installing anymore. No problem Sarah to the rescue talked to her boss and he agreed to come out. Today (4/28/2020) Shawn showed up, introduced himself and started working. He was very efficient and fast. He cleaned up after the install and even vacuumed any small fragments from the install. Once he was done he showed me how the door functions, how the one side (left) can stay shut and locked into place. I opted for the internal magnets and the standard nylon door handle. Shawn left me with stickers to prevent people from walking through it and left me with a bottle of track silicone lube to make sure the screens keep moving smooth. I am so happy I chose ClearView. Goodmorning: Very good response from the receptionist. I wrote her name down. But I would like to write the review now without postponing. She called me few times to verify information. She was patient and accommodating for my rescheduling. The work was completed few weeks ago. Anthony came early which was very good and fixed it nicely. It was the third time that I asked for the service from ClearView Retractable Screens. I am totally satisfied with the process and the product. I have 2 installed in my home. I was planned to install one more back in 2009 or after the second installation. I do not remember the first and second installation dates. But I decided against the 3rd screen door. It is a safety concern and it is not safe here for me. It used to be safe but anymore and it will be very easy for anyone to poke a hole and sabotage the screen. Because of the safety reason, I am not sure whether leaving my entrance door open and have only the Clearview Screen for the air to come into my home is a good decision or not. read more

The service I received from the local vendor was good. But the screen has a major design flaw. The wind blows the screen out of the track top and bottom which allows bugs and critters to get in. The purpose of a screen is to keep them out and let the fresh air in, we initially had the " No Seum " screen installed and it came out of the track top and bottom with a light wind daily. At the suggestion of the installer, we switched back to the standard screen and it works a bit better, but it is still affected by light wind. The overall retractable design and quality of the material used is great. But the screen design is flawed because light wind keeps the screen out of the tracks top and bottom. I emailed the company and spoke to the owner Andrew on 11/30/2023 and he asked for pictures of the issue. To date no response back! Now I also have a Lifestyle screen on my garage door. The retractable screen design on that door never has an issue with the screen coming out even on days when there is a 20 to 30 mph wind. Something Clearview needs to look at to make their product even better. read more

Two retractable screen doors in my former home several years ago were a great addition to the home, and they were still working when I moved. So I ordered two more screen doors from Clearview using Don Lezotte out of San Jose for my home in El Cerrito. Other vendors may charge more! It takes a few weeks to get measured and then installed but well worth the wait and cost. The screens are another window allowing light and fresh air. Secure with lock if requested. The screen is flexible enough that it bends if accidentally pressed. Installation was perfect, and colors available to match door frames. When I had a question about removing the screen doors if needed for future deliveries, Don was ready with answer and willing to help. I purchased 3 clear view screens in 2018 and our Newfoundland barreled right through one of the screens ripping it out before Shawn the installer had a chance to walk down the stairs! Shawn put the screen back together as we held the doggie back, but as you can guess he continued to break through, so we took the screens down and waited. This year our sweet Newf passed away so we scheduled to reinstall the screens! Shawn was great efficient and helpful. This is a product that is well supported and I highly recommend! read more

We just purchased 3 retractable screen from ClearView. They are for replacing conventional door screens. The installation was smooth and easy, and right on time. Shawn, the installer is very professional and performed a great and clean job. He didn't left mess at all. Now, the doors look so clean when screen are not in use, and when used, they are barely noticeable. The magnets hold the doors well and the screens open and close smoothly. O a, considering now putting on on a large sliding door. That will give a great view of the back yard. read more

We bought our house in early 2011 and the previous owner had had ClearView install both a front door screen along with the back French doors. We use them all the time with zero issues. 12 years later, we have just completed an addition and have another set of French doors that need a screen. Dan (the owner) came out today and was fantastic! Not only did he break everything down for us (costs, screen options etc), he stayed just to chat. Two retractable doors installed in 2020. They look very good and blend in well with my alder patio doors. The issue is service and warranty. First it takes about 1.5 months now to get someone out to service. Why is this important? I've gone through 3 screen replacements on one of the doors, and now am awaiting a fourth. Screen replacements aren't covered and require a service call fee and re-screen fee (quite expensive). These screen ripped out 2 weeks after the last install with light to little use. Obviously a defect, but don't expect them to care or warranty this. Typical frustrating response "screens aren't covered under our warranty, sorry." Looking for replacement screens, would love to know of reliable retractable screen providers... Agree from other user's posts. Extremely fragile. The screen looks to be looped over a fragile fiber rod and heat sealed back to the screen. No wonder it comes apart so easily. I could think of a lot more reliable ways to do this... read more

We love our retractable screens. Doug was easy to work with - we had a number of large French doors (some with fixed panels on either side), and custom molding to work with. We're super happy with the results and have a total of 5 retractable screens in various configurations. We had a handle come loose a few weeks ago (years after the screens were installed) and when I emailed Doug, he found time within a week to swing by and fix it. Was using them for Christmas lights for a few years but prices go up substantially each year. Was paying almost $1k this last year and only did the trim on my house an 1 tree. I was OK paying it because the service had been so good but this past year they broke a huge branch off of a mature tree and failed to even mention it to me...when I brought this to their attention they were just like "oh sorry" and offered nothing else. Will find a cheaper option given service seems to have gone downhill. read more

We had to replace our retractable screen door thanks to a new puppy that ran right through it. I did enough research to learn that what ClearView offers is a cut above the other vendors out there. Their product is designed to avoid the "snap" back when opening. It's built in the US and only installed by qualified installers. All of this adds up to both a better quality product as well as one that works as advertised. Price was slightly higher than the others and well worth it... i saw their retractable screen doors at the pleasanton home show and was very impressed with their product and set up an appointment for them to come to walnut creek and measure my opening. dan came out and was very knowledgeable and explained the whole process and outcome. unfortunately it would not work in my situation because i had a certain desired outcome that could not be met though it was not the fault of their product. i offered to pay dan for his time but he graciously declined and would not even accept a tip for his lunch. i still love the product and hope i can find a need for it in the future. read more

Updating my review from pet owners only to any prospective buyers. ClearView sent a tech out to look at the problem. He said there was nothing we could do as the screens are factory cut. He did notice that the screen didn't fully retract so he took it off and made some adjustments. Upon looking at the screen, the bottom was completely cut with something jagged. He said, that the screen must have been off balance and that's why it got tangled and cut. IF this happens to their screen after minimal use, either the product is faulty, or the tech purposely messed it up. Either way BUYER BEWARE! read more

I have always wanted a retractable screen door. I was at the Los Atlos Art and Wine, years ago and saw what I liked. ClearView. Well since the SIP I found there card. It was meant to be. Called and Dan Lezotte came out and measured and explained all the options and what to expect. Once the door was made, Joseph came and installed it. I was fully convinced after my sales visit with the founder that this company would stand by its product. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I should have known better when, after I had signed the contract and handed the owner my check- he tells me casually as he's leaving that "these screens are not meant for homes with dogs and they will break- not rebound- if they are accidentally run into". It was beyond obvious that I had dogs when he was writing the estimate- so it would have been nice to know this. I had installed Phantom Screens in our previous home and for 10 years had zero issues- and no issues if the occasional dog ran into it. Sadly, my experience so far, after investing thousands of dollars in this product, has been less than ideal. The bottom of the screens flap around so the seal is not tight, and then..the screen broke off the track within 1 week of opening it (slowly and carefully) just two times, and I was told to fix it myself otherwise I'd have to pay a service fee. The handle of one door broke off (this is not a door that is used often- and is a room where dogs are not allowed!) The doors have been opened and closed probably a total of 20 times since last fall. And.. it turns out the installer drilled into our door flashing and now our ceiling below is leaking. I am sure they will come and fix the handle for a fee - in spite of the "warranty." They do not take any responsibility for installation errors- that is my bad for believing that this local company knew what they were doing. These do not slide seamlessly as his demo did, they are clunky, not well made and the company seems unwilling to fix product issues without the customer paying for the visit. read more

We bought clear view sliders because we loved the ones my in-laws have and are so happy we did. Our two screened doors have screens that are discrete, slide easily closed, and retract smoothly back. We love using the screens in the evenings and early mornings to let in cool East Bay air; it really helps cool down our house without electricity while still keeping bugs out. The company was very accommodating when I needed to move out installation because of a delayed paint job. Very responsive customer service and nice installer who did a top notch job. I usually do not post reviews but I did because today I am so pleased with my Clear View Retractable Screen. I have an over sized 3 panel sliding glass door that I wanted a screen for. When Doug came out to give me an estimate, the Clear View Screen did not really work. The handles were too thick, the screen wasn't big enough and the track presented tripping hazard. Doug checked with the company and they were able to produce a large enough screen. Doug was able to do a custom install to take care of the other issues. My screen is perfect. Getting my screen stalled took longer then I was a promised but I am glad I waited. read more

Good communication and reasonable prices followed by installation woes and delays.

The screens are good quality but not for people with pets. The screen is so sheer that it is almost invisible. My dog runs straight through the screen. When I got my estimate, the owner said that the screen could stretch out and recover if a dog went through. It did recover, but my dog did it a couple more times and destroyed it. My small dog would lift the bottom and walk through it too. Within a year, I had them come back out to repair it and it cost me about $150 to rescreen it. It looked good after the repair and I added a baby gate to slow down my dog. It's annoying I have to add the baby gate. I might just go back to no screen at all. Too expensive and too fragile. I have another one on my front door and it works fine because no pets go in or out. read more
