Mitch came highly recommended to us by our friends who have all used his services. He's so friendly, knowledgeable and easy to work with. His prices are extremely fair. He doesn't have all these extra designers and project managers and phone operators on his payroll, so he is able to have extremely competitive prices as opposed to all those other places who up-charge in order to pay all of the employees. Not responsive and not reliable. So, we pulled the plug and went with someone else. I would rather pay more than deal with someone who never responds. Also, way too much talking and way too many unnecessary stories when people are busy and working during the day. I'm sure Mitch is great with some projects that are maybe of more value to him, but that didn't appear to be the case for us! read more

4 years ago, we did a bath remodel, ceiling removal, and finally got rid of those horrid drapes, left by the previous owners. Mitch responded, where others (typical for the Bay Area) didn't. He made a couple of trips out, arms full of samples, detailed explanation of every product. We ended up with Hunter Douglas day/night shades in the master bedroom, an assortment of other brands/styles in family room, kitchen. Very reasonable pricing, especially considering Mitch's time for multiple trips & installation. Which, BTW, 3 room were completed, in 3 hours. All's great for 4 years. Nary a hick up, mishap, or buyer's remorse. All functioned as Mitch promised. Ooops. 4 years in, the Hunter Douglas shades (which I find out have been re-engineered) failed. Despite Mitch's full booking, he made time to get out within days. Brief discussion of the mode of failure, operation, etc. "No problem". Mitch called Hunter Douglas as we stood there. New units on their way, as I write this review, 20 minutes after Mitch went off to his next customer. (I expected and would have volunteered 4 years of prorated cost for the replacement units. Nope, warrantied.) I'm certain, as Mitch/Hunter Douglas promised, our brand new units will be up and working in ~10 days. Now a response to other reviewers. Let me ask those critical reviewers if your employer had the same expections of you, that you put on Mitch, how long would you last in your job? How would you like the word "unprofessional" in your review, carried from employer to employer, just because you had a bad moment at your desk? What counts is the finished job. This review is way overdue as I had my blinds installed September 2012. Mitch came over to give me a free quote and was very professional in all his work. Explained everything to me very clearly and gave me lots of choices to choose from. I have a very obscure looking large window which is sort of in the shape of a trapezoid (hard to explain). Mitch was able to get me blinds to cover every part of that window which helps a lot in keeping my house cool and eliminating the blinding sun in the mornings. Had to get the blinds adjusted once and Mitch was happy to come over and do it. Highly recommend Mitch and Better Blinds for anyone who needs custom blinds installed for their windows. read more

Mitch was very helpful and seemed great in the consultation, helping me to find the right products for my windows and not pushy at all. I was grateful for this after a very "hard-sell" sales experience with Danmer. However, he said he would email me the prices that day, and then weeks passed (even with my contacting him to remind him). He finally emailed me a total price instead of the itemized list that I asked for. More weeks and emails passed before I got what I asked for. The only reason I didn't find someone else sooner was I had invested so much time at the consultation, but after the long delays I did not have faith that the installation process would be any more efficient, so I ultimately decided to use another company. I was very disappointed as this ended up to be a waste of the afternoon I spent in the consultation and it resulted in delaying my window project by about a month. I expressed my disappointment to Mitch by email and he explained the circumstances causing the delays, and said this was a rare occurrence, however I still felt it important to share my experiences with other prospective customers. read more

After reading the other great reviews we decided to give Better Blinds a call. Mitch, the owner, is very friendly and was patient with us since it took a couple appointments for us to decide what we wanted. Because he doesn't have a showroom, he'll bring all his samples to your home so you don't have to guess how it will look. Once our coverings arrived, we scheduled a time that worked for us to do the installation. The process took a bit more time than we hoped but we're very happy with the end results. I gave Mitch Pool of Better Blinds FIVE STARS two years ago when he helped me to pick out and install the shades for my new townhouse. I'm giving him FIVE STARS again for outstanding customer service. I had a problem with one of the cords on a shade and called Mitch. He was in the neighborhood and came out that afternoon to pick up my shade and send it back to the manufacturer for repair. When it came back, he came out the next day and reinstalled it. We have worked with Better Blinds twice (three times if you count the shades he provided to my mom). Mitch is patient, thorough and knowledgeable. Before I met Mitch, I had an appointment with another window covering company and had a terrible experience. I felt really pressured by the salesperson (plus he was wearing way too much cologne). Mitch might be a nice guy, but professional he is not. He spent a long long time at my house, to the point I just wanted him to leave already and he doesn't take hints well. And then, after all that, he never sent me a quote! I called a week later to inquire, and he seemed shocked that he hadn't sent the quote. And guess what, I still haven't received one!
