We had shutters installed in July of 2018, so they're 5.5 years old. Probably the biggest regret/buyers remorse item we've ever bought. Our total was 16k. Some thoughts on the whole experience: Installers were messy. Styrofoam beads, pieces of packaging left in window sills. Not just a couple, almost every window. Lots of shutters were installed crooked. Claimed my windows were crooked...really? They adjusted some of them to be less crooked but they're still crooked. Shutters were left with sticky residue from packaging. Dirt marks from installers. None of which they cleaned off. Scratches and damage on slats of shutters and frame areas. A lot of the scratches looked like it was the fault of the installers, slicing open the packaging with a utility knife. They did offer to replace slats, showed up on one of the multiple visits to fix issues and they hadn't taken notes of what slat went with what window. I ended up going around myself and replacing slats. Just a low quality product. Scuffs and scrapes. Severe discoloration from the sun. See picture. I contacted them about this, told me I'd have to go thru the warranty. I have gotten absolutely nowhere with this. I mean what are they going to do? Replace everything. Just a poor quality product. Photo is from a west facing window, but all the shutters have this issue. Every. Single. One. Even windows that get minimal sun exposure, even the shutters that are on the front porch windows, north facing, have the discoloration. The discoloration is on every part of their product that gets sun exposure, shutters, slats, frame in the window. The blame for the discoloration lies 100% with their product. For cleaning all I've ever done was to vacuum them off, and wipe off with a damp cloth. No cleaners or anything. Someone needs to tell installers that less is more when it comes to caulk. The only positive thing I can say is the shutters do technically cover the window. I don't recommend this business or the product they sell. Extreme buyers remorse. One of their big selling point about these vinyl or pvc shutters is you don't have to paint them. I wish I could paint them. Business owners also requested I remove my original yelp review before they would come out to address the poor installation issues. I just cleaned them today, discoloration is just getting worse and worse, so posting a review. read more

Updated review: I went through Paul and his company before. Their service and expertise is outstanding. This time around I ordered the cellular (honeycomb) shades with dual coverage (blackout with built in sheer). My wife had her old house done through Paul as well and loved her honeycombs. After meeting with Miranda we chose a style and color that we really loved. The blinds came in and the color and style looked amazing, the blackout definitely helps a lot. The only issue is the size was off. This is in part of the manufacturer not so the measurements of Paul's company. The manufacturer for some reason takes a bit too much off and my window frame unfortunately is not the same size through top to botton so there were noticable gaps which let through light. However, Paul understood my frustration with the gaps. Paul reassured me that everything will be taken care of. He was able to get a new order with measurements that would make it as flush as possible. This is why Paul is amazing and gets it done right. His commitment to his customers is second to none. I mean sure you can go through the "bulk store" but their service is nowhere close. Paul is always available and super easy to talk to. Very personable. I don't normally write up essay style reviews but for Paul I will. If you are ever looking for window covers of any style look no further than Blinds for Design. Poor installation and follow up service. Initial installation rushed and unacceptable. On return, they promised many times to bring back needed parts, but they never arrived. Called over a week in advance to make an appointment for window coverings for my new home. The appointment was scheduled for a Friday at 3pm because I knew I had to be somewhere else at 5pm. At 2:30pm I get a call from a woman at their office telling me the designer is running late and is coming from Hollister. She said it'll be closer to 4pm, but the designer would call me when she's on the way. At this point it's 3:45pm and I haven't received a call from the designer. I called the office and she says she'll call the designer and she'll call me back. The lady from the office calls me back and says the designer hasn't left Hollister yet. I explained this wasn't going to work for me because I had to be done no later than 5pm. She asked if I wanted her to reschedule me, but I told her, "Can you just have your designer call me directly to schedule the appointment so I can have her word?" The lady told me, "Oh yes, I'll have her call you." It's been about a month later and the designer hasn't called me, nor has anyone from the office followed up. We are so happy that we chose Blinds 4Design. The first time we used them, we ordered shutters for the sliding glass door and a smaller window. About a year and a half later, we used them again for shutters for three more windows. The owner, Paul, is very knowledgeable about his products and was able to walk us through all the options we needed to consider. Both times we worked with Blinds 4Design we were happy with the crew that arrived to install them. Ignacio was very efficient with the installation the first time we used them, so we were pleased to see him again a year and a half later for our second purchase installation. Darren assisted Ignacio and was also a pleasure to work with. A short time ago we needed help with removing the sliding glass door shutters so we could have the glass door repaired. Paul sent Darren and Curtis out to remove the shutters, and later sent both out again to reinstall. We recently moved into a custom built home, of all the various contractors and vendors we have worked with over the last year Blinds 4 Design has been by far the best customer service experience! We were interested in the Hunter Douglas line and found the B4D staff even more knowledgeable than their representatives. Also, they have always gone out of their way to address any concern we may have. Product is so-so but the installation is horrible and the follow up service is poor. I can't help but feel like they take your money and then don't deliver on their end. Order was late, never received any sort of communication around the order status. Finally after calling and calling we get someone to come out who installed half of the shutters and then said he didn't have the right parts to finish the work but assured me they would be back soon. No follow up call and no one showed up to finish the work. Ordered in December and here we are 4 months later with half the windows untreated. What was installed is poor quality and unacceptable for the kind of money you pay for window treatment. Even though this is a family owned business and I wish them well, I cannot recommend this place. My recommendation is for them to have their sales team focus on both new leads AND keeping current customer engagement or hire someone other than an office assistant to handle communication with customers. read more

Went in to Blinds 4 Design because a set of cords on a big Hunter Douglas blind in our master bedroom had broken. Not sure whether the whole blind needed to be replaced or whether we could send the old blind back to Hunter Douglas as we have done twice before. The owner, Paul, was so gracious to us, greeting us warmly and paying careful attention to our situation. Because we were anxious to have this situation resolved, he certainly could have directed us to purchase their blinds. Instead, he indicated that they had a person able to fix such blinds in our house and called their staff to check their schedule. He did so, and their staff called us immediately after we returned home and scheduled an appointment for the next day! When the repairman came out, it took him less than 25 minutes to replace the cord and get us back to go! All the work was done professionally, all the staff treated us well even though we weren't big purchasers of their window coverings [yet, because when we do need work done or new blinds and shutters, we will return to them! We needed a 12' rolling shade for 2 large glass garage doors for our business and after searching several locations, Paul at Blinds 4 Designs were the only guys that could complete the work and find a custom shade. Prices were amazing and the completed work couldn't have been done any better. He went above and beyond to ensure he found the right color, style and design we were looking for.
