Advanced Blind & Shade has been around a long time and for good reason. We visited the showroom to get fabric ideas and understand how installation works. Max was awesome to work with; he asked us some questions and then gave us advice on the types of shades and fabrics that would suit us best. Since there were so many choices, we took photos of fabrics we were most interested in. When we were ready to start the project, we called to schedule an in-home appointment for measurements. Todd came out at the scheduled time and helped us finalize our shade choices for each window. We chose a motorized roller shade for our large front porch window -- operated by Bluetooth through a remote or an app on the phone. For all the other windows, we chose cordless roller shades. There were two fabric colors we couldn't decide between and Todd helped break the tie. The shades were produced in under a month. Carol scheduled an install day. Thursday night, my husband let me know the cord that raises and lowers the blinds in his bedroom broke. He needs to be able to close the blinds during the day (when he sleeps), and we had no idea how to get the blind to lower. Friday morning, I called Advanced Blind & Shade in Soquel, CA. Max was totally helpful! After talking about alternatives, I decided it might be smart to get our blinds replaced (they are 22 years old). Max got ahold of Adam, a salesman who was in the area, and within 30 minutes from my first call the the company, Adam was knocking on the door. I'm quite surprised by the good reviews for Advanced Blind & Shade. I have 13 large windows in my home, all shades purchased at Advanced Blind & Shade, all have broken at least once since we got them in 2018. We have had several shades break 5 times and had to bring them in to get repaired each time. Every single one of our shades has issues with going up correctly (most of the time they go up crooked and it takes several tries to get it straight, if it will go straight at all. If having all of our blinds break often wasn't bad enough, I think this company knows that their product isn't good because all of their products are on a 1 year warranty so you have to pay each time you want your VERY EXPENSIVE blinds repaired. Defective products, which these are, should either have a lifetime warranty OR be much cheaper than they are. We paid many thousands of dollars to have a crappy product that breaks often. To get anything repaired, it's over 2 weeks so we currently have front windows without blinds... there's no date in sight to getting these back from the company since they're "very backed up with repairs..." Oddly, this does not surprise me that everyone needs their blinds fixed. I would not recommend every purchasing through this company. read more

Today I had some cellular shades installed from a local company and can't help to share how great a job they did. Apparently they make the blinds right there behind their show room. I went thru several different companies and most of them were giving me appointments months away and then telling me I would need additional appts. Who would want to work with a company from out of state if something needed repair years later anyway? It took awhile to make my blinds since I had a large "trapezoid" window,Art their installer put it up I 18 feet high in about 15 min. Nice natural light and insulation when needed. I broke the mechanism on our solar shade and was worried I would have to replace the whole shade because the the rolling mechanism was frozen and it was an older model shade. I have used Advanced Blind and Shade on two different occasions. Several years ago I had them install some cellular shades at my place of business in Santa Cruz. I was new to the location, and on a tight budget. Bill from Advanced Blind and Shade came over to my shop and showed me some samples. I was able to get shades for all of our windows for a very affordable price. A few years later, we decided to upgrade the shades in the front showroom area. The cellular shades worked just fine, but we were ready to install something a little more professional looking. In addition, the sun constantly beats on that side of the building in the afternoons. We needed something to block that sun. Bill hooked me up with some really nice cordless roller shades that we love. Don't bother going to the "big box" store. You won't save any money, and you definitely won't get the kind of service your will get from these guys. read more
