Tom and his crew installed a black shade sail over my koi pond yesterday, and I could not be more pleased with the results! I had been concerned about the pond getting too much sun and also wanted to add some protection from flying predators. While certainly not inexpensive, I feel the shade sail is worth every penny. Once the shade sail was up, I couldn't get over the difference it made to the look of the pond, not to mention the fact that it cuts 90% of the hot afternoon sun that used to stream through my living room windows, which overlook the pond - just great!! Tom even added some grommets throughout the sail so that rain won't collect. Tom is super nice to work with, congenial, very accommodating, and was true to his word about how long the entire process would take. His four-man crew was friendly, resourceful and incredibly hard-working. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Tom's Awning to anyone wishing to set up a good quality shade sail. read more

Well, my only regret is that I can't give 10 stars. Owner of the company, Tom, came by little over a week ago and was very business like. I was only doing one location (large) and we were able to negotiate a second small patio area. Tom realizes that service is so important, so he got the two awnings up within 8 hours today, and they are beautiful. His three, on the job men, worked for six hours straight without a break. At least two of the men have over 12 years experience each...and it reflects in their craftsmanship. Thank you Tom, for your pleasant personality, and genuinely skilled employees. Great Job!! read more

Thank you Tom for the excellent service and quick turnaround! We purchased these awnings through Costco. Due to recent personal events and health issues we looked for local businesses to install these bad boys. Tom did without any issues and perfectly. What would have probably taken us days to install was done in just hours by Tom and his team. THANK YOU!! read more

I called Tom and he answered right away and was able to come out the next day. He was professional and wore a mask and gave me a quote at the time of consultation. He brought fabric samples (Sunbrella brand) and helped guide me to the color I ultimately chose right away (which was impressive since I'm a designer and very particular). We had an existing retractable awning and just needed to get the fabric replaced, and he said it could be ready as early as the following week. We shopped around and Tom ultimately gave us the best price so we went with him. They were able to install within about 5 days from ordering, and the installation only took about 1 hour. We were very happy with their service. read more

Tom's Awning did such a great job with our new awnings, I would recommend him to anyone I know that needs new awnings or even a repair. He was fast, knowledgeable and provided great customer service. Came across Tom while looking for an awning company for an industrial project in Morgan Hill. Tom is always very quick to reply, fair with the pricing and his guys did an amazing job fabricating and installing a very big awning. They also silkscreened the company logo on there and that was very detailed. Overall excellent experience. They deserve all the business and success that is going their way. Thank you! read more

Tom picked up the phone immediately when called, setup a site visit the next day, and when he came to the site: he was prepared with fabric samples, and a written quote within twenty minutes. I had shopped other awning vendors, and knew he provided a competitive quote on the spot without any fussing. I signed the contract the same day, and had a professionally installed awning the next week. Highly recommend Tom's Awnings for your project. read more

Excellent service! I called Tom based on his Yelp reviews. He answered the phone, set up a meeting in two days, and was exactly on time. I did my homework researching Sunbrella fabric so I was ready when Tom arrived. His quote was fair and accurate, and I signed with him on the spot. The following week his crew came to remove my current awnings to recover them...5 days later I had new awnings. Delighted in every way. Highly recommend. read more

I called Tom and he came out to our home was prepared with fabric samples and gave me a quote at the same time of the consultation. The awning was installed in the time frame that Tom gave me. His crew was very professional and did a beautiful job. This is the second time we have had Tom do a job for us; we had an awning placed in our backyard. We were very pleased with the job, and we knew that when we called Tom for his services, we would be extremely pleased. We are very pleased with the work Tom's workers did in replacing our aged awnings. Tom's price was fair and the whole experience went very smoothly from quote to installation. He even gave us a free awning cranking handle we didn't even ask for (our old one was usable but a little warn). I highly recommend Tom's Awning! read more

Very nice awning on my back patio. A bit more pricey than other companies. Ordered valance houndstoith style but it came with just a straight style, but still ok Forgot to give me hand crank to use if piwer us out but did bring to me 3 weeks later but did not show me how it works, Ugh. Found a very small drilled hole in my stucco. Tom said not caused by them which I sort of agree but wasn't there before. Installers speak very little English but are very nice. Left a mess (metal and plastic pieces) on my patio. Overall a good job though. read more

Shocked that this business such good reviews. One of the worse owner/ sales person I have ever met. Didn't care about customer service. Rude to interact with in person. Sent abusive messages on the phone and all he wanted was pay him first - or he will not do the job. I am surprised how did he get such good reviews or is in business. I would never work with this person. Has no trust or faith in another human being. Comes with a negative attitude, does not listen to what a customer's needs are. Simply complains and imposes what he thinks you should do. I don't mind paying someone else a bit more but to this business - no matter how competent they are I will never want to work with them! Who wants negative energy/ attitude to deal with along with rude behavior. read more

This is not to say that other professional awning companies aren't good, but every time we need an awning we end up going back to Tom. And we do shop around, believe me. He's turn around time is sometimes quicker than just getting an estimate from a competitor. Prices are 20% to 40% lower and the quality is great. Our 3 yr old awning still looks impressive. I had a pleasure working with Tom on an awning replacement for our patio and spa about 2 months ago. Wanted to let time pass by before reviewing so I could evaluate quality of work. First of all, the guy's very professional and prompt. Was able to get a sched and arrived on time. During the whole process, although the turnaround is quick, 1-2 weeks, he very transparent and communicates project updates. Never felt like he treated the job is too small to bother. *Offers suggestions and not up selling. *Price is very reasonable. As far as work quality, The awnings are fastened well and tight. He uses Sunbrella awnings which are the industry standard. Not sure if he's the same Tom Awning with awful reviews dated 2011 but to me it doesn't seem like it or he probably manned up to his business. Overall, I highly recommend Tom Awning. read more

We had a very positive experience with Tom Awning. We were looking to put a canvas roof over an existing pergola we had as we wanted to be able to use the outdoor kitchen area if it was raining. I showed Tom a picture of what I was looking for and he was able to create exactly what we needed. The sunbrella fabric curtains he did for us turned out beautiful, but after the install I contacted Tom Awning to let him know we needed to have a few more button fasteners for so the wind doesn't blow the curtains up when in closed mode. Tom Awning called us back right away and said that they would take care of it. Tom Awning is very customer service oriented and pays attention to detail. We are very pleased with the experience and the end result. read more

Tom's Awning is the best! I had two other awning companies put up one awning each and neither painted the metal under the awning. One awning had cracks on both ends and one awning came with ugly seams. Tom quoted me a a fair price and told me that all metal would be painted and that no cracks or seams would be done. Was he right! The awnings are beautiful, smooth with painted metal and hold up to 100 mph winds. He also replaced a yucky plastic roller shade with the same color high quality material. Tom Awning installed a retractable awning 12x12 in my house on the deck BUT the awning is useless because its not able to block the sun. He charged excessively to merely mount the awning on a beam on my deck which is way less costly than installing on the walls. A respectable awning expert would determine if installing the awning on a deck would in fact block the sun and would advise the customer properly. Tom is refusing to take back this awning which i am very disappointed with. We have had numerous problems with this with the arms dangling twice and very bad installation which is damaging my deck. I had some experts come and take a look and they pointed to several issues with the installation. When i operate it, it sounds like a train and makes a clanking noise. I have filed a complaint with solair. read more
