Greetings, I have been a customer of the clean rite 529 Utica Ave, Brooklyn, NY since 2014. I watched it pass through many owners and workers. I do drop offs because I am extremely busy and have inadequate days off. My experience has been 5 stars for 12 years. This negative review is going up because 2 of my custom work jackets are missing and the "MANAGER" (the lady working today 03/21/2026) labeled herself as management, but have poor customer service and is very aggressive and verbally abusive. She refused to help me, refused to look in lost and found, refused to give me her name, refused to give me the name of management, refused to give me a reliable complaint email, I am therefore here to get the attention of management, the real management that care about customers. Don't just hire anyone for this role. This woman was very angry. On 03/14/2026 I dropped off laundry spent $126 because I had add ons to the laundry including a new laundry bag that cost $20+. Crazy price.... I met the same lady for the first time. I usually see an Hispanic lady, who has been doing a great job. She is the one I have known for years with zero issues. She is about her job, humble, easy going. Asked for that Hispanic lady, the new lady said "she ain't here I am in charge now, I am the new manager and you will be dealing with me a lot," like okay. I just want my stuff washed. She had a big ego and she went on to bad mouth the Hispanic lady and her job performance. Like what the f?? I do not care about that. She went on a full racist rant about the woman as if race equals poor job performance. I drop the items and left. Trying to avoid her. I didn't pick up for 3 days because I saw her there when I went for pick up. Today I am off. I notice my work jackets are missing. I went to Google, grabbed the number and called​, the manager answered. I told her who i was and that I have 2 items missing. She must have came to work angry because she told me, "I am the manager and nobody told me they found anything." She was yelling at me so so loud my mom could hear her through the phone sitting far away. She did not listen to the description of the items, colors nothing. Drove to the store to make a complaint, joined a line to speak to the manager (she refused to give me her name. They need ID). She was discussing me with the customers in the store, she was talking about the ghetto bitch on the phone complaining about missing clothes to me and the other people not knowing who I was. I told her who I was and that I wanted my jackets and she said she already told the boss and he doesn't care. She said it was a white man. No she didn't look for my jackets and she ignored me. I have proof. I told her the cameras in the building would let the boss know she was arguing in front the customers, telling them my business, cursing me and being rude. She told me the cameras don't work in front of everyone in the store and that she didn't care about that job. Wtf? She needs retraining. I want my jackets to be reimbursed. THE BATTLE OF THE DRYERS! I spent 2 hours drying one medium load of clothes. ALL FREE DRYERS WERE OUT OF ORDER! 10 out of 90 dryers "worked" but blew cold air, it was a disaster. People were upset waiting on line to dry their clothes, complaining for hours. No signs on the main enterance explaining the issues which has been ongoing for days. They posted "out of order" signs on the top half of the dryers which was misleading because both top and bottom dryers did not work. People are going in with many large loads not aware that they can't dry properly so they're stuck there with piles of wet clothes! BUT cleanrite made sure the only working dryers were the ones you need to pay for and there was a line for those too... Some washing machines also didn't work but the dryers were the BIGGEST issue. If you're going to pay the inflated prices to wash, you should be able to dry them properly and free, especially stress free! read more

I have been coming to this location for a while but because of todays dismissive behavior I will not be coming back. After wasting money in a large machine my clothes came out with the smell of shit. The whole load smelt like shitty clothes had been in the wash. When staff was alerted I was told the water is the same and it must be my clothes and was offered a smaller machine that would not match what I had lost and was told only one machine. Fortunately, I just happened to be staying across the street from Clean Rite Center. Elsi was so helpful in getting me set-up for same-day service. It was super easy and reasonably priced. So COVID has made everything weird. From getting to work to going out, even things that we took for granted like doing a load of wash is different now. I was pretty devastated when my local laundromat on 5th and Union switched to drop off only. Don't get me wrong, I get why, however, I hate when other folks do my wash (mostly the drying everything on high heat). After a frantic search for places that were still open, we found clean right, and man I don't think I can ever go back to the place up the block. First of all, they take cards* which is such a win in my opinion. Secondly, the sheer number of washers is overwhelming compared to what we are used in by us. More than just the sheer number, the variety of sizes is incredible. Some of them are so large that you could easily fit a few week's worth of clothes, sheets, and blankets, towels...hell a few winter coats as well if you were so inclined**. The parking lot too is large and not a horrible place to sit as your wash is going - walk up to the bodega and get a cup of coffee to pass the time*** . All in all this place is pretty great. They give you laundry detergent if you want it (I still tide pod it), and drying is free (don't get freaked out by the high cost of a load, you have to remember that drying is included in the price). Thanks for changing my perspective on how civil wash can be in Brooklyn Clean Rite, I'm never going back to my old spot. _________ *yes you have to buy their in-store currency, but using quarters to do wash in 2020 is barbaric. **Don't do this; dry clean your coats, heathen. ***but whatever you do, don't try to make it to the taco bell on Flatbush, and back in the 30 minutes it takes to do a load, you'll never make it....not that I tried this). read more

COVID has certainly altered the way we do laundry. Our usual spot became drop off only but thankfully, we had a car and were able to drive down to this CleanRite to do our laundry. The parking lot is relatively small but we have not had any issues getting parking on Saturday or Sunday mornings when we normally come. They have been clean, relatively quiet, and I've not had to wait for washers and dryers. I am thrilled to not have to bring cash or quarters along anymore. Plus there are so many sizes for your wash loads. You can use one GIANT washer for every item of clothing you own or split it between a few mediums and smalls. The dry time is free once you have washed and if you would like, they provide detergent. I can imagine this place, like others I have been to, can get pretty packed on a normal weekend day. But life is currently not very normal and I am not upset that this is our new laundry spot in the slightest. read more

This place is pretty decent. They have same-day pickup services, pretty functional washers, your occasional good dryers (and some not so great dryers that don't get hot). The good: FREE DRY! Pretty amazing. A lot of the dryers will likely be taken during the day, but if you come at night they're usually available. The not-so-good: the wash prices are bumped up some because of the free dry. Secondly, they use a card system where you load your card with cash and then insert into the washers & dryers. Except they don't have an ATM machine so that can make things difficult if you're not carrying any cash. The last mention is a pretty small complaint, but still valid in my opinion: they advertise free wifi on their windows, but I was sad to be told by their staff that there's NO wifi. A bit of a drawback if you were looking to do work or stream something to watch. UPDATE: they now have an ATM. read more

I've been using this clean rite for many years now. The staff has always been very polite and the atmosphere has been great as opposed to other chaotic laundromats. I would recommend this laundromat to anyone who needs a big open spaced laundromat, with sensible traffic. Consistently out of order machines, dirty floors, weird odors in the washing machines and today there was an odd stench inside somewhat like sulfur. Unfortunately, I know this place will keep getting business due to the lack of laundry services in sunset park but this is a shame and the people deserve better. I live in an area where the closest laundromat is 2 long blocks away and only has a total of 8 washing machines. It is reaaaaal frustrating to carry huge bags all the way there just to find out I have to wait an hour for one to be free. The ladies there are also not friendly at all. Anyway, after surveying the 5 giant loads of wash that have accumulated, I decided to drive them to Clean Rite and get them done all at once. Major bonuses for the parking lot, the never-ending rows of different sized washers, and the stacks of dryers. I went on a Wednesday early afternoon and the place was pretty empty. Maybe only 5 sets of people there. On Tues-Thurs mornings, the wash is only 99cents in a 20lb machine. THAT IS UNHEARD OF. You buy a $5 card which gives you $3 of credit (to which you can add more dollar by dollar) and then when you're done, you give the card back for the $2 refund. It's so easy I almost wanted to cry. The moral of the story is that I will still most likely use the dropoff service at the laundromat down the street on a regular basis but when I have things I need to special wash or the loads get out of hand, I will be coming back to Clean Rite. Oh, there are SO many great mexican food spots in the area so take advantage of the 35 minutes of wash time and grab yourself some tacos. read more

Their drop off service is convenient and fast. However I have noticed that the "washed" Clothes do not smell like they just got washed. Smells like the clothes just went through the dryer. The clothing is returned neatly stacked with two or three unused downy sheets included inside the packaging for "freshness". I will not be using their services any longer. read more

I've been to several laundromats in the Sunset Park area. Of them, this is my top choice by far. It has a large free private parking lot for one and is only a few blocks from the subway and bus as well. The place is quite large with lots of seating. Several TVs are playing at all times and one of them is setup playing content appropriate to children, so this place is good for the whole family. They also have a restroom, vending machines,video games, and it is climate controlled (yes you can take off your jacket in the winter). Come here on Tuesday-Thursday for the best deal: 99 cents for a wash. Dryers are approximately 35 cents for 8 minutes (which may be adequate for small loads, but 24 minutes is appropriate for larger loads). Bring cash as the electronic cards you load up require you to use cash to add money to them. The staff is quite friendly and bilingual. The clientele is mostly Latino ESL crowd. read more

Disgusting rugs to wash? Huge items (like nursing pillows and snoogles) that you don't want your closer-but-much-smaller laundromat to see you stuffing into their machines? Want entertainment while you wash? Go to Clean Rite! The one on 39th has video games, lots of chairs, a parking lot, pinball, soda and snack machines, and a bathroom that isn't gross. I'm sure all the Clean Rite Centers are pretty much the same, but I just can't say for certain. It's 30 cents per 8 minutes to dry, and that's 5 cents more than normal. However, the machines are in good working order, and they actually dry. Hooray! No more showing up after 48 minutes and finding your stuff WET. There are top loading and front loading machines. The smallest machine is 99 cents. That rocks. I can stuff a lot in there. They sell detergent. I bought TIDE for 75 cents for a little box. Don't tell, but I split it between two loads. It's too far for twice a week, but I like coming here for major washes. The people watching is pretty good, too. Up the street is the Sunset Diner and Donuts, so you can get a donut or an egg and cheese while you wait. Down the street is Commerce, so you can take your change and watch it jingle down the chute. They usually have televisions going in English and Spanish. Sadly, the English one is usually on Jerry Springer or that other guy. Still, it's worth a visit. read more

Miguel one of the employees who works for clean rite is the nicest guy and is the most helpful he does a great job with cleaning the place and has great customer service he definitely helps makes clean rite a better and friendly place to do your laundry! But calling it a "shop" is a bit disingenuous though. You can't actually "go shopping" here. Caveat Emptor! THEY ADVERTISE .99cent WASH UNTIL 12 MIDNIGHT BUT IT ENDS AT 11:30. I only go to the Clean Rite in Sunset Park, when the laundry is .99 cents a load. There are plenty of other laundromats in the neighborhood that are WAAAY cheaper. Some of them are just as clean. BUYER BEWARE: THE .99CENT WASH IS SUPPOSED TO LAST UNTIL MIDNIGHT, MONDAY THRU THURSDAY BUT STOPS AT 11:30~ pm This has happened to me more than once when I went there on a Thursday after 11:30. They claim its a "computer error", but its not. Its their sneaky policy. Many times you may have to wait for a machine, and if you get there after 11 pm, you may not be able to get the discount. Also as the first respondent said, this laundromat's staff have the tendancy to dumb themselves down and pretend they don't speak English so that they can keep from helping you. read more

24hrs is a big plus, I went late on a weeknight (started washing around 9PM) and there was plenty of availability. The attendant there was very friendly (and patient with my dumb first-time-at-a-laundromat questions). A bunch of front loaders, and a few top loading machines, with the range of detergents and whatnot available. What is annoying is the venue-specific currency, which is *cash only* loaded onto a Clean-Rite card. You pay a $2 deposit on the card, I think returned when the card is returned to the machine? That's pretty annoying, but I've yet to try others in the area so I'll leave it at 4 stars for now. read more

Unbelievable -- third time this happens to me and the last. They advertise "same day service" (lie). They then write "next day at x time" on your receipt. When you make the trip and waste your time, clothes are still not ready. They say "oh we have been so busy today". Guess what? ME TOO and I made a trip for nothing. If I ever did that at my job, I'd be fired on the spot. There are many cheaper options in the area that will actually get your clothes done on time and on the date they say, without the extra costs. It's 24 hours which is a plus, but tell me why there is a cash for gold room located in the front of the laundry. Weird, because the front desk with all the fixins used to be in the front but now due to said gold room, the desk is over to the far right. This clean rite is like all the others, money exchangers, money card purchasing, detergents bags etc. The workers are nice, but they are usually folding clothes or talking amongst themselves. The downside is the parents allow the kids to play in the carts, imagine seeing a kid going down the aisle being pushed by his brother/sister and crashing head on into a machine. Yep!, I've seen that here. Running around and sitting on the folding tables, yep, seen that also. I recommend wiping the table before you begin folding. People with their pets are seen in here too. Again the workers aren't really concerned with much unless brought to their attention. It's an alright laundromat, they also do drop off service as well. *also on the weekends can get ridiculously crowded. Has those heavy duty dryers .75 cents for 8 minutes which is a plus, because they dry items very quickly. Nice sized parking lot.* read more
