Second time using Clean Cut Tree service for landscaping. Had a great first experience a few years ago (quoted fair price, started right away and cleaned up a few areas at no extra charge). My fiancé and I recently purchased a new home together. Our first big project we saved up for was the landscaping. Clean Cut was the first company I called to request a quote. Set up an appointment the first time and was a no show. Fernando apologized and showed up promptly for the next time we scheduled. Received a quote for drainage, trees removed, adjust crooked retaining wall and grading services all around our home. I knew there was a lot of work to be done and I did not try and haggle with the quote that was provided which was over $3k, just wanted it done correctly. Overall most items were completed to expectation (drainage. tree removal and corrected retaining wall). The grading was the biggest let down, there was no real strategy for proper grading. Dirt was shoveled and removed from back and side yard. Only the front yard was done with a small tractor to level out. Areas where items were stacked up did not get moved to clean up, just worked around. Still could see old weeds that weren't removed after job was finished as well as debris left in yard and not thrown away. Fernando followed up and did a walk around and I pointed out several areas as he took pictures to send his crew back over. They came back to clean up some trouble areas, but dirt still in the street and messy. Two different experiences using Clean Cut, one stellar and one lackluster. Tree trimming, drainage, DG install seem to be good. Yard grading i'd recommend looking else where or save money and hire a few day laborers to help. read more

This past year we got a ton of rain and I didn't really pay much attention to how large a mesquite tree had grown between my neighbor and my rental home in San Marcos. When I called Fernando for an estimate, he asked me to send him the address to go see the size of the tree and he would get back to me. Well, I thought like all other tree companies, I would have to call back to remind him of my call and ask for an estimate. But no, to my surprise Fernando called me back that evening. I was thinking of just trimming this gigantic tree way down. But Fernando recommended that we remove the tree. It was already encroaching both homes and the foundations could be in harm in a few years. He said why pay twice. And we both knew the tree would need to be removed. His estimate was better than most tree trimming estimates received. He did tell me he would need to schedule the job for one of his commercial trucks for the hauling. I thought it would take a couple of weeks. Nope, two days. Fernando's team arrived early, they worked long and hard hours to bring down the tree. I wish I had a before picture to show the magnitude of this tree. But they removed it, ground the stump and left the space ready for future plantings. I have a couple of pictures of the stumps and some waste. And of course the after picture. Thank you Fernando for making this experience great and for your team of hard working guys. Nice team work! Fernando and Denny are not honest men. Their work is sloppy and they are unorganized. I'm writing this because Denny lied about finishing a job and then Fernando and Denny lied about refunding us. It has been miserable and I hope to save others from this kind of experience. Denny lied to our faces about finishing a job we paid him to do. We paid $3,800 for him and his crew to cut down 10-large cypress trees, grind up the stumps and roots, and haul away all the debris. Denny hid the stumps and roots under sawdust and guaranteed he had ground them up and removed them. Two months later, when we were trying to put a drain in the area, we realized the work we paid Denny to do had not been done at all. Due to our contractor's schedule, he needed to remove the stumps and roots immediately. We contacted Clean Cut Tree Service with photos of the still-existing stumps and roots, along with their invoice and asked for money back from this unfinished job. When I got Fernando (the owner) and Denny on the phone, through an uncomfortable conversation, we finally agreed that they would refund us $650 so we could pay the contractor who actually did the work. What followed was two weeks of tracking them down, more uncomfortable conversations and dodging texts, and more false promises of payments. Denny hung up on me the last time we talked. And now I'm here, writing this so you know to avoid these guys and this company. These guys are not trustworthy. I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. Clean cut trees started a job which they never completed. We have rescheduled twice to finish and they have failed to show up each time. Poor communication and inability to honor an appointment are areas in which they need to focus. read more

I had a large tree in my backyard that needed to come down. Read the Yelp reviews on Clean Cut Tree Service and decided to contact Fernando. He contacted me right away, came out the next day and agreed the tree needed to come out because it was too close to the house and was cracking concrete. He provided me a quote and also recommended trimming a couple other trees. On the scheduled day, his team arrived on time and did a great job. This was a large tree and they left the backyard and front yard (where they did the chipping) perfectly clean. The also did a great job grinding the stump and leaving some mulch in the spot where the tree was. The trees they trimmed look great also. Sad to see the big tree go but if you need to have it done, call these guys!!!! read more

Fernando and his crew did a great job removing several trees, stumps, and vegetation around my property. The quote was fair and the work started and ended when we agreed upon. Unfortunately, a canopy was damaged when it was moved by Fernandos guys. When discussed initially with Fernando, all was well. He asked for a replacement value and offered to send a check right away. No check has been received however, after a couple of weeks and several followups. I truly hope that this is just a severe case of life getting in the way so that I can edit this review to reflect my satisfaction with the work that was done! Edit! Almost immediately after this review was posted I was contacted by clean cut tree removal to resolve the matter. They indicated that they were not aware of the situation and that Fernando was still out of town. The guy didn't show up the first time . It was raining heavily that day.. . but ,well ..I hope he could at least send me a message . ..The price is very competitive. So I set another time with them . This time he arrived a bit late. But the boss answered my messages quickly and explained. The guy worked hard for about 2 hours . The root was grounded and removed . There was some issue found the next day but the boss responded to my complaint quickly and sent another guy to fix it the following business day . The boss is very responsible. Fernando at Clean Cut Tree Service is honest, reliable and does what he says he will do. I needed a large queen palm cut down and removed. He sent a crew of three and had the tree down, chipped and the work area cleaned up in 60 minutes. I had this huge brush pile from clearing our hill. Seriously about 5 feet tall, 8ft wide & 15-20 feet long. I called everywhere & I had quotes all over the place. The work included removing two overgrown trees between my house and the neighbors in tight quarters as well as trimming my palms. His team came out to job site exactly when scheduled, they where actually a bit early which I appreciated. They did the whole job exactly as promised. This was a big deal for me because it involved grinding out and removing tree stumps and rootballs of 5 trees that had been cut down.
