    Chicken Tikka Masala

Great taste! Excellent customer service! Too good that I forgot to take the before picture for the tikka masala. The sitting area is nice. The music isn't too loud. Nothing but good vibes! First time here. Definitely will come back if I'm in the area craving flavourful Indian food. Other food that was ordered: - chicken coconut curry (spicy) - garlic naan - onion naan - white rice

Chicken Vindaloo, Rice Pilav, and Garlic Nan

The restaurant was quiet, perfect for dinner and conversation. The food was delicious!! I had the chicken vindaloo nice and spicy and my date had the Kashmiri chicken. Both were excellent. The garlic naan was perfectly prepared and the server was gracious, helpful, and good natured.

My bestfriend and I ordered butter chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, pickles, chicken Tandoori Chicken, Garlic Nan and wow everything was impeccable. The ambiance is remarkable, the owners are so sweet & they even ended up giving us rice pudding on the house. 10/10 service, food, & experience!! we will definitely be coming back soon & would definitely recommend!!!!

I enjoyed Clay Oven's service and overall ambiance! The food was good, not incredible, but I'd go back. My friend and I got the Chicken Tikka Masala and it was tasty. We both got mild spice and it wasn't spicy at all. The rice was good too. We also got the naan basket with plain naan, garlic naan, and onion kulcha. The plain naan was my favorite, the onion kulcha was tasty too, and garlic naan is always good! Almost forgot - we also got the vegetable samosa which was a litttttle spicy for me but tasty!

5/12/23 We've gone to Clay Oven a few times, but the first time we got food from Clay Oven was via takeout. I remember that I got a chicken vindaloo that was supposed to be spicy but to me, it was barely spicy at all. One night, we decided to go in to the restaurant to eat and Zach personally loves Indian food. When we got there, it was fairly late so parking wasn't an issue (we got a parking spot right in front). There was currently only one table occupied besides us. Here's what we got for dinner: - Garlic naan (to share) - Saag paneer (his) - Vegetable samosa (to share) - Rice pilav (to share) - Chicken coconut curry (to share) - Papusa (given by the restaurant) The staff were all friendly and polite. One employee even got Zach a cold, delicious mango lassi when he saw that Zach was sweating profusely from the extra spice he asked for in his saag paneer. The food in the restaurant tasted way better than what I had when I tried their take out before. The spice level in the chicken was perfect and the chicken itself was tender, and the curry was creamy. I tried a little of the saag paneer but since it was extra spicy I didn't eat anymore than that initial bite. The samosa was good, nice crunch on the outside with soft potato filling. The garlic naan was good too. The rice pilav was basic and not outstanding. Overall, Clay Oven is a decent spot for Indian food. I wouldn't say it's the best, but it definitely satisfies the craving.

    Extra-extra-extra-extra spicy tikka masala.

But we can only order 1 cluster per order with another kind of seafood. Only 2 orders per person. We ordered snow crabs every round. Snow crabs , shrimp, clams, and mussels were good. The clams and mussels were fine but they were tiny. My friends who can eat spice ordered medium and that wasn't spicy enough for them so they ordered spicy or extra spicy. I kept ordering mild for my spicy level since my stomach cannot take spice much. We also tried crab chowder (watered down, light tasting), Cajun fries (decent), fried calamari (fried a bit too long so it's dark), and the curry snow crab rice (good). The sauce is thicker than claw shack and crawdaddy. Very garlicky and flavorful. Service- There were only like 3 people working the floor. We ordered our first round and it came out fast. Our second and third rounds came out slower. When we ordered our 3rd round, the waitress told us it's our last one. But they took their sweet time to bring out our foods. They were probably hoping to let the food settle so we would get fuller faster. It's not fresh crawfish even though the waitress told me it was when I asked her when we were getting seated. We had to keep asking for new gloves every round. The clear gloves are cheap and sauce kept going in them. I would suggest you to bring some better gloves. They also give you bibs. They did mess up our orders twice out of the 3. Our first order came out fine maybe because everyone got something different with the snow crab clusters. But for 2nd and 3rd orders, we ordered a lot of the same order but with different spice. They didn't tell us what level of spice each order was except the combo number when they brought them out so it was hard to figure out until you tasted the spice level of the sauce. We had to trade each other the seafood boils since it was the wrong spice level. Didn't realize they closed at 9pm. We were on of the last ones towards the end. But another party was still there as we left at 9:15.

The clams, snow crabs and shrimp were delicious and fresh, and the carbs were above average in quality despite not being the star of the menu. My only complaint was that per round, they don't specify how much is in it, and that it seems to be 1lb per round. You can select up to two of the options per round so keep that in mind. 5/5 for cost and experience, would return!

The octopus starter and the lamb chops stood out to me. The only negative I felt were the prices. We landed up spending about $250 for three. We saw to people there and they greeted us when we came in. Seemed like it was a mom and daughter. They were very nice. They sat us down and gave us the menu and how the ayce works. I am not sure how to rate the food. The selection of seafood that you can pick was nice. Clams, mussels, shrimp and crawfish were the seafood picks you can do. Potatoes, sausage, corn were the free add on that you can do. I do not eat crawfish, which was also a seafood pick, so I can't review that. Everything was good. The shrimp was hit and miss, depending on the piece. They were peel and eat, but some shrimps were mushy meaning those shrimps were old. It was tolerable. Nothing that I haven't had before. I'll let it go for the price point they offer. The clam and mussels were good. As expected. The sausage, corn and potatoes were good as well. The place was pretty legit. The fried shrimp and fried chicken wings were amazing! Freshly fried, they were juicy and steaming on the inside, and crispy on the outside. Although the place was dead (it was a Wednesday after all), we did see a lot of people come in and pick up food to-go. Not sure if they were customers or drivers picking up for Doordash/Uber Eats. All in all, I would definitely come back to this place.

There are some lovely waitresses with a positive attitude and amazing bartenders. The inside of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. To the owners: please please do not ever close this restaurant. It's the only seafood place in the area with as fresh options as you. This is one of the best seafood places to come to Redwood City in a very long time!!! I hope you stick around.

I think there were communication issues. there was some mix up with the tables and throughout the night after that our orders kept getting mixed up with not just one but two other tables. So we would see our food from afar being held in front of a group of servers where they would have a conversation over our plates of food for a few minutes then go to other tables, and try to give it to other tables before it finally got to us. The staff explained there was a mixup and due to that all the orders continued getting mixed up during our meal, but there was no acknowledgment otherwise or an attempt to make things right. I think because the group tip is already mandatory, there was no incentive on their end, perhaps. The bus staff are pretty available and responsive but limited in what they were allowed to assist with and the server was hard to flag down. Anyway onto the food. The clams linguine was flavorful. The crab Alfredo pasta had a lot of crab which was a pleasant surprise but a little lacking in flavor and a little on the sweet side with cream and crab notes. Cioppino was better than expected. Oysters were good and an okay price. Key lime pie was decent. I think 3.5-4 stars for the food (probably 4 at the happy hour rates!), 2 for service. Ambiance is a bit weird. Like somewhat upscale with some decor and high ceilings but not in others. Worthwhile to return for happy hour and may update review then!
