Lamb Saag, chicken biryani

The food is amazing and the staff is really sweet and fun to talk to. The spice levels are typically accurate. The desserts are all really good. Gulab jamun and mango lassi are my favorites.

Buffet

Clay Oven is the ABSOLUTE BEST Indian food in the state! We go frequently for the lunch buffet (now available Thursday through Sunday). Their regular items (Chicken Tikka Masala, Chana Masala, and Goat Curry) are always amazing. The owner, and chef, frequently rotates in new items that are fragrant and delicious (Today was Eggplant Bhartha and Aloo Mehti). This family run restaurant is a cozy, warm, must for anyone who enjoys Indian cuisine. In true Indian fashion there are many Vegetarian (and even Vegan options). 10/10. Fully recommend!

Samosa is a must try, over the years their recipe has really improved. And the food is amazing we keep coming back.

We've been getting takeout from Clay Oven for many, many years. The food is always great! We usually order two to three portions of butter chicken, veggie korma, naan bread (garlic and regular), and samosas depending on how many we are feeding. I would highly recommend Clay Oven. Best Indian food in central Indiana hands down and probably the best outside of NYC or possibly Chicago.

Always a big win, my goto for a grip. Can't go wrong here. 100 degrees out, why not get some spicy food and cold brews.

So we wanted to eat at Indian restaurant and it was a 4th if July weekend I checked time to close which was 930 but unfortunately we reached at 855 PM and got to know we could only carry out and cant dine in so we took 2 dishes and they were ok. The food preparation is good. The seating is decent with ok ambience. They play Indian music in background and have ample of parking right in front of the place. This place is in the same premises of Walmart.

I take my foodie group here a few times a year. I have nothing but good experiences here. The service is generally spot on and you get an ample serving for a reasonable price. My personal favorite is the Chicken Curry... now you probably think spicy hot... not really unless you order it hot... I tend to go with the medium and it has very little heat at that level. It has a lot of flavor though. The chicken pieces are always nice and tender and the sauce is nice and creamy with the curry flavor. I tend to spoon it over the rice that comes with it, for a nice meal. I also had the shrimp tandoori appetizer, which was a bit plain to look at, but the grilled shrimp are delicately flavored, very nice. If that is not intense enough for you, it is served with 3 different sauces, so you can turn up the heat and intensity a bit if you like. The garlic naan is my favorite here. It smells soo good and is obviously fresh made... has that tiny little crunch to it in spots and otherwise the softness of the bread you would expect. Altogether, I would highly recommend this place if you're ever in the area.

Amazing service and food as always

Amazing food and service as always! I've tried both the chicken Tikka and chicken curry and have always been blown away.

It was pretty easy to access. When we arrived, someone greeted us, and we asked for a table for three. They seated us in a booth, although they also have regular dining tables available. One thing I noticed was that they had bottled water already set out on the table, which I initially thought was a nice, but my friend pointed out that you never know how long the bottles have been sitting out or whether they've been exposed to heat, especially with the water being in plastic bottles. We let our server know that we were first time visitors, and he was helpful with recommendations. Their menu has plenty of options. I ordered the butter chicken at medium spice with garlic naan. One friend ordered the paneer tikka with garlic naan since she's vegetarian, and our other friend ordered the biryani. I tried everything, and my fav was the butter chicken, it wasn't as spicy as I usually like it but the flavor was there. The tikka paneer tasted like the butter chicken so it was disappointing as we were looking for a different flavor. The biryani was really tasty. It had a lot of flavor, and I really liked the spice kick it had but it's so much rice that it's definitely a shareable meal. I really enjoyed the garlic naan, and it paired well with the meals. As for the atmosphere, they have TVs mounted on the walls and music playing over the speakers. Unfortunately, the volume was pretty loud, making it difficult to hold a conversation at the table. If you're looking for a quieter dining experience where you can catch up with friends, keep that in mind.

This is a restaurant and banquet hall that is available to rent. The restaurant has a decent sized dining area to the left as you enter. They have booths and a television paying Indian music videos. You will find a bar area and the banquet hall to the right as you enter the restaurant. They serve some Indian favorites, and I had to look up what they were before I ordered. I was all in on the Indian food and ordered a full ethnic meal. I stared with potato pakora with a sweet lassi to wash it down. I got a Seekh Kebab for my main course and a rice kheer, to-go, for dessert. It took about 10 minutes for me to get my food and it was fresh and hot. It came with three sauces, with the tomato one being my favorite. The Kebab came out sizzling like a fajita. I will admit that Indian food is an acquired taste and if you are not familiar with Indian food, such as I, then you are going in blind. My food was good. It was spicy, but not too spicy. I went with the medium heat, hot would have proably been too much for me. The potato pakora was decent. It was slightly bland, but the sauces really made it better. The lassi was very smooth and had a milk feel and a rice taste. I ate my dessert later and it was good. It was rice in a milky substance. The guy that was my server was very friendly, patient, helpful and attentive. I enjoyed my lunch here. This is a decent spot to catch a bite of authentic Indian food

The lighting was perfect for a family dining out experience (not super dark or halogen lights in your face). The only one issue was the service, which was sub par. Our server didn't check up on us once in the hour we were sat. Even after our meals were finished, we waited a good 15 minutes before we got restless and went up to the reception area to ask for someone to help us with the payment/boxing up leftovers. Don't get me wrong, the food came out in a timely manner and it was hot/fresh. It was just the tardy server that we all noticed. I'm giving it a 5 star rating because of all the Indian places I've tried in Indianapolis and Bloomington, the quality of the food was BEYOND amazing. I tried this spot after having tried most Indian spots in the greater Indy area and also trying an all-vegetarian Indian restaurant in greenwood (which I had previously considered to be the best) and while that's a cozy spot with great food/great service, this restaurant is most definitely the best in Indy (for veg AND non-veg options). 10/10 recommend for anyone craving Indian food in the Indy area.

The green sauce was a mint coriander chutney with some spice, the brown sauce was a tamarind chutney that was sweet and tangy, and the red was marinated onions. Everything was SO good! They offer water tap or bottles, and the soda comes in cans, so there are no free refills. For my entree, I ordered the Butter Chicken, medium spice. My husband ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, mild. It wasn't listed on the menu, but they were able to make it for him. He really enjoyed his meal. I liked my Butter Chicken as well. The flavor was delicious, I just wish the chicken pieces were a little smaller. The food had great flavor, and I'd definitely come back to try more dishes! The ambiance here was Indian styled, calming and family friendly. Service was good. Pricing was fair for quality and quantity.
