This is a great place to enjoy a hearty meal while having a restful mid-day break. The decorations, the music, and the wonderful aroma greet you when you walk thru the entrance. A smiling waiter directs you to a table covered in a linen cloth. He brings you a metal pitcher of ice water, while you fill your plate with colorful and aromatic buffet entrees. I wasn't sure of the names or ingredients in every entree, but they were all tasty and satisfying. Although most were spicy, it did not linger past finishing the meal. I've been both coming here and calling for to go orders for several years and it's my favorite Indian restaurant on the Southside. Placing to go order is easy, it's packaged well and is still hot and delicious once it's home. Staff are also friendly and prompt. It's at the edge of the strip mall right near 465 and 31, southern plaza area and has just undergone some construction, so not sure if the building has good signage yet but it's worth the trip! read more

This isn't the first time I've eaten here it's just the first time I'm reviewing them. Tonight I ordered the Seekh Kabab and some Naan. I ordered via Door Dash and they arrived about 10 minutes ahead of schedule. The kebabs are INCREDIBLE! Perfectly spiced with a good amount of meat. The Naan was perfectly cooked and still warm in the foil after several miles of driving. DEF give this place a try if this type of food is your JAM! SO GOOD! read more

Came in here to celebrate my daughter's boyfriend's birthday. This is the place he chose and we are so glad he did because it was delicious and the service was amazing. The place is having some renovations but don't let that scare you because they are still open. Upon entering, we were quickly welcomed and seated. They are very kind and very attentive. A couple of us ordered the mango lassi and a couple had the strawberry lassi. Both were really good but I prefer the mango. We ordered a few appetizers and several entrees. I will add pictures of those. My dish (chilly shrimp) is normally chilly chicken but they let me modify it. It was amazing as was all the other dishes. We will definitely be back. read more

When we travel, we try out Indian restaurants and are always disappointed, spoiled as we are by our hometown favorite. That ended today. Tandoori Flame is good enough to come back to. The exterior is very unassuming and It's not the same as the hometown place we love, but it has a lot in common: a clean and lovely space, a proprietor who is very attentive and gives special attention to the exact way you like your dishes, and food that is soul-satisfyingly good. Always a delightful spot even in the midst of their construction. The staff are friendly and kind, and if you make it during a buffet time you can try various options to pick your favorites. I love their palek paneer and their allo gobi especially, but can always find other options to try on the buffet. They have signs and will answer any questions about food items. I got the lamb kashmiri, extra hot, annnnd...it was actually hot! The sauce was flavor and well-spiced and the lamb was perfectly tender. I have been wanting to try this place for awhile so I stopped in for the lunch buffet today at noon, it was very disappointing, they had about 10 things to choose from total, and what they did have out needed refilled, the rice pudding tasted like dirt, the Gulab Jamun was cold and hard. And everything was very hot and fresh! They offer a like 5 or 6 different spice levels so you can get it as hot or as mild as you want. This was definitely a solid choice for Indian food. My wife and I have been looking for an Indian restaurant we both enjoy and found it here last night. Not overly busy on a Friday night, but we did get there around 8pm. Waitress sat us quickly, and was great throughout the entire night. I ordered the chicken biryani, my wife ordered butter chicken, and we both ordered Naan (she got garlic, and I got Paneer Kulcha- naan stuffed with onion and spices)- we both split the two entrees. Chicken biryani- very good. If you aren't a fan of green bell peppers, avoid this, as the flavor is definitely present in the dish. Could have had a bit better presentation, but still solid. Butter chicken- run of the mill butter chicken. Nothing to write home about, but no complaints. We both consider it to be somewhat of comfort food as we know it's not entirely representative of Indian food but still tastes great and brings us pleasure. Garlic naan- I didn't have any, but my wife said it was great. Paneer kulcha- first time ever having it. It was great- onion taste was present but not overpowering. We decided to meet friends here for a weekday lunch since it was a convenient southside location and had good reviews on Yelp. It's located in the Southern Plaza parking lot in the old Steak and Ale building(nice blast from the past). The service was friendly and helpful and the food plentiful. The price for the buffet was great for all the items available and everything I tried tasted fine( I didn't do the goat). I also got some friendly helpful advice from one of their regular diners who told me what sauce to use if I got an item that was a little too spicy and it was yummy and it worked. That said the food on the lunch buffet is definitely not as good. Everything tasted bland and rather generic. I came for the lunch buffet which is totally worth it for $17. They had almost all of my favorite dishes and desserts kheer and gulab jamun, which was so serendipitous! I had the samosas and pakoras with the delicious tamarind and mint chutney sauces. A little under par compared to what I've come to expect from Indian food in the area. Note this only applies to the lunch buffet, so dinner might be better. Place seemed understaffed for a weekend, and they had trouble keeping the buffet trays topped up. What there was also was often either too watery or greasy for my tastes. Buffet stations also didn't seem as warm as I'd expect, having worked food service, but the lunch session is shorter than the FDA/FSIS's 4 hour mark, so not a safety issue. Lack of any kind of lassis during lunch feels like a missed opportunity. Staff are however friendly and didn't quibble over me needing my drink replaced. Facility is kept neat and clean. The price is around $20 for AYCE, which I consider reasonable. read more

I have tried several of my tried and true dishes such as the Garlic naan, samosa, and Gobi Manchurian as well as discovered some new favorites such as Mushroom Masala. There are several Vegetarian options to choose from. The location might be difficult to find for those not familiar with the area. It is located behind the AMC theater in Southern Plaza. There was a mix up with my friends order and she ordered something that she thought would be different than what she got. My friend and I wanted Indian food today, so of course, we pulled up the Yelp app. We selected Tandoor Flame in Southern Plaza on East Street. Since my friend just had surgery, we had to go with carryout. Tandoori Flame is in the back of the strip center in the old Steak and Ale building facing East Street. You'll find many different size tables, full bar, bar seating and a clean restaurant. I was warmly greeted as I entered and went directly to the bar area for pickup. Our order was ready on time and payment was quick. The order was complete and packed well in containers that didn't leak. Easy Pease Carryout. We ordered: * Chilly Pakora's which are HOT with enough to share. The chilies are dipped in flour batter and deep fried. If you enjoy hot and spicy food, don't pass these up. * Aloo Tikki has a spicy potato stuffing dipped in chickpea flour and deep fried. These are very good and I always order. Be sure to try the sauce that comes with. * The Garlic Naan is excellent with fresh garlic, cilantro and seasonings. I could eat this delicious bread at every meal. * My friend ordered her very favorite Buttered Chicken served with rice. The chicken is so tender with a light curry sauce served over rice. She loved the sauce with all the flavors. I ordered Chicken Tikka Marsala which is a spicy tomato-based dish (I ordered medium heat) with chunks of tender chicken and a flavorful, very spicy sauce. The sauce is delicious with all the many spices used and doesn't need chicken, IMHO. The vegetarian version would be great, too. Lastly, we ordered the Gulab Jamun which translates into "rose water" and "black plum". These are one of the most popular desserts in Indian food. I can believe since their basically fried, soft dough balls (think doughnut) soaked in sugar syrup. Scrumptious! I look forward to returning for dine-in soon. read more

FYI, they currently offer delivery, takeout, and dine-in options. You get a complimentary crisp/cracker with mint and tamarind sauces as accompaniments. Simple but a great start to the meal! The non-veggie platter is an assortment of the appetizers. We got the veggie samosa, beef samosa, chicken pakora, aloo tikki, and veggie cutlet. This is good if you want a sampler but personally nothing stood out for us. The goat curry and lamb palak were both great! We ordered spicy for both but didn't find them to have too much heat. Very flavorful and generous portion sizes - the goat was really good, just wish the pieces weren't so bony. These went really well with the freshly-made garlic naan. The tandoori chicken came out sizzling hot on a skillet. Also ordered spicy but felt that it was totally manageable and actually could've been spicier. The meat is a combo of drums and thigh meat, with the latter being more tender and flavorful. This one is great as well! Overall, this is a nice spot for authentic Indian cuisine. Ambiance is good. traditional Indian music in the background. I tend to eat vegetarian at Indian restaurants because they are good at it. Maybe some chicken. Same with this place. If you don't know much about this kind of food, do the lunch buffet where you can try everything. If you're not used to spicy foods, remember you can tolerate a lot more heat if you have some raita or lassi at the ready. (contain yogurt). Mango lassi is my favorite. Raita is typically part of the buffet. The parking lot is old but not hazardous. Let's help them make money so they can make it pretty someday. read more

For dinner on Saturday, I got to experience some real Indian food ! It was such a fun and exciting experience ! I had the chicken shahi korma and a strawberry lassi ! The curry was absolutely delicious. The sauce was enough to make me come back for more ! It was a cheese based sauce with cashews. I had the mild version because I was afraid of my mouth burning. It was even more delicious when you dip garlic naan in it ! The strawberry lassi was a delicious yogurt based drink. And I'll tell you, I could have drank 100 more !
