The Cookery is a great date night / group activity spot if you're looking for something fun,…read moreinteractive, and just different enough to make you feel like you have plans. I came for the sushi-making class, and overall, it was a really good time. The setup was smooth, the atmosphere was lively, and the whole experience felt more like a social night out with a little culinary cosplay which honestly, has its place. They also offered wine and sake pairings, and you can BYOB, which definitely helps keep the vibe festive. That said... if you're hoping to leave with the confidence to open your own omakase counter in a strip mall, this is not that. A lot of the components were pre-made or prepped ahead of time, and there wasn't a ton of actual teaching around technique, ingredients, or the food itself. So while you do "make sushi," it's less MasterClass and more cute, hands-on dinner activity. But honestly? That's not necessarily a bad thing. Not every class needs to end with a knife skills certification and a spiritual relationship with sushi rice. Bottom line: Come here if you want a fun, low-pressure experience for a date night, girls' night, or team outing. Just set expectations correctly: this is more about the experience than becoming the next IronChef.

Everything is split up amongst the groups so don't be scared thinking you'll be cooking the whole time. We selected the Cocktail Party event which consisted of appetizers and drinks. I wish I would've taken more photos but that would've required constant washing of the hands! Menu consisted of Sweet and spicy caramelized nuts( Amazing) Warm Crab dip Crostini( Spectacular, but I think we preferred it cold) Crispy Prosciutto Green Goddess Deviled eggs( probably our favorite appetizer..and she doesn't even like deviled eggs) Ahi Poke/Avocado Wontons( we might actually try the crab mix in the wontons) Chili Lime shrimp and Mango salsa lettuce boats( I thought it was excellent but she felt it was too spicy) Candied Orange infused Dark chocolate bark( awesome and the sea salt on top made it the perfect dessert). The drinks had a little something for everyone. I'm a whiskey on the rock kinda guy so the drinks were a little on the sweet side for me, but to each their own. Martinis, Magaritas, Gin Fizz, Old fashioned and a Caipirinha(yeah I never heard of it either but it was good!) I'm aware the price may be a little more daunting than your normal date nights but the experience and the quality ingredients made it well worth it!

If you are looking for a private chef for dinner or a party in the Dallas area, you should consider…read moreLuke Keller of LK culinary. I found Luke on another site with ratings on personal chefs. He had many high ratings so I reached out by email and he quickly responded. We talked over the phone about the party that I was planning, general numbers on size of party (20), what we wanted (courses with wine pairings from my wine library) and when. Luke responded with a sample menu that was pretty much exactly what we did. He was spot on with the suggestions. (Descriptions In attached pictures). Luke and his assistant arrived 3 hours early for prep and were great conversation as we prepared for the party. We changed the order of courses to better fit the wine progression and he was helpful and adaptable. They brought almost everything they needed. Luke used our oven, range, blender and countertop, but otherwise had everything they needed. They also brought plates. We had the wine glasses and disposable silverware. They served the dishes and poured the wine coursing for guests and we did it in casual fashion with people standing and mingling. Every course hit the mark and at least 3 people asked for his information to use him. I will add more details on the individual dishes later, but if you read the descriptions in the pictures know they were each executed very well. After dinner they cleaned all dishes and glasses as well as the kitchen. It was very refreshing late the next morning when we rolled out of the rack to survey the damage. AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!!

We picked their Brazilian menu and it was absolutely incredible!! A few people weren't crazy about tres leches, so we had requested another dessert option- the lemon tart with blueberry mint syrup...and it was AMAZING. Now, on to the service. We had one guest with a couple allergies- all I did was point her out and nothing had to be sent back. They handled it with zero issues. Also, we had a guest who is 9 months pregnant, and she had brought some "Nosecco" so she could enjoy some bubbly without the booze....and Manny was ALWAYS there to refill her glass. She didn't have to lift a finger, and I really noticed and appreciated that. Attention to details is big to me and these guys really checked the box! This was the first time any of us have hired a private chef to cook for us and we were excited to see if we even liked it- and after they left, we were already discussing what to do next year!

They do a whole lot more than just teach some recipes. They created a really fun experience that my guests could feel totally part of. They were organized and well prepared. The recipes were delicious. Everything was timed to be ready in stages. Even my guests who typically don't like to cook got into the action. It was a totally fun experience. We are looking for another time to plan another event.

Everything was explained really well, and the instructors made the experience fun and easy to follow, even for someone who isn't a professional cook. We made our own dressing for the arugula salad, and when I tell you it was amazing, I thought about that salad for days afterward. It was honestly one of my favorite parts of the class. I had never had gnocchi before, and it was really, really good. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. We also learned some great tips for preparing steak that I wasn't aware of, and I've already started using them at home. Overall, it was a great experience. The class was informative, hands-on, and enjoyable from start to finish. I would definitely recommend it to others, and I plan on coming back to try the knife skills class and probably a few other classes as well.

Chef Kate led us on a wonderful 2 hour culinary adventure making roasted chicken, kale salad, a Lemon tart, marinated artichokes, and a delicious aioli. The lemon tart is made first due to the amount of work and steps involved. It is a nice treat to go with the meal. The artichokes are delicious and you add some of the aioli you make and it is so tasty. Probably my favorite part. You do the cooking yourself but Chef Kate guided us from beginning to end. I recently moved to Plano and have been researching fun activities to participate in. Running in 90+ degree temps with humidity will tire a girl out! Something needs to be indoors. Enter, an incredible pastry class. I'm no rookie when it comes to culinary classes. I love them! I love cooking and baking and always learn something new from a class. It's something I throughly enjoy. This experience was 5 STARS! Everyone was so warm, friendly, inclusive and kind. We really had the absolute best time. I've been trying to feel a sense of community after relocating and the other students, as one told me are "my people". My week days have been spent in an altogether different environment that regardless of if it's cultural has brought me down in a real way. I was looking for an afternoon of joie. The class was so inviting, hands on and fun! We made a bunch of items, shared snacks and our creations together. On break another student in class gave me a tour of Central Market since I'd never been to one. Grabbing coffee, exchanging business cards with others, bookmarking a ton of new spots to try and learning about other fun activities was truly worth every dollar spent to join this 4hr class. It felt exactly like what I had imagined moving to Texas with Texans would feel like. It attracted the finest residents. I can't wait to return. They have an all star line up of classes and August is hatch chili month. I will surely be signing up for at least one class a month. The florals are also totally worth mentioning, the store and class is adorned in the most incredible arrangements. It really was such a lovely class. Now if I can find someone to teach me Mahjong! The store is also gorgeous! I'm definitely at the age where I couldn't care less about local bars, show me a stunning grocery store! Coming from Los Angeles, dare I say it... Central Market might be better than Erewhon.
