I called AAA to have 2 of my vehicles towed yesterday. The first guy JOHN was the rude from the time he called to say he was there. I don't know how long he's been a tow truck driver but he didn't know what he was doing & didn't like someone else telling him a better easier way!! He started yelling that he was going to leave and he was there to help us. No sir you were being paid to do your job. But the guy that came to pick up my second car, Ian was FANTASTIC!! He got my car loaded by himself in about 5 mins! He was so nice & helpful. So, if you get John as your tow truck driver be ready for a jerk! I hope you get Ian!! read more

I was in a state of panic followed by absolute despair today. I lost my sh!t. But my wife remained calm and sweet and came up with legitimate ideas and solutions while I totally freaked out on a number of customer service reps on the phone. Progressive insurance failed us in the worst way and the worst time. But Gary's Classic Towing, out of Astoria, are the best and the brightest of the North coast. They got us on the road and then guided us through side roads, so we could navigate to the tire shop... cuz we only had 5 wheels... on a vehicle that usually features 6 wheels. A shiny new flatbed truck, painted with an American flag motif...perhaps there was an eagle too...with its lights flashing... escorted us all the way there at 15 MPH. I rolled my suv .they where the ones the state patrol called . While I was wisked away in an ambulance the tow driver not only scoopped up my SUV but picked up as much as he could see of my belongings he even helped look for my puppy . When I got to the tow company they had keep my belongings safe and dry . They went above and beyond anything I would have ever expected . They even let me get my things out and wrote a great deal of the bill off . I can't say how much but it was a blessing considering the situation .they where amazed to see me and my puppy up and moving about as well as seeing my dog was not hurt. Had an amazing experience with Classic Towing when my 1986 VW Vanagon broke down in Seaside Oregon. It's a special sort of vehicle and needs a little extra love and care. John was amazing. He got my van onto the flatbed no problem, he listened to me as I explained how to properly lock all the doors, he towed all the way to Portland in record time, and even texted me a picture of the van all tucked in and safe at my mechanic's place. The owner of this business called and wanted to book a room here at the Atomic Motel and pay for it. He told me that "they felt bad" because the gentleman had just been released from the hospital and his van had become impounded and was in their lot. They were unable to start it and made arrangements for him. The following day they were supposed to get him and get his van running. Instead of this, the the owner stated when telephoned "that this man does not have a working vehicle and that they can't do anything because he's not on their property anymore. " So in other words, they abandoned him to us instead of doing what they said. This business owner is beyond contempt, and there will more letters written to the Chamber of Commerce, Daily Astorian and the Better Business Bureau. read more

Well... after a very long shift and with thoughts of getting home to my kids, my vehicle decided to lose all its power. It's 10:15 PM, on 101 next to Wal-Mart...it was a parking lot of a turnlane. I was able to limp it into a parking lot and called for help. Justin came to the rescue!! He was fast, efficient, and after some trouble shooting to figure out the issues, he ended up towing my vehicle to a nearby shop. The driver took over an hour getting to where the car/accident was and when he got there he was VERY rude and argued with my husband and our insurance company. Demanded payment up front, but couldn't give us a quote on what the cost was; even though it was covered by our insurance. This tow company towed my close friend's car when he was killed in an auto accident. I went there to try and collect his things. I told them I was there on behalf of the family and that we had been friends since grade school. At that time I was handed a bill, and told I couldn't even see the car until it was paid. I was deeply hurt and appalled by this callousness but in light of my recent loss and the chaos that follows the death of a loved on, I let it go. Fast forward to yesterday, when I found out that same woman who handed me a bill told my dead friend's mother I tried to impersonate her. Which is patently untrue and slanderous. Not only was it completely unethical but it was bordering on malicious, because now there is hurt and anger that can't be soothed. I cannot even begin to tell you how angry I am about this. Got a flat tire about 15 miles out of Astoria, Oregon and called AAA, they sent out Classic Towing. The driver was extremely helpful and courteous and very knowlegable. Our car was loaded down with lots of stuff and he couldnt get the jack under the car so he improvised. Had me drive up onto a 4x4 and then he got the jack under the car and raised it enough to get it off the ground. Since the tire was shredded and we had no spare available, he drove me to Astoria Les Schwab and we got a used tire mounted and went back to our car and put it on. Amazingly smart and helpful fella, wish I had gotten his name. Have told many friends about this and referred them to Classic Towing. This is truly a quality business with quality drivers. We blew a tire on our travel trailer and called AAA thinking we had RV coverage, which we did not (I guess AAA Plus does not cover RVs). AAA transferred us to Classic Towing. They called me back, twice and made excuses - may not have the right tool, didn't want to leave his tools, didn't know if he could fix the problem, etc. Thanked him and cancelled them. If by some unknown reason you do use them make sure you do not use the employee "TRENT" all he will do is make excuzes not to come and has no idea what, if any, tools he has in stock to do a simple tire removal on a Class A RV. read more
