The alternator on our sailboat's diesel was not charging batteries. I had left messages with half dozen mechanics and electricians to no avail. Grant at Rod's called us back and said he no longer did mobile calls, but if we could get it off and bring it in he would test it. We brought it in, it tested good and was charging. Grant spent a good 20 minutes explaining that he thought it might be the tension on the belt looking at the wear on pulley wheel. Put it back on tensioned belts, charging at max output. No cost. Customer service at its best. read more

Brought my car in for repairs and I let them know exactly what was needed. They called me back a couple of hours later to tell me they couldn't do these types of repairs so they recommended the other shops around here. When I went to pick up my car they charged me $125 to let me know that indeed I need to have what I asked to be repaired, repaired. These folks will straight up SCAM you. After the fact I've heard similar stories from other folks. I'd give negative stars if I could. read more

Great value, they did not try to sell me things I didn't need. I was recommended to them by the tire store in my neighborhood, two cities away. read more

My car suddenly had several mysterious problems. I had heard good things about Rod's, so brought it in. The office was staffed by a very courteous, helpful lady, and the repair work was completed in a timely manner. I appreciate the skills, and the good communication! read more

I am from out of town and my car had a misfire on my way back home. I brought it to Rod's Auto and Marine. I was able to cripple the car to them, and although they told me they never worked on a Volvo, but I was in a bind, so told them to please repair it. They called me and said the car had a bad fuel injector. I told them to go ahead with the repair. When I went to pick up the car, they told me their diagnosis was incorrect, BUT still charged me $600! I could not take my car back without paying them. My car was in the same broken condition as when I brought it to them, but I was $600 poorer. I am a senior citizen, and I even sent 2 letters to the owner of the shop asking him to please reimburse me, as it is the right thing to do of course. He ignored my letters. Money takes precedence at this place. Maybe if you need an oil change or a battery replacement, stay clear. I finally took the car to another local mechanic and he fixed it with NO PROBLEM for $375! If I could give a "0" review, I would. read more

I cannot say enough about this shop. Their work is impeccable, fast and most certainly fairly priced. This will forever be my go to shop. My truck has gone in a few times and I'm always grateful for their service and communication. Thank you to all of you at Rod's! Special shout out to Grant! Great folks here and a quality group of master mechanics. read more

My appointment was at 2 pm. They did not even order the oil filter until I got there and it took 45 min. For them to have it. They left oil on the inside driver's door handle and on the steering wheel. The shop was a disorganized mess. I will probably never go back again. There was also oil left on the outside of my car door handle. read more

Driver's window wouldn't go up. Rod's Auto and Marine temp repair involved three pieces of cardboard. Cost - $90. When one cardboard piece fell, the window lowered and wouldn't go back up. Rod's repair of repair - packing tape. See picture. A friend soon made the window functional. But from the cardboard, the window "flashing" is permanently damaged and squeals every time I open or close the window. read more

A coworker recommended that I get my car checked out at Rods Auto and Marine. I am so glad I did! They took great care of my car, I had been told by another mechanic that I was definitely going to need a new transmission...I actually just needed a new spark plug which they ordered and installed. I am so relieved to have found a shop I can trust! read more

The best service I've ever encountered. Was traveling when the truck began to misfire. Dropped it off at 4pm and it was repaired and running by 9am the following morning. They were courteous, honest and helped me out in a tough moment. Warrenton is lucky to have them. read more

I had an absolutely awful experience at this mechanic. I had some repairs done at a shop in Seaside and the part ended up being faulty so I parked my car in Warrenton for the weekend and took it to Rod's which was just around the corner. I had called them a week prior and got some guy on the phone who was not very personable. Dropped it off Monday at 8:00am and they hadn't started it until late in the after noon past my appointment time. They ended up breaking the part that had been installed at Doc's and failed to mention that they broke it when I picked it up, stating that they had removed it to quell my ABS issue. Of course removing this part DID NOT help, and I really don't appreciate that they just left it on my dash without disclosing why. They quoted me 1.1k in repairs, saying I needed a whole new wheel hub assembly as well as a new axel and a list of other things. I got in touch with my original mechanic at Doc's and they said none of that was the matter when they looked at it days prior and to bring it back to them. I had Rods end working on it so I could tow it back to Doc's and Rod's charged me the same price to break a part I had just bought and do literally nothing as Doc' had in the first place. Doc's has been incredibly personable over the phone no matter who I speak to and felt terrible that I left on Friday with my issue still present. They have since been in touch every step of the way, and have replaced the part Rod's broke out of their own pocket as well as replaced the wheel hub/bearings for about a third of the price I was quoted by Rod's. I'm absolutely disgusted with the service I received here and cannot stress enough that I wouldn't come back here if I was stranded in the Fred Meyer parking lot adjacent to them as happened this go around. I recommend both Blue Collar and Graf's over Rod's if you're in Astoria/Warrenton and if you can make it to Seaside, Doc's provides amazing service and communication and I would recommend them to anyone. Rod's left a bad taste in my mouth and a hole in my pocket. I'd give them zero stars if I could. Shame on y'all. read more
