I researched artists for a while before I decided on Classic tattoo. My experience here was great. I went in about a month ago and talked to Willie about what I wanted. I wanted something pretty simple (just lettering). I told him all my concerns and he was able to assure me that he could do everything I asked. I had seen his instagram and website, and all his work is very clean. When I got to my appointment, I had to wait a little for Willie to finish up with another client. He was very patient with me when I would want to change the font or size. I also changed the position about 5 times, and he never once seemed annoyed. I've been looking for someone to do anime style tattoos for a long time, you really have to find an artist who watches it and understands how important line work is. Kim is that person! I found her through instagram and was shocked she was located an hour away from me. She is super awesome with communication, knew all about Final fantasy (I got a Moogle and Carbuncle), her way of tattooing is awesome to watch, it's like she is drawing on paper, such amazing strokes, it barely hurt. She is wonderful to talk to, she gets otaku culture! I went back for the rest of half sleeve, she did my Sailor Mars and Sailor Venus, Revolutionary Girl Utena, and some more filler work needs to be done. Classic Tattoo was an amazing experience for me and completely satisfactory. Being new in town I was very hesitant on getting a tattoo after visiting a few places because no one took the time to invest with me and help guide me on the right direction of getting a quality tattoo. Fortunately, a great friend advise me to visit Classic Tattoo and get a one on one consultation with the Artist. Per my visit, I felt very comfortable with the artist Willie Kirby along with the shop. They were very honest on what they can achieve and have a variety of artists that specializes in different forms or art. My tattoo is in a process of being a full sleeve so the first thing that came in my mind was the pain I was going to endure. I was really impressed how they work as a team and not only was Willie attentive but the support between the other artist to create communication during the full session helped me distract feeling the needle or any pain at all. When I visited other shops in Richmond it was either quite or saw clients getting rushed out. This did not happen at Classic Tattoo. I even had the chance to take breaks to order food for lunch, they brought me coffee from local shops, and just made sure I was comfortable at all times. Most Importantly the quality of the tattoo and the design work put into my tattoo was amazing. I not only got what I wanted but it was a custom design that was achieved by the artist through a consultation and few example pictures. I went into this shop thinking that I would only do this full sleeve tattoo but after my experience I will get more future work done with Willie along with the rest of the Classic Tattoo Staff.
