They are a cycle shop with a lot of heart. So kind and helpful. If we buy accessories from them, they'll put it on free of charge. They even stayed open 30 minutes past closing time to help us fix our bike rack and load and secure a bicycle on to it. Went in to get my e-bike wheel trued up after being shot down by other nearby shops. It was pretty far from straight as I do a lot of jumping and didn't do proper spoke maintenance. The owner said it would be a few days but I got a call the next day and it was done! Everyone was super friendly there and treated me very well. I know it wasn't an easy job and they even gave me a more than fair price! Highly recommend this place for bike repair, they seem super knowledgeable and do great work too. Thanks guys! read more

We ordered an adult special-needs tricycle online for our son. When it arrived it said it needed to be put together by a professional mechanic. It was right before Christmas, but Al (the owner) made sure it got built very quickly. His team did an excellent job and the cost was very reasonable. Al is GREAT! I left my bike for new gear shifters and a full tune-up and he said it'd be a week. I let him know that if I could pick it up by Sunday, I could take it to the beach, but if not, I'll be back later. I received a call the next day and it was READY! :-) In addition, he let me know that my bike is worth about $900 because he bought one at Christmas time...keep in mind I paid about $1,000 in the mid 1990s for it. I do not like giving poor reviews but in this case I feel the need to share this business's poor ethics. I searched many bikes and the owner all and I struck a deal on a very expensive used bike he had. I was nervous about spending over a thousand dollars on a used bike but the 3 month warranty package we agreed to was enough to reassure me on the purchase. It was out of the gates the bike was having issues, so I took my bike in and his techs looked at it for a minute, made a quick adjustment and sent me on my way. I road it around that evening and same squeaky, obnoxious brake noises continued. I called and spoke with the owner and was told to use alcohol and clean the brakes. I didn't want to be a bother so I thought I could handle cleaning them with alcohol and that would correct it. So I did, and the problem persisted. I called back and the owner told me in frustration to bring the bike back and he'd give me my money. I was taken back by the response. I ended up taking the bike to another bike shop, they bled the brakes and everything works great. Long story short, if this guy can't honor his own warranty Buyer beware about his other practices. read more

I had not been into classic cycle before even though it's about a half mile from my house. Delighted to see the inventory of parts and bikes. I would never go back to this business again. We took one step into the store and immediately was never approached for five minutes as we watched Al the owner yell demands at his employees. Finally we were asked if we needed help and I asked him to help me pump up my tires with a brand new pump I didn't know how to function. He was so condescending in his approach to helping me. I would never recommend anyone going here. He is wrong the way that he deals with his shop and business. He is a chauvinistic man. He's sassy, rude, impatient, and need to learn costumer service all over again. This shop need to be shut down. This man is a fraud. I would rather drive 30 minutes down the road to sell wood bike store and spend more money than put up another minute with this disrespectful, arrogant man. Not sure what happened with the 1 star review back in 2014, but I ended up here today and had great service! I usually work in NE Portland but am covering for a co-worker and so have been biking out to Oregon City. Today on my ride out, I noticed my rear derailleur shifting poorly and then not at all. I looked down to discover the rear shifter cable was frayed! So, I shifted minimally the rest of the ride by just pulling on the cable, and made it up the hill to work. I showed up at their shop a few minutes before 10, just as they opened. The mechanic (Dan) let me right in and told me he could get right on it. He called me at 11 to tell me that he'd replaced the cable, checked the other shifter and both brake cables, as well as cleaning (my admittedly very dirty) chain and cassette AND adjusted the disc brakes. I went up a few hours later and found the bike in great (like new!) condition, and all VERY reasonably priced. I ended up buying 2 spare cables of each type to keep in my different saddle bags. I'd definitely come in again here, any time! read more

They were one of the worst repair vendors I ever dealt with. They were rude, insulting, and ripped me off, so unless you enjoy that behavior, I highly recommend staying away from those rip-off artists. Of note, was a neighboring vendor who agreed they had numerous complaints and a extremely heated altercation I witnessed with an employee the owner had just fired while I was there during my first of three visits to fix a flat tire - extremely incompetent! read more

Called to ask if they carried training wheels, answered right away, was nice on the phone. We went in to the shop and they helped us, were very nice. Was a little bit dark though, would have thought they were closed if we hadn't called first. read more

I was given a 2006 GT mountain bike several months ago and was unsure on where to go to get the part to fix it. Within a few minutes after coming into classic cycle Al had got the part ordered for cheaper than what I found online. It showed up sooner than if I had ordered it online as well. I fixed my bike and couldn't have been happier. I realized the shock needed to have air put in it so I brought my bike back to Classic Cycle and they helped me immediately. I sat with Al, Scott and Dan in the back as they walked me through what to do and how to do it as far as adjusting my shock. I've never had such great customer service and consideration of a rider from a bike shop as I did this one. 10 out of 10 out of 10.. Forever customer of Classic Cycle! read more

Very disappointed in the service. First, Al forgot to charge our credit card. Being honest people, 2 months later we called and told him. We did it again a 2nd time two weeks later. And then Al over-charges us!! Excuse me?!? What the hey!? When we called, he said that he rounded up the price and that there was an additional bike tax. Excuse me?!? Stopped in to discuss our 2 Specialty bikes. They were always leaking air. The guy behind the counter explained how as tires age, they begin to leak. New tubes were the answer. Went ahead and got a few other things, front and rear lights, a bell, tune up .... Had to go back the same day because the wheel was incorrectly installed so that it rubbed against the frame. The brakes rubbed so bad, I decided to adjust them on my own. And I write this now after the 3rd time going to get the bikes and finding the air in the tires has gone from 80psi to 40psi. They leak worse than those "old" tubes. The lights weren't as good as I thought. One is broken already. Oh well, live and learn. I would never go there again. read more
