This review is cathartic after what I've gone through the last couple weeks and my hope is that it will assist in the decision of those considering utilizing their services. I was quoted $2200 to have my BMW IX's partial mirror area replaced. They said it would take a day. I dropped it off on 8/15/25 on that date I left a $500 deposit. I hadn't heard from them in 5 days, so I texted them. No response. They closed late due to the heat, which I understand. I texted them again the next day and they responded stating that they had to order another part that wasn't expected and that it would be an add'l $1000. I asked why they didn't let me know first. They said "we needed to get the car done". They got the part on Thursday and never let me know about the add'l cost until after the fact, on Saturday. I was totally blindsided. I went to get the car on Tuesday, and I explained I wasn't paying the full $1000 due to lack of communication and them not knowing about the needed part. Steve was very nice and took responsibility. He went back in and brought Brock (manager) out. He was unprofessional, told me I was fired and they didn't want my business. Brock lost it and was shaking. They did negotiate on the price. A few days later Brock left me a VM, very vague. I didn't call back because I thought it was regarding the conflict. The next day the owner (Colleen) called me and I said I wasn't interested in discussing my experience and hung up. I later thought about it and ended up texting her, asking her what information she needed. She said I used a fraudulent card when I made my $500 deposit 2 weeks ago. She thought it had something to do with my poor customer service experience. I explained that happened 2 weeks prior. She seems reasonable on the phone. We couldn't figure out why someone said I used a fraudulent card. I looked through all my credit card charges and there wasn't a $500 charge. I offered to pay them $500 right then. She said she was out of town and wanted to talk to her bookkeeper first. That night I rec'd a 3 minute accidental VM from her and her husband Don, berating me and talking negatively about her staff. Threatening to fire staff. Turns out she thought I stole someone's credit card and didn't believe anything. The next day, I rec'd a call from my neighbor asking where I had the work done of my car. She let me know that they were the ones to report the fraud. Her daughter works for me and I often give her my credit card to run errands, etc. We both have Alaska credit cards. She accidently gave me her credit card which is what was accidently used for the $500 deposit. I called her and explained. Her lack of critical thinking skills were staggering. Why would I leave my $100,000 car at her establishment, steal a credit card for deposit and then pay the remaining $2000. I told her to look my husband and I up, we are both professionals in Portland. This could have been handled so much more professionally. There are lots of other body shops. Avoid the drama and unnotified extra charges and go somewhere else. Also, if the owner wants to refute anything I said I have documentation on everything. The quote I signed, the texts from her and staff and the VM she accidently left.

After a few months, the exhaust started to smell like gas and the check engine light came on. We put it off since the car is quite old. Now, 2 years later, we're due for DEQ and can't pass. I call SW Autobody to see if there is some kind of warranty. They say, no, after market cats don't have a warranty and they don't fix those anymore (massive sign out front says differently). A 30 second googl search tells me it's a federal law that cats must last 5yrs/50k miles for environmental purposes. The shop stops answering my calls and doesn't return my voice ails so I go in person. The lady tells me she's been doing this for 30 years and there is no warranty. I insist she give me her distributor's info. I call the distributor, find out there is a warranty but that they have never sold this part to this shop. Yikes. I get the repair done at another shop and they discover the cat is welded on... Likely salvaged / stolen off another vehicle. So I take the old one to sw auto body to get an explanation. Where did it come from? The lady said her distributor is the only place she gets parts from so she doesn't know what happened. Scratching her head like "who the heck put this in your car?! Man, that's so weird!" The whole song and dance... Chances are this is the cat that got stolen off my car in the first place lol. I told her I want this old car warrantied and to call me when she has it so I can sell it and make some money back. That would obviously be hard for her to do so she comes chasing me out into the parking lot with a random catalytic converter and asks me to take this one instead. Sure, whatever. I feel bad writing this review but I was cheated on the repair and disrespected throughout the process. Im a super easy going guy and this place walked allllllllll over me. Seriously terrible business. Shame on them.

First of all, I want to say Caliber Collision did an excellent job on the body work on my car. The…read moreright passenger door had been heavily damaged and it's good as new now. They did take a little longer to do the repair than I was initially led to believe but I understand these things can happen. My only real complaint would be the customer service aspect. The man who inspected and wrote up the quote on the car was rude and unprofessional. Not knowing the process of repairing the car, I made a comment about how I thought they would simply swap out the damaged car door. He immediately got an attitude, stating that I didn't know what I was talking about. He was tired of hearing people who assumed they understood the process of body work repair and that HE was the expert, not them. He also said, "would you assume to tell a brain surgeon how to do his job?" Seriously? He was comparing himself to a brain surgeon? In my business I am often meeting customers who do not understand the process and make incorrect assumptions. I don't take it personal, and I politely explain the correct process to them. It doesn't hurt my ego in any way. Again Caliber did a fine job on the body work, but the rude employee there needs to learn how to leave his pathetically weak ego at the door when he checks in for work.
