Amazing service!! Not only did he accommodate me he went over and behind to communicate directly with the insurance companies to make sure my vehicle had BMW parts not after market parts. This is a sad but true story, my BMW five series has been to spectrum three times. The first time I brought my five series into spectrum I had destroyed the front of the car so bad I was 100% sure insurance of cash me out. But to my surprise, the insurance company wanted it rebuilt. At that point I figured the car would be a mangled mess when I pick it up. So to my surprise after 30+ days of being in the shop. I figured I would get a call saying the car was not able to be put back together due to the extensive damage and insurance will have to pay out. Let me tell you I was dead wrong. When I finally picked up my five series, they look brand new. I think your looks are deceiving me so I have to find out how crappy the ride was going to be when I took it off the spectrum property. Well I was dead wrong again. The car drives and handles just as good as the day I took it off crevier's lot. Since that experience I have brought back my car two more times. I took my 3 week old Tesla 3 over for very minor side door damage while my husband had the car xmas eve. (he feels terrible) We googled them and their website is superb as is their onsite building in Irvine/Lake Forest. Started out ok with the estimate but as we talked it got much worse. Turns out they told me that it will be $5-6,000 because of their hourly rate is so high!!!!!!!!! This is for a very small minor repair. They said they would have to replace the front and rear doors, take out lights, cameras, match paint and because I have State Farm, they bagged on them big time, they wont pay everything and I should pay upfront then submit a claim. They suggested I go to another shop...... This was after the estimator said "Yes, sir" (I am a woman!) and made me feel like I was not worth much, even though I own a brand new Tesla. 2nd hand goods for sure. Don't go near this place unless you have major major work needed on most of your vehicle. This is an unethical place, stay clear...........even if you have major damage, don't go here. read more

I dropped my Tesla here for repair after an accident. It took five months to get the parts which I do not blame them for. They returned it to me and it still had damage where it was vibrating intensely and the rear seat and seatbelts are dancing and shaking and rocking and rolling. It's completely absurd they returned the car this way. When I brought it back they inspected and found major damage and a wheel that they somehow previously missed all together. They returned the car but once again it is not repaired and the same horrible vibration exists. As of today it is still sitting in their lot and they have yet to fix it and reimburse me for my car payments or insurance. read more

One of the reviewers wanted details, so here we go... I bought my first brand new car in March. In July, the hubby took my car to the grocery store and closed the garage door on the open hatchback (it's a compact SUV, so I don't know if you call that a hatchback? Trunk?). We realized the mistake when I went to leave for work, and the back of my SUV was tangled in my garage door. On a side note, thank GOD I didn't cause the damage, because I would be hearing about it for the rest of my marriage. The hubs felt genuinely horrified, and chose Spectrum Collision based on work they had done on his old car. They're highly recommended by Irvine BMW. To detail what needed to be done exactly, there were two small dents in the hatchback (I'm going to use that term for lack of a better word), a small scratch in the paint which went all the way to the metal, and the hatch needed to be realigned on the hinges. To do this, I was told they would strip the paint off the bottom part of the hatchback, pull the dents, re-paint the bottom, blend the new paint with the existing, and replace the emblems on the back. Originally I was told this would take a week... Problem number 1: the car was set to go to paint when they realized they missed a dent. They had to fix the dent, and put it back line for paint. Add one week to the repair...at this point I'm ok with this. They were honest about the dent and appeared to be doing a thorough job. I had a rental through my insurance, so I wasn't without a car. Now, the paint took longer than anticipated, and they were missing the emblems and a latch. I was told it would be done by Wednesday (2 weeks in the shop). No emblems or latch Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. So, my car stayed there through the weekend. I was told it will be ready Monday. On Monday (why didn't they already have the parts for a repair they knew they were going to do on a car that they have had for 2.5 weeks?) I was told that "Volkswagen sent the wrong part." I call BS on this, because at this point it's starting to look like amateur hour at Spectrum Collision. I was told that the part would be there Monday afternoon. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday...no part. Now we were at 3 weeks. The parts showed up late Thursday, and the hubs picked up the car on Thursday....there was over spray and debris on the clear coat, and the interior trunk mat had been ruined. They just left it as is, thinking we wouldn't notice that the mat was completely buckled from water damage. Mind you, this is a brand new car. We brought the car back...more buffing, painting, and "delayed shipment" of VW parts, and I was in a rental for 6 weeks. 6 weeks!! On a job that was supposed to take one!!!!! This was a miserable experience, and this is the last place I would take my car for future body work. read more

We took our 535 GT to Spectrum to repair a dent where an object flew up and hit the car. We went to them as Irvine BMW recommended them as the only "BMW Certified" shop in the area. Although my USAA said they had a coule other options in the area, we still went with Spectrum. They did the repair and from the quick glance, everything seemed fine. On the drive home, with the sun shining on the dash, we could see where the wood trim had scratches on the passenger side. There were no scratches on this when it was dropped off, I can confirm that because Irvine BMW had to replace the peice 3 times since we bought it to get one that was flawless. This didn't make sense as their work was only on the front driver's corner. Washed the car after getting home and we kept seeing spots on the car, which looked like it could have been from tape from something that may have covered the rest of the car while in painting. Called Spectrum to complain, they said to bring it back in so they can take a look at it. We had to take the car back to Irvine BMW to have the wood ordered because Spectrum wanted it to come under Warranty, rather than their screw up. They also buffed out a couple of the tape marks on the outside. When the part came in, took it back in to be replaced. Looking over the car, we could still see some tape marks on the outside, so called Spectrum again to let them know they actually didn't get all of them off, so they asked that we bring it in for them to detail it. Took the car back in yet again, for them to detail it. When we got the car back home, the wood trim was scratched yet again and not only that, the trim panel in the back was hanging loose by the window. You could easily tell that someone had yanked out the screen in the rear window to clean it, rather than rotating it the way you have to take them out. But the killer is that the person that did this actually left it that way...really??? Today, took it back to them yet again to look at this mess. They simply popped the back panel in place (of course we are hoping they didn't break any clips in the meantime) and walked my partner over to another shop where he said they carry some good stuff to buff out the wood with. The Spectrum rep bought the item and handed it my partner, telling him to take it home and buff it out. To add to this, when this rep called Mike out, who was involved for the previous visits, Mike was throwing attitude and not even addressing my partner to his face. Guys - it's not our fault that your people don't know how to do things correctly. This has take place over the past 2 months and for them to just blow it off as a 'DIY' project is absolutely ridiculous! Not to mention that they actually pushed for the first trim piece to be put under warranty instead of them being heal accountable. I am so irritated that this bunch of morons are in business for one, but more that they call themselves BMW Certified. Next step will be my letter to BMW Headquarters. Do not trust them with your car. Even when you put up a large note asking that they do not touch the wood trim, they do it anyway... i will upload pictures of what each trim peice looked like, along with the panel, after they touched it. read more

I'll start off by saying that I was never a customer here, and there is definitely a good reason why. I was involved in an accident in my brand new car (BMW), in which the rear, right quarter panel of my car was damaged. A friend of mine advised that I should take my car here for an estimate. I stopped by one morning, right before work and first spoke with the receptionist, who was pleasant. I provided my information and then waited a couple of minutes in the waiting room. A man came out and introduced himself as Gary Janzan. We went outside and I showed him the damage on my vehicle. He just looked at the damage and said it's going to cost $10,000 - $12,000 to repair. I was floored. I didn't feel like the damage was anywhere near that much. It seemed to me like he hiked up the price knowing that it is a brand new, expensive car. I asked if he could provide me with a written estimate to that effect, and he refused. He said that I would have to obligate myself to have my vehicle repaired there, in order for him to provide me with a written estimate. Are you kidding me? What collision shop refuses to provide a written estimate to a potential customer? I have never in my life had that happen, nor heard of anything like that! I took my vehicle in to another legitimate collision shop and he PROVIDED me (whoa, shocker) with a written estimate that listed the repair costs as $2,692. I definitely appreciated how honest and upfront he was with me about the entire process. I have one more collision shop that I am going to for an estimate, but I am leaning towards having my vehicle repaired at the second shop. Bottom line, I didn't get a good vibe at all from that Gary guy. He seemed very shady. I would avoid this place like the plague - especially since they refused to provide a written estimate. read more

This is for a previous appointment PRIOR TO THE 12th! Took the car in - due to a recommendation from Irvine BMW- found out its owned by the same company which by itself isn't a problem - Took it in for a panel replacement and repair. 1st issue is they hadn't for over a day and did not start any work because they did not know how to open the top. The damaged the car on the trunk /bumper and damaged the antenna - Glove box stopped opening after their work too---refused to fix or replace and problem that they made. when I brought the problem up they grabbed the antenna and bent it back from a 45 degree angle - so now reception is bad. They seriously damaged the exterior of the soft top by leaving large black grease spots on the interior and refused to fix it- saying I must have one it when I opened the top,.....really,..REALLY? Found out the damaged panel was not replaced but just unbent and a paint job so bad you can feel the bumps and waves in the horrific paint job. Also - we have lo-jack installed on the car and someone took the car on an unauthorized joy ride because lo-jack called us that our vehicle had been moved and was miles away from where it should have been. When we called the repair place they lied and said it never left - come on,....I know you guys test drive a car,....don't bull-sh*************t Needless to say - DO NOT GO HERE. BMW Irvine tries to say they have no connection,.....it's in the business reports. Sheesh. Go to Star Motors in San Juan Capusteano. Gregg and DeAnn rock and their service and work is rated and approved by BMW and as a AAA repair spot. Run,...don't walk from this place. Brought my car in here for an estimate after a hit and run on my car. Originally went to Caliber collision and got and estimate from them through farmers insurance but wanted to get some other estimates to see the overall price. When I went in and asked for an estimate and told them I was with farmers, they told me they don't usually do estimates for insurance and that I should just drop my car off... Taking me for an idiot. It doesn't matter if I have a deductible, I want to know what you're gonna charge me and this was a major red flag. After they did the estimate, they said they would email me and farmers to send it over, which they never did. Ended up wasting my time and they seem really SHADYYY so I wouldn't trust having them repair my car anyways. They would prob Charge me 40k after getting my car back knowing they don't wanna give estimates. read more

I am a little surprised to be seeing such good reviews here! I was referred here by my dealership to get a simple bumper replacement. I didn't get my car back for 6 weeks! And when I did, there were things missing from my car. It was probably my fault for leaving them there, but I really thought the car would be there for the originally quoted 4 days. When the dealership sent me back there for another issue with the car, Spectrum Collision quoted me 4K to correct the steering issue. Subsequently, I went to another place for a second opinion. They took care of the whole problem for $174! The only reason I give an extra star is because Tracy is nice. read more

Sadly my car was deemed a total loss, so no repairs were done at this facility. This is going to be a review of their customer service. I was very hesitant on bringing my 2013 BMW 328i here which just suffered major front end damage. When reading through the comments I had not seen many complaints regarding their workmanship... only customer service. So I gave it a shot First of all... If you want the job done right... it will take time... Even the documents I signed warned customers of this... stating no time frame is guaranteed and its approximately one week for every 1K of damage. Second of all... It all depends on which advisor you get too. I contacted Spectrum to let them know AAA will be towing my vehicle to them sometime during the week. Kyle took down all my information and told me he'd give me a call when the car came in. Once the car was at Spectrum they assigned my case to Johnny Maldjian. He was a pleasure to deal with. He answered all my emails right away, and was very thorough on what was happening at all times. I hope I will never have to use their services, but if I do I will surely come back. I am really surprised by the bad reviews because I had such a wonderful experience with Spectrum. Even my representative at Enterprise said Spectrum is by far the best collision center in town. It sounds to me like these negative reviews are just people complaining and they don't understand the quality of work that Spectrum performs and furthermore that we all "get what we pay for." Important to note: My repair did NOT go on my CARFAX. Also, I took my car into the dealer for a non related issue a few days later and the service guys couldn't even tell I'd had work done. This place is associated with Irvine BMW and Shelly BMW. This is a CERTIFIED BMW REPAIR CENTER. Which means quality is guaranteed and they will certainly charge you a lot for it!!! They take FOREVER to do what most shops will do in a week. Although they take a long time, the quality is unparalleled. They inspectors are top notch, careful and VERY detail oriented. They will spot EVERYTHING. They facilities are state of the art and are geared toward luxury cars (BMWs in particular). Thankfully, I was bringing my car there under an insurance claim that found the other party liable so cost wasn't an issue, and time really wasn't an issue cause they were paying for my rental car for as long as Spectrum took. My front bumper and left fender got scratched so they were going to sand it down and repaint it. The parts came back looking new, but not so new that they didn't fit in with the other 7 year olf panels of my car. The entire process took a month... ***SPEAK TO GARY JANZEN**** he's EXTREMELY experiences and courteous!!! ********************* The Good: State of the art facilities, excellent customer care, BMW Certified Standards, excellent at arguing with insurance to get them to pay for everything you deserve, QUALITY QUALITY QUALITY!!! ***Also they do a full detail of your car after they're done(wash, high speed wax, vacuum, shampoo, conditioner, dressings, etc.) My 7 year old car came out looking new!!! The Bad: Expensive and They take a really long time (however, if it's on someone elses dime, WHO CARES?!?) Sad to see all of the negative reviews. I love this place. Now I've only dealt with them through insurance. I had 2 accidents. Neither were my fault and in one, the most recent one, the owner promptly admitted guilt and her insurance (state farm got me a check and when more was needed spectrum spoke with them and they got the extra money needed. Easy peay) The previous one went through my insurance because the other driver lied and denied guilt .I won and got my money but that's pretty irrelevant here. They dealt with Geico no problems for me. As far as the repairs go. They are perfect. My car always looks brand new when I leave there. I love that they work so closely with Irvine BMW that way they can get the work certified by them. As for repair time. It is generally understood that it takes a week for every thousand dollars of damage. I had approximately $5000 worth and they repaired it in approximately 4 weeks. Maybe a few days more but not over 5. Nicholas, my repair coordinator kept me posted. Now I did contact him as well but it's my car. He emailed and called several times. He was respectful and always had the answers I needed. If he did not know the answer he didn't give me bull. He said "Let me find that out for you." Now that's amazing. Most people will BS you. They do not have the self esteem to admit they don't know something. Whenever I called the staff was always polite and aware. Also, after 90 days you get to go back for detailing and a wash. Spectrum Collision happens to be a certified collision center and I am thoroughly impressed with the quality of repairs on my car. I was in a minor fender bender 2 and a half weeks ago but no one would ever know. The color matching on my back bumper is perfect. Yes my car was in the shop for 2 weeks but collision repair is not fast food - I would rather they take their time and get it just right so I don't need to come back again and again. One day, I thought my car would look better if I backed into a pole. You know, give it more character. Well, it seemed like a bright idea. Visually the damage looked minor, the bumper was cracked and there was a dent on the rear corner of my car. My dealer recommended SCC and I went in for a quote. I was expecting a new bumper and dent removal, but it came out to about $7,000. Apparently getting hit on the rear corner of the car also bent my frame! Thank God for insurance. It did take forever for the car to be fixed. I think it takes about 1 week per thousand dollars of damage. Not a lot of communication either, but at some point they do call back!. On the day of pickup, the damage was not noticeable. In fact, it looked perfect. No holes covered up with bondo. No crappy uneven colored paint job. It was perfect. The only thing that kind of pissed me off was the interior cleaning and conditioning that they did. The car was new and so it originally had very soft and supple leather. Someone applied some kind of leather conditioner that made the leather hard and slippery. I didn't complain because I did not want to wait another 7 weeks for my car. If I had to, I would definitely go back again. This time, I would tell them not to clean! read more

I'm really particular about my car (it's my baby!) and everyone was in agreement that Spectrum is the best BMW shop in Orange County. A couple of weeks ago I backed into a huge truck with two hitches in front. I put a slight hole through the bumper of my fiance's Audi A4. The local Audi dealership recommended Spectrum and we ended up going with them because they seemed the most knowledgeable about the situation. It took 9 days to fix and part of the problem was that the bumper they ordered took three days to get there instead of the usual 1-2 days. When I picked up the car it was freshly washed (even though I took it in pretty dusty) and looked great. The bumper was fixed and they painted two additional pieces to make sure that the paint matched. It looked like new. On top of that, they have a lifetime warranty for all their work. The downside is their customer service. When I went in for the quote I was rushed because their Audi specialist, Rob, was just leaving (even though I was told that coming in at 5:00 would be fine). Once we dropped the car off, I had to call for all updates, even after I was told he would call me back. This happened three times. I guess it may have been worth it for the quality of the work. As far as pricing goes, they were a little high. But they were also recommended by the dealer and I was comfortable leaving the car with them. read more

My 2009 X5 was involved in a hit and run where the truck hit my back driverside passenger door then continued to keep on going. I took it to the only BMW USA certified repair shop in Orange County (SCC) what they thought would just be a 10 day job turned into 7 weeks, parts delays and insurance adjusters visits, like all the reviews before mine, it seems to ring true, the insurance adjusters have to continue to keep coming back to look at the extra repairs the shop says it has to do, is that terribly bad for us the client? No, since they do a great job but at some point this back and forth causes extra delays and major frustrations. two car payments later i finally got my car back, and since my insurance was taking care of it all ($16K+ total the original estimate from the insurance adjuster was for a little under $4k) i only had a loaner car for 30 days, then the remainder of the time i was wheel-less and angry at how long things were taking. I called and pinged everyone i knew in the industry to my insurance brokers the SCC rep handeling my repairs, my friend who works as a claims supervisor for another auto insurance company, and a friend who owns a body shop/mechanic in Torrance, to make sure i wasnt being given the run around, in the end it supposedly takes a long time to get BMW parts these days then the normal back and forth between shop and insurance. I want to blame someone but cant, i have $1k deductible so i was extremely upset the person who hit my car then took off was still out there not having to deal with this claim... in the end, SCC does amazing work, my husband kept telling Luis the manager at SCC WOW what an amazing job, the internal welding they did on the frame etc, my husband said the cars basically new again, mind you the cazr has 7k miles so it IS NEW grrrrrrrrrrr anyways its a reputable shop, and one with integrity in my opinion, and i know i put everyone involved under the microscope and or ringer, they might not like me so much now. Oh and one extra little thing which i think is big, my experience as far as personal communication and service was actually pretty good, they called or emailed me the status etc. and took the time to explain everything etc. the receptionist at SCC was ALWAYS super nice on the phone and seemed like she wanted to help unlike some other body shops.... so big thumbs up for that.. read more

My 2012 Mini Cooper ALL 4 was damaged only a few months after I brought it home. Some yahoo decided to trample my hood while my husband and I were staying in Newport Beach at Doryman's Oceanfront Bed and Breakfast. Even though my insurance recommended another repair shop, I wanted to take my MINI back to the dealer, it was only a few months old! Spectrum Collision is owned and operated by BMW and even though the yelp rating wasn't awesome I felt this was the best place to take my car. As I read through the reviews the biggest complaint was time it took for repair, not quality of work. I wanted my car to be new again. Chris received my car and assured me he would keep me posted on its repair. Robert keep in contact with me further as the insurance needed to be contacted and then replacement of my entire hood. He contacted me a couple times a week to keep me posted on the repair status even when he was waiting for the insurance adjuster. I appreciated his professional and honest appraisal of the process. My MINI was complete in two weeks. I really missed my car and would have loved it sooner but wanted a complete, excellent repair. I did not complain about the time and they did an excellent job. I would not hesitate to bring my car to Spectrum Collision, they even delivered my car cleaner than I brought it. They made a difficult experience end on a positive note. Eric Moore at Spectrum Collision is the best service advisor ever! My car had a fight with a pothole and lost, badly. Spectrum Collision came highly recommended to me and I tried them out. This was the greatest referral. I was promptly kept up-to-date on developments with my insurance company and the delivery of parts ordered to make the repairs. Eric took the time to explain what was going to be done to my car and the repair timeline. My BMW is back to looking spiffy and getting all kinds of compliments again. Called to make an appointment for a damage estimate and once I told them i wasn't going to use an insurance the guy on the phone told me it took hours and hours to do an estimate. Blah blah blah. They basically work for the insurance companies and don't give a damn about the real customers. So do yourself a favor and take it to a body shop that actually wants your business.
