I had been a patient at Clarus for four years and had purchased three pair of progressive eyeglasses during that time. One was a pair of sunglasses. All were very expensive. Very expensive. The progressive lenses were difficult to adjust to at first, a common problem. But the difficulty continued and despite adjustments remained problematic. Never a good sign when taking off your glasses provides the eyes with relief. Recently I purchased a pair of glasses with progressive lens online from Warby Parker. $265 for the frames and lenses. They were delivered a couple of days ago and the difference was marked. Easy transition along the trifocal range and no strain on the eyes. Good looking frames made of good quality materials, too. It is criminal that Claris charges three-four hundred dollars for frames. You're paying for about $25 worth of materials and manufacturing costs. So much for shopping locally. read more

I had what could of been a fairly serious issue from an eye infection. Not only did they agree to see me past their posted hours, Dr. Reck also came in on a Saturday to ensure my eye was healing properly. Best experience I've had dealing with medical issues. read more

I love this place and I love the doctors. The service I have received is always pleasant. That isn't the greatest reason I love the place. My daughter has had issues all of her life with her eyelashes rubbing against her cornea. . She still today has issues with this. I appreciate how fast Clarus will see my daughter and how they deal with the issue that day, I also love the frames they have in their optical department. In the last few years we moved a greater distance away, however we continue to drive to Clarus for our eye care needs. read more

I did NOT have a good experience. I went in for contacts and ended up going home blind and with wrong pair of trial contacts. I Never recieved a call back, when they specifically said they will call me with the correct ones. Weeks later I never got my prescription or the correct lenses. Not going to recommend to anyone. Major disappointment. Can't believe I spent my money at such a poor disorganized eye center. read more

I am very happy with Clarus Eye Centre. I felt they took they time to get the best fit for my contacts, along with excellent help with my glasses. My insurance covered my glasses and I chose to pay for my contacts. I felt the people assisting me took the time to identify what would work best with my insurance. The staff at the front desk treat you as if you are their only client. This continued on to the tech and ophthalmologist. I would highly recommend their service and expertise. read more

Saw Brian Finley, OD today bc I woke up with extremely dry eyes, photosensivity so bad that I could barely keep my eyes open. I have Sjogrens and RA. I have punctual plugs and take restasis. I have tried nearly everything for my dry eyes, but today I woke up and they felt way worse and hurt. They got me in the same day, which is awesome. The front desk was courteous to me and they called me back right away. The tech who took me in was really nice. But "doctor" Finley was an idiot. He looked at my eyes for like 30 seconds and said nothing was wrong. I asked if they appeared dry, he said they don't appear so dry that they're scarred, but that doesn't mean they're not dry.Then he said he doesn't see the punctal plugs, but I need to call my old doc to find out what kind they used. Then he said to keep using the eye drops I already use. Basically there was nothing he can do, or much advice he can give, but to "keep fighting the fight." Um, ok? The quality of doctors is great though the front desk needs to be more respectful of people's time. I scheduled an appointment for my son's first eye exam. I had to take time off from work and remove my child from school. After waiting 40 minutes in the main reception area, I had to leave in order to pick my other child up at the school bus stop. It was a very frustrating experience and I never received an apology or followup call from Clarus. I suggest they let patients know during check-in that they're running behind schedule so we have the choice to stay and wait-it-out or reschedule. Also, when it's a child's appointment, I suggest they do all they can to minimize the wait; most kids have a very difficult time sitting and waiting for long periods of time. Entertainment such as books and toys in the main entrance waiting room would help. I have rescheduled my son's eye exam with another clinic and am considering doing so for the rest of my family if I experience another long wait again. read more

Very happy with my experiences so far with regard to the techs and MD's. Not a big fan of any of my check ins, which have been multiple. No greeting or friendly face at the desk. I once was told as soon as I gave my name that I owned money with out even mentioning the appt. No problem but that did make me feel like a number. I hadn't even received the bill yet. That said, there are wait times. And sometimes not. I work in the medical field and everyone should expect this! Unit times are made to the best of their ability, but they are dealing with people here. Some take less time, some take more. My first MD appt was cut short because he was obviously annoyed that I was asking so many questions. I just stopped talking and rescheduled with another surgeon. Very happy with my decision. If you want a lot of added buffer time so you have zero wait time, a business looses money for down time and all will be charged more in higher fees. Yes, you want them to care about you in a personal way, but it is also a business. I say, plan your time better. Change your time expectations and focus on the service. I am high maintenance in my outcome expectations and so far, all is good. The surgery counselor is very knowledgeable and helpful with a goal to get it right. I should have trusted all the Yelp reviews and skipped this place. I have GREAT insurance but they still talked me into upgrades that I had to pay for out of my own pocket. The wait was 20-30 minutes, my eyes were so over dilated I actually got sick for 2 days. I called and complained and they responded with "we are so sorry you feel that way, unfortunately the employee was in training and maybe overdid it". I was quite skeptical to visit Clarus for the first time after seeing the terrible Yelp reviews, but my old optometrist was no longer in-network. However, WOW the entire visit from start to finish was excellent! I feel that they have changed things up a lot since the previous reviewers have paid them a visit, and it is definitely worth giving them a shot!! Right from when I first walked in, I was greeted by a woman at a podium whose job seemed to be facilitating the whole patient experience. She led me to where the check-in counter was and made sure I was seen by someone at check-in promptly(there was no one in line and I waited less than 2 minutes). She also informed me of bathroom locations and where I would be directed next after I checked in. After checking in, I moved to "waiting lobby 1" where I again waited no more than 5 minutes, there were only two other people waiting ahead of me. The rest of the appointment went by quickly, as the staff there worked very efficiently. Once in the patient care room, I waited for the doctor just long enough to give my eyes time to dilate(MAYBE 5 minutes, tops). Dr. Heather Mueller was very friendly and answered all of my questions knowledgeably. The optical center has a great choice of regular and designer frames(Jimmy Choo, Michael Kors, Fendi, Valentino, etc.). I would highly recommend Clarus to anyone looking for prompt service, great doctors, and quality frames! read more

OMG!!! Stay away. I had to take my elderly grandmother there and had the worst experience with the everyone. First they called to make an appointment and told her to go on-line to fill out some paperwork. I brought her to my home and we both did it together. I had read some previous reviews about the wait time and check in and they had greeter who escorted you to the check in persons and seemed to check on patients in the waiting area to see if they had been seen yet. That was nice but once you get into the check in desk it is horrible. You fill out all the crap on-line then they ask you for more information. My grandmother had to stand there and answer questions and she is hard of hearing so basically there is no privacy there and she had to stand for a long time before we where able to sit down. Note to Clarus if you have to fill out paperwork on-line then the only thing you need to do at the desk is provide insurance and payment and sign privacy statement, which you don't have when everyone can hear your answers of the person checking in the next stall. We sit down and waited in the mean time a lady came out angry then heck demanding to talk to the manger. Long story short apparently the tech who was doing her workup kept leaving the room to do other things and not concentrating on the exam so she had enough and left. Yes everyone has these ear pieces in and do a lot of conversing to others while waiting on patients while I was there. Its very annoying and impersonal and this should have been the first sign that these place is a meat factory but I ignored it. They called my grandmothers name and we proceeded to go with this tech and she said I could wait in the waiting room so I sat down and then they went into a room and a minute later she the tech came and got me. My grams said I had to stay. I don't know if they understand what hard of hearing was but my second sign to leave. The Tech takes my grams glasses and says she has to measure them and leaves the room for five minutes and then comes back and proceeds with the work up and during this whole process she talking to others stating she is with a patient and how annoying is that. Then she says the Dr will be in shortly and took the glasses again to measure them. WTH you took them the first time I said what where you doing when you left the room. Finally we see the Dr. who is in the room for exactly 2 minutes examined my grams eyes and left. Are you kidding me a two minute exam with the Dr. Then sent the tech back with a prescription no good byes no nothing. WTH never felt like a piece of meat before. I blame my husband for all of this. He went for a lasik consult said they where friendly and professional and he was in and out in no time and the Dr. took time to answer any questions he had. Cash is king baby. We are out of pocket on lasik so of course they are going to be friendly with you. I am so glad I forgot to pay them this day. My intentions was to pay after the exam while grams was looking for glasses but after this experience my husband will be going elsewhere for lasik because i made him cancel his procedure as soon as I got home, if his procedure went well I was going to do lasik next year but this place will never get any business from me or any of my family. I should have left when the angry lady was talking to he manger the first sign on bad business practices. read more

I called for an appointment. I stated I will pay cash.....They stated GREAT it will be 300.00 for each child for each exam!!! 600.00 Total! NOW both kids have been there before. I recommend you shop around. The receptionist stated they look for EVERYTHING in their eyes....Sorry honey but my children get regular eye exams and never have had issues! I have FULL insurance and was willing to pay cash to get same day apt with a DuPont doctor who doesn't accept my insurance! Nice facility. They have a Walmart style greeter. That seemed odd. While they have many receptionists to check you in, I waited a long time - about 30 mins past my scheduled time - to see the optometrist (Mueller). I left with a prescription which turned out to have an error in it. When I checked prices for lenses at Clarus, the optician didn't catch this error. It was an optician at Walmart who noticed it. When I drove over to Clarus to pick up the corrected prescription, that one had another error (the wrong date for my exam). It took a supervisor to fix it. When I spoke with him, Steve Crow, he wasn't at all apologetic; it was like talking to a robot, he just explained what had happened. He said the responsibility for the original error was the optometrist's responsibility (and there must have been a data entry error)- yet, he also confessed the optometrists don't actually sign the prescriptions?!?! The second error was allegedly due to a newer person not knowing a supervisor had to regenerate the corrected prescription. As as for the Clarus optician not catching the error, he said she probably didn't look at the prescription. Yet, how can an optician know what kind of lenses will work without checking the prescription? I have been wearing glasses for around 50 years. This is the first time I have been given the wrong prescription. If this is reflective of their attention to detail, I think it is better to head to another facility. I prefer competency over appearances. read more

Now I see why Clarus Lacey gets bad reviews. I went there for the first time in March of 2016. I went there becuase my former OD had retired and I needed to find a new one in my network. The visit in march was fine but I didn't get my prescription filled until August because I still had my old glasses and I was travelling a lot during the interim. Dr. Finley said my prescription hadn't changed from my previous one from my old OD. I got my glasses at Costco and when I read with them it was harder to read than it was with my old ones. I went back to Costco (where I got my old and new pair) and the said the new prescription was not as strong as the old one. I called Clarus and they said that I had to come back in and get re-checked. I made an appointment for 8:05 on Monday. I went in for my appointment (early) and they told me that I would have to pay another charge to get re-checked because it was longer than 90 days since the exam even though they had told me the prescription hadn't changed from my previous one when in fact it had. Then after they confirmed with a manager that I would have to pay for a second exam they told me that I would have to wait until 8:30 when the optometry shop would open. Why would they schedule me for 8:05 when the place I need to go to isn't even open until 8:30? Why didn't they tell me that I had 90 days to get new glasses and check the prescription? And why didn't they tell me that I would be charged again when I spoke with them on the phone? I'm now going to Costco for my exam. It's a lot easier. read more

I can't say enough great things about Clarus. I was greeted as soon as I entered the building to check in for my appointment and this hospitality continued throughout my visit. I was seated less than 5 minutes before I was called back to start my exam. I felt that Dr. Rudd and his staff were caring and thorough. They answered all my questions and reviewed my care plan in detail. I left feeling that all my eye care needs had been thoughtfully met. read more

I've been in the hunt for a comprehensive vision care center for a few years. I value the ease of having all my needs in one location, and I also appreciate great customer service. From the moment I arrived at Clarus I was impresssed by the positive and caring attitudes of their staff. The exam process was seamless, efficient and professional. I was made to feel valued and appreciated. The time spent in their building was well spent. I found some frames which made my mug look good, although the prices are a tad bit higher than Costco-but you get what you pay for. My Costco lenses were not as well matched to my eyes, and I think the prescription lenses I got at Clarus were of superior materials. As for the spelling of their business, maybe it's a European thing-but I spell Center like Center. read more

I was referred from my DR to Clarus Eye Centre regarding some blurriness I was experiencing. The facility is really nice and I had a little bit of a wait but nothing too long. The staff seemed nice but my issue comes with the charge. They billed my insurance and received $140 and then I see a line for $63 for a refraction fee. I called and asked the billing department and they said it was for printing my prescription. I asked and I quote "you are charging me $63 for printing the prescription? If I would have said no I don't want the prescription I wouldn't be charged that?" She said yes that is correct. That should have been covered under my evaluation which they were already paid $140 for. I will never go back there if this is how they charge people. $63 to print a prescription seems to be a sham. I don't mind having to pay to print the prescription but $63, come on Clarus, really? read more

WAITS WAITS WAITS! I cant believe I ever went to this place, the staff is over worked and honestly management SUCKS! Seems like there are few staff who actually do work and the manager is just doing nothing to even out the workload and I can tell this by just standing in line ( for a LONG time ) .... once the check in process was complete ( Julianna is the best! ) the staff was kind and told me that I would be waiting YET AGAIN! ... after 30 min of waiting I am told that I was next and proceeded to wait another 20 min ... thankfully i was not busy and had no where to go.. while I was waiting conversation sure does carry in that building because I heard enough from the front desk and what appeared to be supervision... maybe Clarus staff doesn't know how much their voices carry ... once i was called back the visit seemed to pick up even though my tech seemed very fake, pretty Hawaiian looking lady but very show off like ... THANK GOODNESS for the Dr because he was just amazing Dr. Rudd really took the time out to answer my questions and he actually gave me eye contact unlike the tech who looked through me. Dr. Rudd gave me the best exam and treated me with respect... i don't know if i would come back for anything other than the Dr.... management is just sitting in their office, or talking to their staff about their children while I'm standing in line listening. I would recommend people go to Clarus on a good day and see Dr. Rudd he is worth the trouble of the staff. read more

I really can't recommend this place. As other reviewers have noted they practice warehouse, assemble line medicine. The doctors and their minions all wear bluetooh gadgest in their ears and keep running from one place to another. But my biggest objection is that this clinic seems to be a Medicare money making mill. I have macular degeneratioin and the doctor (Penny Wreck) immediately decided I needed a series of injections. She gave me one and the bill submitted to Medicare for this one injection came to over $1,200. She said I would need a series of them. So I decided to get a second (and third) opinion. I saw two different opthomologists - both specializing in retina care. Both said I was not a candidate for these injections even though they could have made a lot of money from Medicare by administering them. When I called to cancel future appointments with Clarus, I got a call back from someone there saying that I could very well go blind if I did not return. I feel that the docs who own and operate Clarus are somewhat challenged ethically. I have since met several other reduced vision people in this area who have had a similar experience. read more

We just found out our 6 year old daughter needed glasses. We took her in to try to pick some out, but the ones that looked good on her were in "boring colors" and she was drawn to everything pink. After seeing what she was interested in the woman helping us suggested she order a few of the designs that looked good in colors that would be more appealing to my daughter. Two days later we got a call and went in and they had order 5 or so pairs of frames for her to try, all in colors she liked and in a frame that would look good on her. She was able to quickly decide on a pair that are going to be great, and they did a few upgrades on the lenses, but only what our insurance would cover. We are getting a great pair of glasses, with a two year warranty, and they made sure our insurance covered the whole thing. I feel like they went above and beyond for her and made our first glasses buying experience fantastic. read more
