I took a friend to her 1:30 appointment. At 4:00, she was called back to an exam room. I followed her down the hallway as I had been outside and just happened to walk in wondering WHAT was taking so long. As I entered the room (the door was not shut) the nurse or whomever she was, just rudely exclames, there were 3 emergencies! I just told the other nurse who had walked me to the room, "I worked for a doctor who had a 3 to 4 hour hold up every day due to "emergencies ". read more

I went to Olympia Sound Retina. The wait time was excruciatingly long and the optician's assistant was extremely rude and condescending. Call me old-fashioned but I don't do business with businesses that treat me rudely for no reason.... Needless to say I walked out of the room and she kept wanting to 'talk' with me, and I told her, "I don't want to speak to you". I will look elsewhere for surgery. read more

Sound Retina has a geographical monopoly on an essential service to primarily older folks, providing monthly injections for Macular Degeneration. ​Since using ​Dr. Nelson and his company​'s service I have moved and gone to other Retina specialists, now living permanently in California Sound Retina was awful beyond belief. For my last injection prior to moving from Washington I went to a Retina specialist in Portland and it was like night and day. Unlike Sound Retina (SR) the procedure at all other specialists take around ONE hour. SR made us wait Two and a Half Hours for each appointment. At other specialists the staff are helpful, have plenty of appointments and worked with MY schedule, the patient. My third and final injection at SR was the Most Painful Injection I have ever had!! ​ ​At SR three surgical treatments were stretched out over nearly five months from my first contact with them which was as quickly as I could get from them, ​LONGER ​than the pharmaceutical recommended intervals​ of four to five weeks. SR spaced my last appointment out FIFTY THREE DAYS apart!​ My f​forth​ treatment was from an alternate provider thank God. Although SR treats you nicely while you're there, I feel that the other two doctors CARED about me​.​ During the time I used S.R. my vision in the eye ​being treated​ drastically deteriorated. From the affected eye ​during SR treatment​, while driving, the rear of an 18 wheel tractor trailer​ looked​ like a minivan. S.R refused to use the drug Eylea which ​then ​cost around $1,850 per injection which was the first medication I received elsewhere and opted to use. SR used Avastin, then costing around $70 per dose, because my "insurance company would not pay for Eylea." Only after Monthss of begging for Eylea, did ONE SR employee reveal to me that if I change to straight Medicare Eylea would be approved. This took months to find out if I dropped my then current insurance plan and go straight Medicare Eylea is paid for. I ​have seen​ ​two ​alternate specialist​s​, who administer my treatments in appointments which take ONE HOUR. Sound Retina requires TWO AND A HALF HOUR appointments. My new provider​s​ also scheduled appointments closer together per drug manufacturer's recommendation. At my last appointment with Dr. Banda of Sound Retina, to avoid the ridiculous wait between appointments I requested ​1) ​in person with the Sound Retina snooty staff and ​2)​twice via email to Dr. Banda to modify appointments which Banda ignored. Hiding behind a snooty facade, ​SR cares about THEIR schedule, not the patients'.​ Worse with Dr. Banda the results of my ​final SR ​treatment were exponentially more painful than other treatments. I used an ice pack throughout the day after the Banda treatment. After the anesthetic wore off Dr. Bandas' treatment hurt!, for hours. My current retina specialist here in Marin County California is great and I suggest you look up my Yelp review for them, as was my excellent retina specialist in Portland. SR is by far the worst Retina specialist I have ever visited. Do yourself a favor and drive to Portland or anywhere else to find an alternative. read more

I have ongoing eye issues and have had them treated everywhere from Beverly Hills to Washington state. This place is THE BEST. In and out in an hour. (Taking all the pictures and doing the assessment often took three or more hours at other places.) Special shout-out to Amy for her most excellent "needlework." Everyone is very nice and extremely professional. The office is set in a lovely wooded setting that helps with the stress. read more

For several years I've been seeing Dr. Nelson and everything went smoothy until 2 years ago. That is when they hired a new referral speacialist and not one referral has been in their system when I arrive for my appointment, since. This week was no exception and I was again expected to wait while they scrambled to get one. This time i decided to complain to Nelson reminding him its been 2 years of not having one referral in place, but he did not want to hear it and walked out. After 30 minutes they were able to get a referral but it didnt include getting my avastin shot and he tried to give me a lame excuse about insurance and I responded that it was due to Baileys continued incompetence. Again Nelson didn't want to hear it and walked out. Tbe assistant said she would try to get an approval for the shot and asked me to wait. After 20 minutes they came back but Nelson was still angry and asked if I wanted to see another Doctor. I walked out. They hired a second referral specialist since Bailey isn't able to complete the job her predecessor did so expertly, but its obvious the job still isnt being completed properly. I will now being going to a specialist that values their customers and until Sound Retina resolves the issue of incompetent staff you should avoid them as well. read more

I've had eye issues for the longest time but I've always been scared of doctors. Good thing my officemate recommended Sound Retina! Excellent, professional service was provided by their ophtha assistant, Miss Marigold, and by Dr. Truxal himself. This was in February 2021 when almost everyone was covid-vaccinated already, but I appreciate that they were very strict with their health protocols inside the office. read more

The rating says it all. Different stories by different employees, the receptionist couldn't remember to provide instructions when handing out buzzers so people just left them everywhere with no one collecting them. When I returned mine, I was told as a "favor, this once" they would accept it.. who knew there was a basket in a separate room? From the twenty something's that had a chip on her shoulder and 90 seconds into her portion told me "she had other clients more important " or the three hour wait for them to figure their computer was down.. or the hostility when asking for a summary of my visit, I was informed there was nothing she could do to provide one... a requirement by law.. the dr was swapped for one I wasn't familiar with and it seemed that this shouldn't matter because he was an "Owner".. Sadly these people are clueless and rely on old people who don't speak.. or at least that is what the "manager" told me, but then they said they were the manager 4 different times, as if I hadn't heard it the first time.. Here you are cattle, expected to spend three ours for your 15 minutes.. I gave up, lost confidence, they may or may not have competent doctors, but their hiring practices could use some brushing up, as I informed the front desk a member of their team called me a liar, they failed to address the situation or the fact that their combative employee was eavesdrop around the corner.. it was sadly the waste of five hours and I can't recommend that anyone else go through it, if I was a little older i would easily say it was elder abuse.. read more
