10-10-10 out of 10-10-10 I especially like the friendly, upfront atmosphere and prompt service. They tell me what are and are not covered by my insurance. Dr. Ly tells me everything that I would and would not love to hear but I already know it and how to proceed with her referral, which I need to know. Again she is very candid, competent, thorough, and detailed in explaining all my questions (knowledgeable) in a fair-minded way, and is caring and cost conscious to the patient's benefit. Her office is equipped with state of the art technology and no nonsense professional staff. They will not charge you anything more than you have to pay needlessly. For example, they ask me if I want eye dilation (insurance covered) or flash digital imaging ($25), my choice is the latter, which is a more advanced preferred procedure, rather than to walk away with dilated eyes. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would! Just to put into perspective... I had a scheduled appointment for my 4 year old daughter to pick out her eye glass frames. Showed up late by 10-15 minutes. (Didn't even call to inform the office I was going to be late), just showed up late. We were still treated with the utmost care and understanding. They acknowledged and interacted with my daughter. Had us in and out within 15 minutes of being there. Very polite and friendly atmosphere, highly recommend this business. Definitely kid friendly and very understanding and knowledgeable about working with kids. read more

Not family friendly. Came in with three kids after having issues parking, was told we were past the threshold to be seen. We were one minute past their turn away policy. If you see someone come in wrestling three kids through the door you have no clue it's one thing to get an individual there but a group of kids plus one with special needs it was very annoying to be told we were one minute past. According to my watch we were not past their threshold. Read the room better, fire the front desk and hire a robot with no empathy that's what you're dealing with anyways. We're going somewhere else for the kids check up. We all have something going on during our day and you can expect some tardiness from your patients but one minute on your watch.. make the freaking exception ding dongs read more

I had a distressing, upsetting and expensive experience at this office and am never going back. I was a new patient there for my first (and now only) visit, and upon entry, I immediately had to pay upfront, as if I was going to sneak out the back door after the exam. I am self-employed and pay cash, which most medical offices appreciate because they don't have to deal with insurance. This office offers no discount or courtesies to self-pay patients (or seniors). After paying $175 for a routine checkup and the digital eye dilation, which seemed like a reasonable cost, I then was presented with another cost sheet for extra services, none of which I wanted or needed. There was a line that said "Contact lens fitting." I specifically told them upfront that I was there for an exam and did not need new contacts or eyeglasses. Just a checkup. Dr. Ly is business-like and competent. She proceeded with the exam, which was just like every other eye exam I have ever had. She gave me slightly updated prescriptions for my contact lenses and my eyeglasses, even though I said I didn't want them. I said, "I don't need new prescriptions." She said, "The prescriptions are good for two years." Okay, whatever. I had no idea that's what constitutes a "contact lens fitting." It never has in my experience. Dr. Ly drops the paperwork at the front desk and walks off without a word. I then was ordered to pay another $150 for a "contact lens fitting." I said I didn't ask for a contact lens fitting. The billing representative with ice in her veins didn't care. So this 45-minute routine exam cost me $325, which sets a new record. read more

When the optician asked me what I wanted the most out of a pair of frames, I said I wanted to look cute to other guys at the gay bar. She stared at me and frowned. Whatever, I thought, maybe she's just having a bad day. I ordered the frames and paid. Then she told me that the lifetime guarantee is only good if I return the frames to this specific office. What if I move out of state, I asked. She said, well, you mail the old frames to me and I'll mail the new ones to you. That'll mean a few weeks without glasses, but, I thought, fine. When will they be ready? Two weeks, she said. Two and a half weeks later, I haven't received any call or email or anything. So I called them. When I explained what happened, the receptionist responded, "who are you again?". It took her a while to find me in their system. She then said she needed to call the lab. I called back again ten minutes later, and she told me they hadn't even sent the order to the lab to make the lenses yet. They forgot to. So, I asked how long this Wouk take. She said, half a week. I said ok, let's set an appointment for Wednesday. She said, sorry, we can't, because the optician is leaving early that day to have lunch with her friends. So, I asked her to cancel the whole thing. She said she did. 2 weeks later, at another optician, my insurance declined me because Van Vision still has yet to cancel their claim. I sincerely regret going here. The white lady with curly blonde hair who's in charge of glasses fitting (Jennifer) was extremely rude. I help my parents with translating all the time and since I don't have much knowledge about the terms you use for glasses I was struggling to translate it to my father, but instead of patiently explaining it to me again she demanded "professional translator" and repeatedly stated that she was "uncomfortable" with talking to me. I understand she wanted to provide appropriate glasses for my father, but the way she talked and her responses with my questions were very rude and disrespectful. She lowkey gave me that racist/ discrimination vibes because of my lack of translation skills. I was also very embarrassed that she said all that stuff out loud to the point where everyone in the room could hear which was very inconsiderate. We don't need a "professional translator" to get our damn glasses. It's her job to deal with patients with different struggles everyday. She knew I was struggling to understand her so she should've been the one to patiently help us out instead of making us think we'll never visit this place again. I've never had this kind of experience especially as a patient. read more

There was miscommunication with my appointment regarding expectations for a contact fitting and details to expedite the process (and documents we could have brought to help the process). I started the appointment very frustrated/angry due to not getting full information when scheduling the appointment coupled with my limited availability to come back for multiple follow ups that i was not informed was part of the process. That being said, the staff was incredibly calm and did there best to diffuse the angry customer (me). They remained professional the entire time. And Dr Ly did a terrific job with my daughter during the exam. And she figured out a way to help accommodate our needs. Very thorough eye exam and professional atmosphere. read more

I only see Dr. Ly every two years but I always look forward to seeing her! She has had the same office lady since I started going here 10 years ago and that to me says multitudes about her professionalism and kindness. She is always prompt, asks about my life, and explains to me how my eyes are changing. The true joy of the experience is picking out glasses with Jennifer. She is engaging and always makes sure I take my time to pick the perfect glasses for me and my face. She even found me glasses that look like my very favorite pair from 10 years ago. The doc is very knowledgeable and the eye exam was quick and painless. I have very poor vision and have been to a LOT of eye doctors over the years. I recently had to switch as my company changed insurance carriers to one that doesn't list many covered providers in my area (*shakes fist at aetna*).
