Shrimp and Scallop plate end of the season August 2024
    Sheryl S.

So this is a review from last year. We ordered a hotdog plate as well as a few other items. It must have been an off day. I didn't post or do a review as I had reached out to the business and was offered a gift certificate to come back and try it again. Not only did the owner give us a GC to Clam Haven but also to Rig A Tony's. It was at the end of the season and we got a seafood platter and a 2 way shrimp and scallops. My shrimp and scallops were delicious came with 3 onion rings (nice touch) and french fries. As a teenager my husband and I worked at Lobster Claw down the street so we feel we have a pretty good idea how seafood businesses work and this being an iconic part of Derry, we were pleasantly surprised how great our food was. If you have any concerns I would always reach out to Lisa and explain your situation with her first, she will 100% make it right. She wants to continue the legacy of this iconic summer restaurant and will always do her best to provide you with a good experience. We are looking forward to trying it again this weekend and hope to have the same experience as the last.

Overall score 3.2 out of 5 They only have outside seating No restrooms My service was OK, but they forgot my order so I waited around forever until I reminded them about my order I had the lobster roll. It was decent, but I would not go out of my way for it.

    Receipt showing "Customer Svc Fee".

Been going to Clam Haven for years. This was my first time under new ownership: Ordered the Scallop Basket. The breading was off. Came with onion rings, the breading was sweet. Made the whole meal a disappointment. Was charged a "Customer Svc Fee (3.%)". Was not advised of that fee. Total bill for a Scallop Basket with 7 scallops was $33.32. Service Fee was not disclosed on their electronic menu board (I took a video of the menu board/pricing afterwards to evidence it). I suspect it is illegal to charge the convenience fee fee without customer notification. (receipt attached in photos). If you look at receipt - you will notice, no tip, I tipped in cash as there was no way to tip on the credit card! Will not be going back again. I do NOT recommend. To the new owner: - in addition to the food taste comments, and Svc Fee mentioned above; the electronic menu board scrolls a bit too fast, making it challenging to review the menu. It is also hard to read in daylight unless you are under the canopy and you need to be ready order, by the the time you can read the screen, then the screen changes! The TV monitor menu technology idea may not be as appealing to customers as you may think. Your vibe is old school, the TV monitors change that. I suspect you choose that option as it is easier to changes prices on the fly. And no I am not retired or have vision issues! Will not be going back again. I do NOT recommend.

$15.50 Scallop Roll. I know that prices are up everywhere but this may help explain the lack of customers this season.

$15.50 Scallop Roll consisted of 6 small Scallops in a smaller than average Hot Dog Roll. I know that prices are up everywhere but this may help explain the lack of customers this season. Stone COLD Clam Chowder was not worth the $6.00. A quick heating in the Microwave at home couldn't help the overall lack of Clams and flavor. The Two Hot Dog Special is still a bargain, even with the $1.50 adder if you go all Onion Rings. No, they're still not the Clam Haven Onion Rings of days gone by. More greasy and less flavorful. sigh. No lines, no waiting is not always a good thing.

Small scallops for $21. Some of them have rotten tasted.

Wanting to find a good lobster roll in NH, found out about this place so we give it a try. The place opens at 11 am and we were one of the first customers. The lady staff is nice and friendly, but the order came out differently than what we requested (we asked to have the sauce on the side, ended up being mixed in) I know it's not the lady staff's fault. It's the cook. And this is in the morning so I think he hasn't fully awake yet ^^; The lobster roll tasted ok for $18. But the small size of scallop for $21 doesn't seem to fit the price. It's kinda soggy. And I noticed weird rotten taste on some of them and I have to quickly spit it out. The Haddock plate for $13.50. The fish tastes good. I hope they pay more attention with what they serve to the customers. Hope for the best

    Waiting for Ice Cream......

Been going here for YEARS!! However...since new management took over last year it simply hasn't been the same. The menu has simplified, but that also means fewer selections. Prices have increased. They now charge a "service fee" if you use a credit card. And on some foods the product has gone downhill. Today was bad. We went for Ice Cream. Had one customer with 3 IC in front of us....it took her a good 10 minutes to make THREE Ice Creams!! The employee seemed new and by the looks clearly didn't know what she was doing. Worse is the "supervisor" had to assist with orders because when it finally came to mine she handed me the wrong Ice Cream!! Poor woman couldn't tell which ice cream was what!! This was piss poor service. I feel bad for the employees because they are overworked...but they also show incompetence. You need to TRAIN YOUR EMPLOYEES!! You need to HIRE MORE HELP!! I feel bad for the line behind us, but you wonder why sales are down. It's because your product went down the sink. Your prices skyrocketed, and your employees need assistance. If you cannot bring it back this place it will slowly die and we will blame the new OWNER for ruining it!

    Clams

we have been going to clam haven since little kids. we havent been in a few years. It has gone down hill. we got a 2 way combo and a 3 way combo and 2 sodas for $75 way overpriced. The batter was very salty and over cooked. .50 for extra tarter sauce which was a tiny serving. one dinner they forgot the onion rings which were soggy anyway. clams were extra crunchy. scallops were over cooked. will not be returning.

    I was like what? Pool?

Strongly recommend against the soft serve ice cream -- completely lacking in flavor, save for a chemical aftertaste.

We had a party of 7 and we were very excited to finally try Dreo. We started with 2 orders of the calamari and the spinach dip special. My husband noticed the calamari also had shrimp which I am allergic to. They happily removed the shrimp but unfortunately it's fried in the same oil (which is completely logical) but everyone at our table (besides me) throughly enjoyed the calamari. I cannot even begin to explain how good the spinach dip was. I'm not sure I'll have want to eat spinach dip without garlic bread again!!! Next up entrees: 2 ribeyes, 1 NY strip, 1 Korean BBQ Bowl, 1 Soy Maple Glazed Salmon, and 1 Tuscan Fried Chicken. I am newly pregnant and to be honest I was not looking forward to eating out because my go to is rib eye but I refuse to eat well done meat so instead I ordered the Tuscan fried chicken. I also asked to sub the mashed potatoes for truffle fries and the veggie medley for green beans. They had no problems with my requests which I loved. I loved every single bite of my chicken and I actually stopped caring that I was missing on steak! In fact every single person at our table loved everything they ate too. We ended our meal with cookie skillets and again absolutely delicious! Now our meal was fantastic by itself but I have to say our waiter Brett was just as amazing!! He couldn't have done a better job and he totally rolled with our parties over the top personalities. Even if the food wasn't outstanding we'd go back just for the service! I really hope of the owners or managers see this; Brett is fantastic and deserves praise!! We will definitely be back and since I still have about 7 and half months to go I will be coming back for more Tuscan fried chicken soon!!

Walking in 7 minutes after opening, this place was already packed. Full of Patriots fans hooping and hollering to the end of the fourth quarter. Every appeared in a merry mood, and everyone knew each other it seems. Service here was great. Our waitress whipped around the room with finesse and speed, working the bar and tables all by herself. She was to the point but pleasant. The beers are ok, but they aren't anything spectacular. An average selection of nearby beers of all varieties. Going to other breweries in New Hampshire, I know that this state can produce good beers. Perhaps they just had a mediocre selection the week I was there. We ordered a medley of items and most of it was hit and miss. In the sampler, the pork cracklings were decent, although dinner pieces were hard to chew since they turned into a dense fried bit. The fries were ok, but standard. The tator tot was actual pretty good, but there's this sweetness and texture that makes me think of pumpkin? That could be upsetting to some. The chicken tenders are ok, but the breading isn't seasoned or exciting in texture. It felt like how I would fry chicken at home with only one coat of breading. The pickle chips were good, even though they were not spicy at all. If they called these paprika coated chips, then I would agree. But texture wise, they were actually crisp and not super watery. The pulled pork tacos are ok, but they rely more on sweet barbeque sauce more than anything else. The tortillas are subpar in flavor, but sturdy enough to hold everything together. The veggies slaw did add some nice acidity though. The wedge salad here is terrible. I should have looked up what others posted before I ordered it. It was a literal wedge of plain iceberg, with all the other ingredients and fixings dumped in the middle. The stuff in the middle was ok, but nothing felt harmonious. Just a bunch of salad ingredients added to a giant paper tray. It felt like a waste of 9 dollars for what was lazy preparation.

The restaurant itself seems to be more family friendly and sports bar oriented and was decorated quite nicely. The menu is expansive and has a variety of great options. They even have daily specials as well. Our waitress was prompt and really quite lovely. She helped my friend decide on a dish and answered any other questions that we had. I would highly recommend her! We ended up ordering the dip sticks for an appetizer and I had the chowder and half chicken parm sandwich as my meal. The complimentary bread we had was incredible. Crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside with a dusting of Parmesan on cheese. And they were warm too! The bread was served with a whipped butter that wasn't even necessary but still a welcome addition. The dip stick sauces were excellent- I enjoyed the Indian inspired sauce the most but was also blown away by the pesto. The chowder was fantastic. Nice and creamy with a little bit of bacon on top for Smokey-ness. The chicken parm sandwich was nice and crispy with their great bread and even included an extra layer of pesto which I really enjoyed. I'm not a huge fan of too much marinara but this was the perfect amount and they even had extra on the side. If you need a quick but delicious bite to eat I highly recommend stopping by t-bones!

Thanks to some help from yelp and my dads love of steak, T-Bones Great American Eatery was the clear cut choice for dinner and where we headed. This place is absolutely massive and gave me such New England restaurant vibes, with lots of wood, tacky decorations, and big signss absolutely everywhere. The place was very busy on this Saturday night and they definitely seemed understaffed, we waited to check in and get a table for about 12 minutes before anyone came up to the front, but hey, busy nights happen. The menu here was huge and featured almost everything you could want from an American style steakhouse from appetizers and deserts to sandwiches and steaks. I ate a lot of food here, so let's just talk about what I personally ordered and ate. Boneless Buffalo Chicken- This was truly a unique batch of buffalo wings. The breading on these were corn flakes and thats certainly not something I've experienced before, but the corn flakes mixed with Buffalo sauce made for some really freaking good boneless wings. French Onion Soup- Nothing special here, but it was both hot and tasted good, so thumbs up on this. Mashed Potatoes- Standard mashed potatoes paired with the steak, ain't nothing at all wrong with that. T Bone- When you go to a place called T-Bones, you order the 25oz T-Bone. This big, tasty, medium rare, slab of beef had so much flavour and was absolutely fantastic. After four years of eating at expensive steakhouses in Las Vegas, I come to a place like this and they are serving the exact same steaks here for $39.99 and that's something I can truly get behind. The only real complaint with the main course was that I also chose French Fries as a side dish and they forget to every bring it to the table, but since I was extremely full anyway, I didn't bother to bring it up. Overall, T-Bones Great American Eatery was a fantastic choice for dinner and somewhere I can definitely see coming back to on future trips to New Hampshire. I miss places like this from New England and I truly enjoyed every aspect of the T-Bones experience, as did my parents. Hungry? You know where to go!

Even though the restaurant was extremely busy, she managed to be both attentive and genuinely warm the entire time.
