I was in Manchester for a dance competition with my daughter and granddaughter this weekend and decided on takeout for dinner. I really wanted fish but being from the Boston area I hesitate to order when I'm away especially if I'm not right on the ocean. Anyhow I decided to give this place a try. I ordered the haddock sandwich and the mussels appetizer to go back to the hotel. I can't think of one thing that didn't impress me. First the sandwich, HUGE, fresh, nicely fried piece of haddock packaged beautifully on a bed of lettuce with a nice wedge of lemon; brioche bun lightly toasted and buttered bagged separately; tarter sauce and coleslaw (loved the coleslaw!) on the side. This came with a side ( I chose sweet potato fries). The mussels appetizer, delicious, fresh and enough for a meal for my daughter and I! The broth was so good we could drink it out of the bowl,but we were lucky enough to have a nice bag of toasted bread served with them to sop it up with. All this for under $40! I also have to mention the waitstaff was super attentive and helpful even though it was Friday night and there was a lot going on. That kind of professionalism did not go unnoticed. Okay so I came here on a graduation night with no reservation on a hope and a prayer... I'm assuming the owner was the lady who came to tell me it was reservation only and there was nothing they could do. I was heart broken but it was my own undoing as I djdnt make a reservation. Just as I was opening yelp to find another place to try she came and got me from outside as a spot opened up! That's service! And I won't forget it. All the staff was very kind and she checked in with me several times during my meal to make sure it was going well. The ambiance is a little noisy but it's a raw bar that has sports on. The food is delicious. I could have eaten the Cippino forever! The broth was a complex delicious and perfectly spiced tomato base. The seafood was plentiful and large sized. I have never seen shrimp so big! I also ate oysters and had an amazing home made peaches and cream cheese cake. Listen I don't really like cheese cake but I could eat that cake everyday for the rest of my life. Everything from start to finish once I sat down. Was delicious and the staff was very kind. Very disappointing experience from start to finish. The service was extremely slow and poorly organized. Staff appeared uninterested and inattentive, and we had to repeatedly ask for basic items. The food did not justify the prices at all. The seafood was overcooked, lacked flavor, and did not taste fresh. Portions were small for what you pay, and the presentation was careless. Overall, this restaurant is overrated and did not live up to expectations. I was in New England and wanted a lobster roll, and this was one of the only places in town that had one! The guy at the hotel front desk recommended this place and I was glad I asked him! Service was amazing with a very attentive, personable waitress who was delivering delicious drinks with lightning speed. They were pretty busy too! I had an adult iced coffee drink to get the night started with a pick-me-up, then a Cadillac Margarita to go with the delicious buttery garlicy wings, and finally the Nor'easter which is their take on a Dark N Stormy... Now onto that lobster roll... This was a great lobster roll. I like the warm/buttery kind and the toasted but was stuffed with lobster and not too much butter. I didn't need a bath afterwards is what I'm saying. I got chips instead of fries (they fries looked like steak fries which aren't my favorite) and it was a great meal! Stopped into Hooked Seafood Restaurant before going to a show at The Palace Theater which is literally right next door. The set-up is interesting because it is connected/affiliated with Ignite Bar & Grill. They are 2 separate restaurants, but they share menus. And, you need to see the hostess at Ignite to get seated at Hooked. Having said that, my friend and I really enjoyed our dining experience. We sat at the bar because we didn't make reservations which we will do next time. I would recommend doing that, especially on show days/nights. It was so difficult to make a choice because there were so many items that were appealing. Anyway, I ordered the Pan Seared Sea Scallops on the recommendation of Marisa, our server/bartender. It came with house made vegetable risotto that was chuck full of vegetables. The scallops were the best I've ever had. The portion size was perfect and I'm not ashamed to say I ate the whole thing. Jennie got the Seafood Mixed Grille-she had no complaints. Marissa was friendly and helpful. There is a full bar. Bathrooms are spotless. I honestly have no idea how this place is rated the top seafood restaurant in NH. If you come here expecting a great seafood selection, you will be incredibly disappointed. Their menu has barely any seafood options and the quality of what they actually served was sub par at best. The restaurant totally lacked atmosphere and the service was poor. The waitress was incredibly hostile. The restaurant hours weren't as advertised, and when we politely pointed that out, she immediately became argumentative and angry. Needless to say I would never go back there or recommend it to anyone. Calling this the "top" seafood spot in the state is a complete joke. Small place. Only high top tables. Welcomed right away by very friendly waiter. I had the Cioppino which was maybe the best I've ever had and I've eaten it where it was created. A little spicy, but perfect for me. The fish was all done to perfection and even the toast points were yummy. My son had a special swordfish dish even better than my Cioppino. Every bite was great. Wonderful dinner at Ignite Bar and Grille in Manchester on Monday. We had a great window seat which was almost like sitting on the sidewalk but safe from bees. Service was lovely, and all of our drinks and food were delicious. I had the Spicy Paloma, and the steak nachos appetizer. For dinner I had a nightly special which was baked cod topped with two jumbo grilled shrimp, over a bed of rice pilaf and baby spinach, and all smothered with Cajun cream sauce. Yum! Got a takeout order and was happy with the order. I got the British Fish and chips (haddock) and the coconut shrimp appetizer. This place made me very sad.... Sad because it was so great but being I live nowhere near here I don't know if or when I'll have the chance to return. I was in town for my graduation and being the seafood lover I am my husband took me here for lunch. Graduation weekend means pretty darn busy but we were seated fairly quickly. The server and hostess were very friendly. The food was a little bit of a wait but considering how busy they were it was reasonable. In the meantime the drinks were speedy from the bar and mixed well... not watered down or too strong, just right. The lobster roll was mine and just how I like a good roll, big meaty chunks! I ordered the lobster mac and cheese - generous lobster pieces but I didn't love the actual pasta / cheese sauce. Sorry- I know people love it but it was just ok and didn't have much flavor. And each one lent me all the superlatives I want to utilize in this review from a discussion on the staff's efficacy to the solid lineup of food top-to-bottom to the quality of drinks to their amazement of the owners efforts to keep this place going during Covid. I had 30 food recommendations from my fellow consumers but decided to go with the swordfish. The menu described it as a swordfish with lobster and avocado yet somehow they couldn't convey the awesomeness that is this dish in print because... well, it's wordless. Look at the picture and let that talk because this dish was special! The staff is attentive, spirited and interesting. I was blessed with the spunky Lauren who delighted me with her sparkling smile and fantastic drink making abilities. I had a regular next to me into his second espresso martini who has been coming here for a very long time. A couple to my left ordering every food item known to man. The drinks? Well, I knew I was amongst regulars when I spied an entire bar of manhattans communally chatting about whatever. I had a Manhattan and an Old Fashioned - both splendid and well made. Only had a chance to eat here once, and was admittedly apprehensive to get seafood in Manchester, NH while visiting, but I was very glad I stopped. They managed to find me a table quickly on a fairly busy Sunday night (though I stopped by slightly before the rush, just in case), and were very courteous and polite. I ended up picking a menu item in my mind and then getting quickly convinced to get one of the specials based on the description, which was stuffed fish with scallops, shrimp and lobster. It was DELICIOUS, and although it was a bit pricey, the price seemed well justified in light of the types and quantities of the ingredients. Each piece was cooked delicately, particularly the scallops and lobster. Soft and tender. The flavor of the overall dish was great as well. Very nice indeed. They open at 2 and so we popped in for an early dinner. Took ten minutes for anyone to come over; I suspect that although open they weren't really "open" yet. A couple of the folks at the bar told us it wasn't completely deserted so we waited. Eventually it segued into a real opening. A very pleasant waitress brought menus and the specials of the day. Decided on Cioppino, Haddock Piccata and some wine. The prices were surprising given the quality. $22 for the Haddock was far below what it would have cost in our fav West Coast fish place. The fish was moist and flavorful and the assorted herbs, onions, peppers, feta, etc worked well together. The Cioppino? A lightly spicy tomato broth filled with a variety of seafood. They describe the shrimp as colossal and they were. More like midget lobsters. The included bread was just the right amount to accompany the food. Judging from the pace over time I'd guess it's more of an evening place. Noise level kind of nominal. The neighborhood was okay, not great but nothing too off-putting.
