The customer service at this Claire's was absolutely awful. I brought my 15-month-old daughter in to get her ears pierced, and from the moment we arrived, the experience was uncomfortable. When we first walked in, the store gate was half open. My daughter naturally tried to crawl under it, and I immediately grabbed her before she could. Instead of calmly addressing the situation, one of the employees came over and aggressively slammed the gate shut, which felt unnecessary and rude. Another employee--who was very kind--helped us start the paperwork for the piercing. However, once we sat down for the actual piercing, the situation went downhill again. My daughter noticed two empty alcohol swab wrappers on the table next to the chair and reached for them, as toddlers do. The employee began yelling at my 15-month-old over empty wrappers, which was completely inappropriate. She's a baby, not a preschooler. While marking my daughter's ears, the employee managed to get one side correct but struggled with the other because my daughter kept moving--again, very normal for a toddler. Throughout this, she was loudly huffing, puffing, and repeatedly saying "oh my god" in my ear, clearly annoyed. Her negative attitude made the entire experience stressful and uncomfortable. This is a kids' store, and ear piercings involve children--often very young ones. If patience isn't something you have, this is not the job for you. I left feeling upset and disappointed, and I would not recommend this location to other parents. read more

I'm a first time mom and I pierced my four month old baby's ears at Claire's. When I tell you that Mary was the best experience there you better believe it. Mary was sweet, kind, patient and she answered every question I had ready as a first time mom. She's told me she's done multiple babies and handles the overall experience with quality and professionalism. She changed the markings multiple times and I have to give it to her because I'm an OCD mom and I know it can be difficult to deal with sometimes. We had the BEST experience here! We came in on a snowy Monday to get my 6 year old daughter's ears pierced. She's been wanting it done for months but has been too afraid until now. The young man who helped us (I think his name was Aspen, so sorry if I got that wrong!) was so sweet, so helpful, and really efficient when it came to actually getting the job done. Yes, it definitely hurt more than she thought it would, but Aspen was great about calming her down and making sure she was ok. I don't know what the going price for piercings is, but it came out to $80 with the gold earrings included. It seemed like a fair price to me, and we got 20% off anything we wanted afterwards, so that was fun too! In general, I've always loved Claire's for their selection, awesome sales, and great staff, but this last experience just sent it over the top. We will definitely be back! read more

My daughter received two identical backpacks for Christmas purchased at Claire's. She loved her backpack and decided to exchange one out. Unfortunately we did not have the receipt as it was a gift and they weren't provided. We went into Claire's at the mall and asked if we could exchange it out for something else. The young lady that helped us stated that they aren't allowed to return or exchange without a receipt. I showed her that the website stated that we can exchange or return but will get the current sale value. I was ok with this. She didn't have the best attitude. She called her manager and her manager told her that it's ok to exchange it but only for half the value. The backpack costed $35 and that was the current price. I was not asking for money back I just wanted my daughter to choose something of similar value. The young lady told her boss I didn't understand and that she needed to explain it to me again. To which I answered I did understand but didn't understand why they were not honoring what the website stated. Her answer was that the decision to not give me sale value was hers and that they don't go by what the website says. Basically telling me that they make their own rules ignoring what the corporate rules are. I was super upset but stayed quiet and left. It just doesn't make sense why they think they can make their own rules. I went to Claire's at legends and that was a whole different story and experience. The girls there were super nice and returned it, placed the refund amount On a Claire's gift card and then allowed my daughter to buy whatever and use that gift card to cover the balance. went to get my baby's ears pierced yesterday. we waited in line patiently as we waited our turn. ahead of us we're two groups that we're both getting their children's ears pierced. everyone was permitted to stand in front of their kid while their ears were being pierced. the group directly before us had about five kids who were taking photos and standing very close to the piercer. when my turn came, i was made to wait off the the side behind a glass. i was unable to see the piercing or be involved with my kid getting her ears pierced!!! it amazed me how i was treated differently than the white patrons who were given free range to be part of their baby getting their ears pierced, but i was made to stand away. i was treated differently due to the color of my skin at this Claire's store. it's 2021 and as a black person you still can't help but notice the difference in treatment. my daughter loved that store, it was her first time. we won't be returning. go elsewhere black people, they don't value our business. read more

Claire's has always reminded me of a Toys 'R' Us jewelry store for girls, and this time was no different. Immediately upon walking in, the visitor is fronted with rows and rows of silver-colored costume jewelry and charms, most of which is obviously cheap quality and meant for the younger girl/teenager who doesn't have a lot to spend, but wants to look and feel pretty. They have expanded their product line to stuffed animals and cell phone cases, which I guess speaks to the fact that younger kids are now packed to the hilt with the latest in cell phone technology, but aside from that, not much has changed since 10 years ago. This might be a place to go if you have younger female children or if you are a younger girl, but aside from looking at cheap jewelry, there's not much else to do at this store, and it doesn't have much appeal for any other type of audience. read more

It's your standard girly accessory store, featuring earrings, hair styling goodies, and other various trinkets. They also do ear piercing which I swear my daughter isn't getting until she is 10. I was trying to kill time so I stepped in here to see what was new. The store was clean and well organized, and not crowded (big plus, I can't stand being packed in like a sardine). The two girls working were friendly and politely asked if I needed anything to let them know. I was there just killing time but I did find a couple of flowers for my hair and a new keychain. Upon checking out, one of the girls informed me of a buy 3, get 3 free sale they have going on! Score! They were were patient and did not rush me. This is not a store I shop at all the time but if you have a younger girl, they would love it! I don't know any girl who doesn't like "hair pretties" and accessories. A lady, who had guardianship of her granddaughter (?) wanted to get the granddaughter's ears pierced without proof of guardianship. When they nicely told her that they needed the proper paperwork as part of the rules, the lady snapped on them with the most VULGAR language ever. It took me a year to write this post but I'll never forget my experience at this store so I must write this! We went in on a Saturday. Really busy!! My daughter 3 months, was getting her ears pierced. The manager was the one doing it. We had a huge exaggerated crowed circling us and which was uncomfortable and manager wouldn't say anything to those people. We lasted about 1 hour in there do to manager assisting my daughter and others at the store. Unacceptable for 3 month old. We were never a priority. Service was terrible! My grandmother took my sisters and I to Claires to get our second piercing. Then a lady takes us to the second register, she asks my grandmother if she was my legal guardian. My grandma replies "yes". Then she starts asking for "proof" that she is my legal guardian. My grandma pulls out our medical IDs, social security cards, and ETC. The lady said that is not enough! My grandma replies I do not bring them with me. The lady refused service to us even though my grandma showed her proof! But that was not the part that made me angry. It was because the people before us went to the lady that refused service to us went, without the lady asking for any Proof because they were younger that my Grandma! that is age discrimination. I've gone into Claire's for little trinkets (headbands, etc.) over the years, but stopped in to get my daughter's ears pierced. The piercing station was near the front so we waited in what we thought was a line, ignored by the two other employees until we inquired about the process. The first red flag was their condescension in instructing us to where we would make the order and how there was a line. The second red flag was their case of piercing earrings: none were priced in the case and the associate made a strong push for a set of gold earrings on the top row of the case (no mention of price) and warning us of infection with we didn't go with gold. The final straw was when we asked prices. We were floored; the cheapest non-goldplate earrings (the 'dangerous' ones) were almost $40 (the piercing is "free" with the purchase). The ones pushed by the associate (right in front of an impressionable kid) were around $100. I don't like pushy upsellers (and particularly LOATHE ones who prey on children) so we politely said we'd discuss it. On the way out we heard the piercing associate trying to get the piercing customer to upgrade to a large (20 oz or so) bottle of cleaning solution. Either Claire's trains their associates to get ever penny they can, the associates work on commission, or they are just unethical people (or several of the above). We found clearly priced gold plate earrings cheaper at another spot in the mall, and without any wait or pushy upsell bullshit. read more

Came here to get my daughter's ears pierced. When we entered the store we were immediately greeted by Jasmine who was very friendly and accommodating and helping us pick out earrings. She explained the pricing and how the process works. She had excellent customer service skills. We decided on some earrings and the next thing you know I was signing a release form and my daughter was sitting in the chair ready to get her ears pierced. Jasmine was extra careful to make sure that she had marked the dots exactly center on my daughter's ears. She also made sure that my daughter was comfortable and not frightened. When she was ready to go she called Delaney over to help so that they could each pierce an ear at the same time so my sweet little princess experienced the least amount of pain and discomfort possible. My daughter didn't cry or anything. These ladies made it an exciting and fun experience for my daughter. They even gave us a 20% off coupon to use in the store when we were done! When you are going to go to Meadowood Mall to get your child's ears pierced, walk right past that crappy Piercing Pagoda where are the girls who work there have no customer service skills whatsoever, and go straight to Claire's Boutique where they will treat you and your child with kindness and respect. read more

My 11 year old daughter saw a pig in the window that she wanted to buy for my toddler. I said sure and stood outside talking with my mom while my daughter walked in to purchase ONE item. After about five minutes she still wasn't back so we stepped inside to check her. She was at the register and the check out girl was piling other stuff onto the pig. A line of disgruntled customers had formed behind her. I asked my daughter what was going on and she said that the lady kept telling her that she had to buy extra stuff if she wanted the pig. I asked the cashier and she told me that she was just explaining to my daughter that the pig had to be purchased with either an ear piecing or a pair of earrings but that it was ok because they could just substitute small items until they hit the value that qualified for the pig. I asked my daughter if she had picked out the other stuff and she said no the girl had just piled it on without asking and she was trying to tell her never mind. The girl interrupted and said she was just showing her different things she could buy. I asked if we could just get the pig and the cashier told me not unless we spend 20$. We just left and went to get a pig at one of the other toy stores in the mall. I have never been so confused in my life. We have to spend 20$ in order to buy a 10$ stuffed pig? With no tag or note anywhere on the pig to indicate that information? I am disappointed that this store seems to want to take advantage of customers and exploit children. If teens/kids are shopping alone do the associates habitually upsell/bully them and force them to spend all of their money? Very sketchy experience. read more

Just got my daughter's ears pierced. Everything with the piercing was fine, but the girl who pierced them told us it was $40 total with the earings we chose, but I was rung up for $61 plus tax. I complained but they made no effort to make it right. I had already waited on line for 10-15 min, so I just paid and got out of there. read more

We got my daughter's ears pierced here recently! Clare's is not a store I ever go into but I know of many parents, who have had their kids ears pierced at either our local location or another one. The sales associates were very nice. As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted and assisted. We signed the consent forms to get my daughter's ears done and the associate, helping us, was more than patient as we picked out earrings and waited for my daughter's Aunt to show up. The piercings themselves were quick and easy. She cleaned her ears, marked them, checked to see if we liked her markings and then a few seconds later, she was done. We cleaned her ears again and she was very thorough as she explained to us the at-home care process. I thought both associates were friendly, polite and professional! I would recommend them to someone looking to get their kids' ears pierced or a cute place to take their tweens shopping. read more

I just went with my mother to take my three nieces to get their ears pierced at Claire's in Meadowood Mall. My mother who is their legal guardian was refused service because she didn't have paperwork proving it. Even though she had their social security cards their medical cards Etc she did not have papers saying she was the guardian. However we watched several people go before us to get their ears pierced who we're under age and they had someone with them who were never asked for any form of proof that they were guardians or parents. It appears to be a blatant case of age discrimination and Claire's should be ashamed of themselves. The young blonde working there should be terminated for being rude. For a Hospitality based business they have a lot to be desired. I would give them no stars is there was a choice. But the one thing I can do is write a review on their service and we will never ever go to that store again. I just got my daughter's ears pierced here, where they put one earring in and then realized they did not have a match. There was only one twenty-something girl and she asked me to come back so she could have some time to search for a matching earring in the back. We returned an hour and a half later, when there was a second woman there to help her. The first woman directed me to the second woman who acknowledged us and led us to the piercing chair and then . . . ignored us for 30 minutes while she helped other customers in the store, even those who entered after us, the second time. My daughter was a wreck because it was her birthday and she only had one ear done, and they weren't making much of an effort to finish the job (after we had already paid, of course). So I finally spoke up and, well, cleared out the store. My daughter's ears are pierced, we have a free second set of earrings, and we will never set foot near another Claire's as long as we live. read more
