I've been living here since May 2022. The property management team runs a tight ship and the units are clean and the landscaping impeccable. The maintenance team is very responsive with any issues that come up. The lease renewal is very easy to do online. The gated carport is has cameras and I feel confident that my car is safe. Alea, Courtney and Ray all really have the best service when it comes to apartment hunting. They also answer e phone and have someone in the office. Never written a review before, Just lots of homeless people. They block the parking lot in the evenings at times and enter the 4701 building and you have to wait for them to finish their turn at dice throwing or move their shopping cart for you to go through. Had one homeless guy ask me and my wife for money at are front door inside the complex.They bring their carts in and stuff. Ive brought it up to staff and they express concern but dont seem to do anything. If they could see this and hire security it would be appreciated. Nice thing about the place is, is the maintenance staff is pretty quick and painless. But i dont think ill re sign my lease. besides the homeless inside the complex, not bad but also not good. just dont pay too much for what it is. Lots of kids playing here which some people complain about but I think its a good sign of a place to live, take that information as you want. I've been waiting to be able to review this place. Finally got my security despot back(or what's left of it) and now I think it's time to relay the experience I had while living in this place for 37 days. On day 2 on living here I was attacked on the street(police report filed and video evidence from Clair dels leasing office cameras to prove the event). After that incident my boyfriend and I knew this complex was not safe. We told the manager of the complex and the staff seemed to think it sounded normal for this area... Not only did we have to jump through hoops just to get the security footage of the event. After that the leasing office manager, Danny, was doing everything in his power to not let us out of our lease even with this event in mind. We were given no options other than to pay rent until another tenant moves in. Which we took given we were desperate to get far away from this place. In lieu of keeping this review short, do you research before renting from this place. Look at the other negative reviews. We should have prior to renting from this awful place. This whole complex should be low income housing not "luxury apartments". Be very careful of this area and the parking situation. There are much nicer, safer and better places in Long Beach. I have really been thinking about this review for a while. I knew when we left I had to warn someone, anyone, about these people, this place and the damage it has done to us. Now, when we got married, we moved to 4701 and it has been the worst almost 2 years of my life. 4701 is the bigger building in the back, home to many many unsupervised children, dogs and homeless people. Even thought the complex is "gated", people still get in. It clearly says on signs posted that trespassers will be prosecuted: they won't. I called about someone once to front office and was told "he's harmless" by Teresa. Okay. When we went on vacation and I had a friend come over to feed our animals, being the responsible tenant and pet owner I wanted to notify the leasing office. But when I called the front office to notify them I was told that NOBODY WAS ALLOWED ON PROPERTY EXCEPT FOR RESIDENTS BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO BE ON THE LEASE. But this trespasser? He's fine. There was a break-in at the cemetery next door, where a couple of criminals hopped the fence and stole some copper pipes. They used my husbands car as a ladder to climb up, beak the fence and steal the pipes. In the process they damaged the car by smashing the headlight and water sprayed everywhere, like a geyser all over cars. NO ONE TOLD US ANYTHING. Homeless individuals poop next to those cars along the fence: which I found out myself one morning as I watched a man go into between the cars, pull down his pants and squat down. Hope you like the smell of marijuana in your apartment, we'll start there. This not a non-smoking complex and there are many, many smokers. If you have asthma, or allergies, really consider this because you cannot escape it. Even with your windows and doors closed, if one of your neighbors next to you smokes, it will end up in your apartment. We called and emailed the leasing office multiple times about this, and they did contact the tenants and they stopped for a couple of days. If you think this is an isolated area or situation, it's not. The whole complex has smokers like this scattered around the buildings: you're not free of smoke anywhere. If you have more than one car or plan on ever having family, friends visit you. Parking is a nightmare. There is never street parking available. Let me repeat that THERE IS NEVER STREET PARKING AVAILABLE. They will tell you there is street parking, but they know very well it's not REALLY an option, so don't rely on it. You get one spot and if you want another, you must be placed on a waitlist and pay extra for a second spot. Our locked mailbox was broken into, someone shoved a key or something similar and popped it open. Luckily, there was nothing in there and the post person was smart and didn't put anything in There. I have two very loving and friendly cats and I couldn't figure out why they were hiding under the bed every time I came home. I had a suspicion, so I placed a camera in the front windows. What I saw was that when my cats were in the windows, the children of the complex would harass them by pretending to hit them, hit the window to scare them or throw things at the window. We paid a deposit and monthly cat rent for our cats to live with us. We immediately notified the front office and they said they would talk to the residents. And it would stop for a few days but then it would happen all over again. This went on for months. Every time it happened, we contacted the office. This isn't the offices fault, but the neighbors: they don't care about their neighbors, they do not control their children, and they will not keep on eye on them when they are outside playing. We had a huge issue with children playing right in front of our window were the ball hit our window on multiple occasions, we were concerned that they would break the window. The absolute last straw was the mold that ruined my wedding dress. During the rain, our patio door/window in the bedroom would always leak: the floors were soaked and we had to place bowls down to catch the water coming inside. And we called every time, and they sent someone out to patch up cracks in the stucco outside. This happened at least 4 times. We had NO IDEA the water was leaking into the closet, we discovered the wall in the closet was WET AND MOLDY. And my dress was in the closet against that wall. The dress was moldy and discolored, I was devastated. Absolutely devastated. I called the front office and they offered to send someone down to "wipe the wall down". ABSOLUTELY NOT. My husband works with mold and water damage for a living, and it is NEVER OKAY to just wipe down mold. My dress was ruined, I had no choice but to depose of it. That was the last straw. I had developed so much stress and anxiety from living here that I couldn't take it anymore and as soon as I found a better apartment, we left. They charged us a lease break fee and as additional "screw you", and we paid it because I could not deal with this nightmare anymore. read more

We were referred here by Corey from Bixby Knolls apartment (since they only had 2 bdrm apts and the Mr. wanted a.1 bdrm.) This is their sister complex. The Mr. called and we drove right over. We were immediately greeted by Danny (Corey called about something and he let him know where were here n he said "Hi!") Even though Danny had a face mask on n was behind plexiglass u could see his genuine smile. He is polite and knowledgeable of the complexes amenities (workout center, pool, onsite laundry) tenants and he let us know some of the new upgrades that will be in the works in the next year or so. He knows what he's talking about. His personality shines through while he helps explains and goes through all the paperwork (everything is done online on an Ipad, credit and background checks and all the bells and whistles. They are lucky to have such a great guy with A++ customer service working for them. He showed us the apartment and it was nicely staged. Super clean (u can still see the vacuum marks in the bedroom carpet.) It also comes with a backyard/patio and the apartment itself is spacious. Hopefully the Mr. gets approved and he gets to call this place home. We absolutely love living here! A friend referred us here and after some time it was finally time to write a review. The apartment is always clean and well-maintained, which is a huge plus for us. The office team is super friendly and professional, they always go above and beyond to help us out. Plus, being next to multiple grocery stores and close to the 405 and 710 freeways makes life so convenient. Nothing is perfect but the team does their best. Do yourself a favor, turn away from place and go somewhere else. I have never in my life lived in such an awful place in my life. Cockroaches, smells like weed all of the time, children unsupervised playing everywhere (leaving trash), smell of dog poo/pee everywhere, loud music, neighbors fighting, etc. Is that what you call luxury apartments? I couldn't even open the windows to get fresh air because it either smelled like weed, cigarettes, or dog poo. I couldn't even enjoy peace and quiet with children running everywhere and the loud music. Kids also leave trash on our front door and back patio area, it was ridiculous. I understand children need to play, but these kids played aggressively and we're not safe. Even biking in the parking lot and climbing at the edge of stairs outsides the rails and on the mailboxes, so dangerous. I also felt disgusted living among cockroaches. My husband and I did everything we could to put poison everywhere. We told the office, and all they did was just offer pest control to put poison. But this place needed to be fumigated. Apparently we were the only people complaining about roaches, which is hard to believe with the number of reviews naming the same issues. Office staff were nice, but the residents here are awful. I'd wake up at 2am at neighbors either fighting or doing intimate deeds. I would record and take pictures to show it to the office, but nothing changed. It seems that's the culture of this place. Not to mention parking is a nightmare. Also, a homeless man is always outside "washing cars". People drinking and playing dice outside. It feels super unsafe. Another homeless man was sleeping in the storage next to my parking space. I never felt safe here. We left as soon as we could. Moving was made extra difficult since we had to thoroughly inspect everything to make sure we weren't taking anything roach infested. We are at a new place and we are so much happier. Where do I start? Let' see, property management went from bad in 2020 to worse in 2023. They know about the homeless guy selling drugs inside and outside of the complex yet do nothing about it. Homeless people wonder around complex snooping around and trying to break into your storage area with no consequences from property management. Grounds are OK minus the dog's poop all over the sidewalk which by the ways stays there for weeks or when it rains. Amenities are by no way luxury equipment. How can they be? they have not been opened for about a year, yet we pay for those amenities. Parking outside is out of control. People double park overnight and at times we have a group of men blocking the entrance just to hang around. Has property management done anything about it? Of course not! Level of noise is also out of control and we, the people that are productive members of society pay for price as the children go on screaming and yelling turning this into a difficult place to work when working from home. The complex is so bad that the city had to come down and cite them for all of the violations they found. While I can go on and on about this complex all I can tell you is that this complex IS NOT LUXURY by any means. Property management is horrible and once you sign your lease, they will just ignore you. If you really would like to see reality, do not schedule a tour in the morning, schedule after 5pm then and only then you will see the reality and ugliness of this place. I don't know where to start with this complex. I lived at 4701. General issues are screaming children at all hours of the night, homeless people in the complex, police issues, no parking, dangerous area, trash left around the complex, illegal trash dumping (which you pay for) and poor management. Be prepared to see the children here constantly using profanity and hitting each other every day. I personally witnessed a older child physically beating a smaller child with fists right outside my front door. They also abuse animals by dragging them around at hitting them. Truly sickening. Multiple times a day a homeless person walks in the complex like he has a key to the gate. You will catch him walking around all all times of the day. He even runs a illegal business on the street of cleaning peoples cars and other "extracurricular" activities. The worst part of all this is that the management and management company (RW Shelby) do nothing about these issues and things never change. They were extremely hard to work with and even tried to take security deposit. RW Shelby especially has no respect for tenants and I assume based on my interactions with them that they look at tenants as money makers rather than people. There is no sense of safety at this place and there are constant issues with it. They say there are cameras in the parking lot and I had yet to find one. If you want friends to visit you need to have them park neighborhoods away (assuming no street sweeping) and pick them up. It is not safe to walk down the street at night. They have bars that come down over the leasing office at night for a reason. I have no idea how this complex has a single 5 star review, that has not been the experience I had. My husband and I lived in this apartment which has been a home for us for more than a year. Since then we have a positive experience with all of the staffs. This apartment has an amazing amenities too. They have pool, gym, laundry, secured gate & CCTV around, garage park and only just few miles away from malls, markets and more which is so convenient for us. It has a quiet neighboorhood and safe area to live. We also just want to give a shout out to an amazing community staffs & families of Clair Del Gardens. Danny the community manager who took care and assist us from the beginning did an amazing job, he help us move in so fast making sure we understand everything in contract. He has been very helpful to us and responds to all our concerns immediately. He is also friendly & nice which became our friend too. Jessica has been very nice to us too, she assist us in all our inquiries and concerns. She is doing a fantastic job! She's also friendly and easy to get along with. So I don't actually live here, but I did spend about two to three hours at Clair del Gardens Apartment looking for an apartment. I called on a Friday and was told by a woman that I could come in as early as 8AM to view an apartment I saw on Craigslist. I arrived at 9 and was let in by a man named Danny who was all smiles and very friendly. He answered all my questions with confidence and ease, and made me feel comfortable and relaxed. While we were chatting about the apartment area, several tenants walked through or by his office. He smiled at all of them and seemed to know every single one by name. He took me to go view an Apartment, and they were in the middle of re-doing the floor because the carpet had quite a bit of wear and tear and there were some stains. I really, really liked the floor plan of the apartment. It had a nice island area, a great bathroom, a nice new fridge, a lovely balcony/patio area for dogs to go outside, and a decently sized bedroom. Danny was very knowledgeable about the previous tenants and had all the move-in dates memorized. He was quick on the computer and pleasant to talk to. He also accommodated our pup, a small Yorkie, in his office. He let us play ball in there and also put out a plate of cold water for our dog and Toshi lapped that up dry! It was very thoughtful and nice of him. Overall, it was a great looking place. Green grass, nice pool, renovated gym with a yoga area, and BBQ pits. The tenants I talked to while I was there all said they loved living there. However, it was just too far from my BF's school and the parking on the street was kind of a downer. If that weren't the case, I'd move there in a heartbeat. Danny was so nice and friendly--he deserves all the stars for fabulous customer service. read more

DO NOTTT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THEM. I was told I got approved for a STUDIO apartment on my own with my credit score, put in my hold deposit that was said to be good for 2 weeks and brought it the next day upon their request. Mind you the girl who worked there had a nasty attitude with me once I brought my deposit in and the mood completely switched once I was interested and wanted to move forward. then I was denied to sign my lease on my own AFTER I WAS TOLD OTHERWISE and was told I would need a co-signer. I lost the price they originally quoted me with a free month off of rent because of this and then was told the hold was only good for two days by Cory. (Their prices raise everyday on units by a few dollars which I think is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. ONLY REASON I CONSIDERED WAS BECAUSE OF THE "MOVE IN SPECIAL") They need to really talk to each other in the office it was unacceptable how information kept switching between them. I got the co-signer and they wanted access to ALLLL of my co-signers finances, bank statements, checking and savings ALL OF IT. Why????? It's not a "luxury" apartment it doesn't even have an ac unit..far from luxury. I was then denied to even live there A WEEK before my lease was up (because of the refusal to give access to info that is NONE of their business) at my old apartment which they knew and I had to scramble to find a new place. Their management sucks and I didn't even need live there to figure that out. All in all they treated me like it was an inconvenience for me to want to live there. OH you wanna live at the Clair Dels, DONT!! To keep it "short", they treat tenants like trash. There is always dog poop everywhere and don't even get me started on the roaches (many pictures were taken). If you email them they "dont get the email" although once in a while they forget that LIE and respond to it. Water will get shut off on the entire complex WITHOUT warning and if you're in the shower, too bad. Utilities NEVER make sense, you are paying for everyones usage NOT just your own.Their form of communication is a paper on your door that we have seen blow away in the wind MANY times. Another thing is parking, people will park in your spot that you pay for! "It's a gated" community but so many break ins and they just tell people "sorry can't really do much", the past managers motorcycle was stolen from this gated community and he left. Also be careful letting your pet munch on the grass there, it is always sprayed with something terrible for them. Last but surely not least, you will NOT get half your deposit back, they make you pay for upgrades for the next tenant regardless of how well you leave the place. DO not trust them with a word they say and if you see a short small lady that works there avoid her even more (racist against certain colored tenants and rude). read more

I wish it could be 0... I am disappointed and disgusted with this company. I paid on time for 18 months... never late. Follow all rules and left the apartment nearly as clean as when I moved in. There were no damages to the property which I have dated photos to prove such yet I am disputing $860 of charges plus my $550 deposit. They felt it was their right to keep my deposit and charge me to put new carpet and paint which had normal wear and tear. Per their lease it needed to be damaged which it was not. They did not respond to numerous dispute letters. I have emails proving the I was locked in my apartment overnight due to a faulty door knob, my storage area was robbed and I was repeatedly disrespected by an employee that still works there. Theresa and Ashley are rude and disrespectful and have numerous complaints against them. I contacted R.W. Selby and they did nothing. This rental company is unprofessional, unreliable and very shady with employees who have no moral compass. Money over everything read more

Jessica and Danny have been extremely helpful and accommodating from the very beginning in making this complex feel more like a community. If there is ever an issue, maintenance is quick to fix it and even locks your door behind them. The whole process of moving out in your first apartment can be super stressful, but Mother Theresa here was very kind, attentive, and went above and beyond to help me. Disgusting! If you're looking to rent here - DON'T. We made the mistake of living here for a year. I lived in East Oakland a few years ago and felt safer coming home. Pros: Danny Cons: Ashley. Her words "I don't care who you are, you're just a number" showed how little respect and concern management had for us. We were also told to "Figure it out!" when we were displaced to have our place bombed for COCKROACHES because of our neighbors. Deposit - We left our apartment in good condition and were charged for everything. Painting, cleaning, cleaning refrigerator, carpet cleaning, etc. Do not expect to get your deposit back. You won't. We did a walkthrough when We first moved in and I pointed out that the apt had not been painted = they came in and spot painted, then charged us to paint the entire unit. COCKROACHES, Drug Dealers, Vandalized Cars, people Hopping Fences, Break Ins, Broken Windows, Bad/Poor Management, Old, Rundown Gym Equipment, $10 Laundry Card before you even put money to do your laundry, Rude Maintenance Staff.
