We live near Dallas and drive through Emory often. We are so glad we stopped at CK Kitchen in Emory. This will be the first of many visits because we found the entire experience to be wonderful!!! We were warmly greeted by the staff and seated in a clean and nicely decorated dining room. Our server (we found out later she and her husband, the chef, own CK Kitchen) was so kind. She patiently explained the different dishes to us as we were new and needed help choosing what to order. They use fresh homemade ingredients. They cook the vegetables to perfection so they are not soggy. They are crispy and full of flavor which compliments their seasonings. The food was amazing! It's rare to find an Asian restaurant in east Texas and it's a shame this one doesn't do a better job. The menu is very much hit or miss with a mixture of low-end pre-made items and some flavorful unique offerings. Hit: Wonton soup-- the lemon grass and fresh Thai basil make this broth probably the best of the menu. Miss: Signature Dishes--most of these are odd. They have familiar names, but the recipes are more of a fusion that ends up tasting "ok" but not exactly what you were looking for. Most of the sauces taste like they came from a jar. For an extra dollar, change the protein from chicken or tofu to shrimp. Except the shrimp are overly breaded and look suspiciously like they came from a SeaPak box (see photo). Hit: Chicken lettuce wraps. Great flavor and very good value. This plus a cup of wonton soup is a meal for $12. Skip the sushi (relatively new offering). Overpriced and the rice was unflavored and day-old. Arrived home to learn that wasabi is only included on request. Friendly staff at the counter but the kitchen needs some attention. read more

Just started serving breakfast and lunch. Extensive menu and some speciality items like eggs Benedict with multiple base ingredient options. Growing pains as they just switched up the menu but confident it will get better. Recommendations: have a server walk around with a hot coffee pot to keep the mugs refilled. It's breakfast time so that will be a hot item. Add some powdered sugar to the French toast for that nice little touch. Would be good to have a Sunday brunch place with bottomless mimosas and maybe a 7 item specialty menu. Cater to the church crowd. Maybe a 10-2 brunch. Could make it the go to place in Emory. I got the Migas with brisket and it was really good. The salsa has a good smoky heat to eat and the tortillas were nice and warm. The food and service were top notch in the tiny town of Emory, Texas. What a pleasant surprise. I highly recommend the teriyaki and orange chicken with fried rice. This small restaurant serves big flavors. We were in the mood for Chinese and decided to give this place a try. Being in a very small town we weren't expecting much but man were we floored. We ordered multiple items for a family style dinner and everything that came out was spot on. Fantastic flavors and generous portions. We had the Pad Thai chicken, KungPao chicken, Mongolian chicken, and shrimp fried rice. Everything tasted like a 5 star restaurant and we all walked away fat and happy. We also didn't get through all of our dishes so we left with to go boxes. I come to Lake Fork as much as I can so I will definitely be coming back here again and again and again. Food was good. I think they are still undecided what they want to be, a full service restaurant or a fast food Right now they are a little of both. Order and pay at the counter then someone brings your food to you. Most of the time the server was standing waiting for food. I would put her to work taking orders and collecting tips. Or eliminate that job and pickup your order at the window. Seems confusing as to what to do when you first walk in. Drinks were another problem I had. Bottle drinks only. No iced tea unless you like it sweet and in a bottle no glass no ice. I had water in a bottle, sam's club brand. I think they charge a $1 for bottle a rip because it's the cheapest water on the shelf. Food prices are just a tad high compared to like Wok Box prices. But it was good for Emory. But there is room for improvement especially in presentation. I had the Pad Thai, on top they always sprinkle cilantro on top. At this place they put the whole stem and leaves, so you get to pull the leaves off yourself. One slice of lime an important flavor ingredient in Pad Thai usually get two at like every restaurant I have every been to. Very light sprinkling of peanuts and the fish sauce was scant too. I think they could make a go in Emory where like most small Texas towns Mexican food is king. I think people would welcome the change. But get it right from the beginning! Iced tea! Presentation! Make up your mind what you want to be. But get Iced Tea the real stuff with ice and a cup. read more

I am so glad that Emory now has an Asian Restaurant. I have eaten here 3 times since it opened, and it does not disappoint. My favorite food is the Mongolian beef noodles. I always have to get a togo box to take the leftovers home. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because they have bottled drinks and I like to have ice in my drink. We stopped in today while passing thru Emory. CK's is the closest thing to authentic Asian Food in all of east Texas. The food is made with fresh ingredients and you get that nice smoky flavor that comes from wok cooking over open flame. Definitely try the fried rice, it is excellent. I had the Kung Pao chicken which was delicious, just a tad too salty for my taste. My wife had Mongolian beef that was just right. We also got some steamed dumplings to go. We absolutely love CK Chinese Kitchen! The food is delicious and fresh, portions are generous and the staff (family) is delightful! We enjoy it from the moment we walk in the door when we hear "welcome back, my friends". Spicy food is our favorite and "Mr. C" does a great job serving up just the right heat. We have several go-to favorites including Thai Blazing Noodles, Pad Thai, CK Special of the House and Kung Pao. Be sure to try the Crab cream cheese filled wonton appetizer. Food excellent because it was so fresh and seasoned perfectly. Having worked in Chinese restaurants myself I can tell that the owner shows true passion for his cooking. We had the egg rolls and lo mein, one with chicken one with shrimp. So good. Definitely recommend. The owners Mr C and Lupita were so warm and friendly. The sauces were home made and were so good that my wife and I actually drank the last of the sauce from the bowl, not a usual thing I do. Very below average, luckily they can take advantage of being the only Asian restaurant in town. Cheap ingredients and the "Thai" dishes are laughable and no where near authentic. Two visits so far to this amazing Asian Fusion restaurant in little old Emory, TX. Both times the food was outstanding and service was prompt and pleasant. Pricing is reasonable for high quality menu items prepared to order. Would recommend this business to anyone who enjoys good Asian food either as dine-in or carry out. Finally went back by there today and they were open. It's a simple little place and the staff is friendly, but what I paid for what I got was like getting ripped off. I see other reviews stating they got generous portions, but that's not even close to what I got. I ordered "to go", so maybe you get more in a "dine in" situation. In a small bowl 1.5 inches deep and about 6 inches across, more than half the bowl was filled with rice. The other half was mostly thin sliced carrots and zucchini with 4-5 small pieces of Kung Pao beef. No water chestnuts, bamboo shoots or traditional chinese vegetables. The bowl was $9.99 and two spring rolls brought the total to $16.54. That's INSANELY HIGH for what I got. Could've gone to the buffet in Sulphur Springs and got two FULL to go boxes for less than that. The food was above average in taste, but it's not good enough to pay that much for Chinese food again. Might you have noticed that most of the reviews have the same exact statements? Mango rice, booth's etc. And even the names of review contributors are similar. i.e. Lxiury? And do you notice that the reviews are not your typical customer review. Most seem to be selling the restaurant and not specifically talking about the food. And about the food at CK Kitchen in Emory Texas! There were three of us that night and we enjoyed the California Roll and the wanton and egg drop soups. But at the end of the meal none of us had eaten our entrees. The Fried Rice was drowned in what tasted like a very low-end safflower or similarly tasteless oil. It was un-edible - unless you need an oil change! The Lo Mein had a flavor that none of us had encountered before and everything was over salted. It tasted like the typical over use of MSG to replace real cooked-in flavor. But the most astounding thing was the woman, who we guessed was either owner or manager. She saw that we were not eating our food and made no attempt to see why. My wife would not let me say a word, and certainly not send the food back - all in all is was a waste of $65 and we won't be going back, nor will we be recommending it to anyone.
