I was making that scrunch face that usually happens when you have something really sweet or sour. My friend ordered a protein latte and it was.... interesting. I just one sip and it tasted like water and ?? Not coffee... no idea how to describe it. It was not good. The service this time around was very, VERY bland and off putting. I remember my friend asking questions and the cashier not feeling too enthusiastic about answering. After sitting down and getting set up to do some work, I would notice the girl would go back and forth between her phone & if someone walked in. she was making drinks super fast, even another customer had commented on it. My drink, the cucamelon, being sweet & all still had all the powder stuff on the bottom. My first sip was powder and water I almost choked on the powder. The drinks aren't great in my opinion. They're on the sweet side & the coffee tastes nothing like coffee even though I understand it's supposed to be a protein powder and whatnot. This place is ideal to get work done as it's never really busy. I would go after noon and if people came it was all to go orders. But very slow. I remember asking the girl what time they closed and she just kind of looked at me and said "7" and I swear she rolled her eyes or something it was such a weird interaction. But life goes on and I liked the quiet and empty space for studying. One restroom is in the back. There's ample seating for the size of the location. Public plaza parking. I reached out to Blue Bowl and gave them the opportunity to make this right, but they refused to rectify the mistake. Poor customer service is one thing, but failing to take responsibility after being given the chance to resolve the issue is even more disappointing. The toppings were fresh, though I wish the base was a bit more tart. I also redeemed my small smoothie birthday reward and got the Mango-a-Go-Go. It was made thick, just the way I like it. Some of my other favorite smoothies here are the Strawberry Surfrider and Caribbean Passion.

I was about 10 minutes away from this Jamba location when I placed my order in the app. As I was making my order, I noticed that when I requested ASAP pickup, the app estimated a 10 to 20 minute wait. Lo and behold, when I finally got around to submitting my order, the app then estimated a 5-minute wait! I had to book it to the Lakewood Jamba, stat! I had thought about ordering a $3.99 pretzel, which they offer two kinds: sweet and savory. However, if you order online or in the app, they charge a 3% service fee. I almost thought that since 3% of zero would be zero, a pretzel would still be free, but no, the service fee is 3% of the full price, not discounted price. Instead of spending just 12 cents for a pretzel since I already had one the previous day, I settled for a $4.49 Chicken Empanada. Actually, if you buy a second, the second would only be $2, but with the $4 off, one empanada would be the better buy over two. With a Chicken Empanada, you get the choice of a hot sauce, which I presume is inside the empanada since I didn't get a separate packet of hot sauce when I picked up my order, which was presented in a bag similar to the one for the Classic Handwich. I thought there would have been a designated area to pick up our orders as indicated in my email receipt, but I simply told the employee my name for pickup, and he went and fetched my Chicken Empanada for me. I sat at the same table I sat at in my initial review, and when I took the empanada out of the bag, I was astonished at how small it was! I included a photo with my hand for sizing reference, and no, my hand is *not* that big! lol it really was such a small empanada that there's no way I'd ever pay $4.49 (before tax, that is) for something that small! 50 cents plus tax and service fee? Sure, but ~$5 after tax?! N to the O way. But maybe it would taste amazing? N to the O way as well. The filling inside the empanada was quite minimal that I tasted more of the dough than the filling itself! The filling did have some flavor, but not as much compared to the dough, especially the folded edges. I'm not sure if the $4 off promo code could have been used more than once by the same rewards member, but even if it could have, I wouldn't want to place another order for another disappointing chicken empanada. Maybe that pretzel would have been better, but oh well, unless I get another discount on a food item, I don't think I'll bother.
