The boat is a 95' Lydia style fishing boat and the crew is small but active and eager to help. There seems to be less drinking on Walsh's trips then on the other fleets I have sailed with. This translates into a cooperative, kid-friendly crowd making it hard, sometimes, to tell who is crew and who is friendly fisherman. Their website is nice it has some good information about their company, but if you are interested in fishing YOU MUST CALL THEM for details about scheduling and pricing. Walsh fishes deeper then many of the other boats and carefully chooses his spots based on whats biting. Deep water often means larger fish but the reel-in can be long and painful so rest your arm before you go and have fun.

I made a reservation for 2 nights through the online form and never received a confirmation. When I called to check on it, they thought I was coming for 1 night. It all got squared away on the phone- then I sent an email reconfirming for 2 nights (it's not their practice to give written confirmation) I receive a note back that all was OK. Upon arrival we were escorted to our mooring. (no problem) the following morning while we were enjoying breakfast we felt a thud... it was the launch. She wanted to know if we were planning to stay another night (hello......) When we replied yes, she told us we needed to move (right away) as we were not on a transient mooring the customer whose mooring we were on was at the dock. I told her that we were placed on this mooring - she graciously apologized and said "mistakes happen" as I made my way up the damp deck in my pajamas and sock. That wasn't super impressive, but not unusual for the industry, so they still get a 3 star... sadly.
