Had a very enjoyable fishing charter with Captain Paul on the Obsessed boat. The boat is 20'ft long…read morejust the right size for the two of us & the captain. My brother-in-law was allowed to bring his own fly rod and gear. Captain Paul grew up helping his father with charters & now the two run the business together. Captain Paul, knew the area like the back of his hand which made me feel at ease with the thick fog we started the charter with. First half hour spent catching mackerel for bait. We only had to make one close stop, right on top of a school of mackerel. Every time we put our line down in the water came up with 1,2, or 3 mackerel. Captain Paul made it easy, taking the mackerel off our hooks & putting them in the bait box. No slimy, fishy hands. Next up was fishing for striper bass. Had a lot of action. I lost count how many fish we were able to land. Brother-in-law was even getting rapid strikes on his fly. Sometimes had both of us reeling in stripers at the same time. Once that area became quite back towards the wharf. Saw two basking sun fish, Mola Mola, what weird looking creatures. Captain Paul's knowledge was very informative. He would advise my brother-in-law when asked & even let him use some of his flies. Captain Paul's full time job during the off season, school teacher. Very apparent with his patience & willing to share his knowledge. Next we stopped over a huge school of pogies. Captain Paul said many times the large striper bass are below the school and on the outside rim of them. I had several bites but just not able to hook and land them. Then the four hours was up. Unfortunately, we did not catch any striper bass large enough to keep. To me it didn't matter, throughly enjoyed myself. I would highly recommend Obsessed Fishing Charter. Side note, two charter boats recently collided in the area we were in. The news didn't report that the large boat that rescued those from the small capsized boat, that the other large boat was one of their own in the collision. I won't give my negative opinion about theses large party boats. But I felt completely safe with Captain Paul on a smaller boat.

My wife and I booked a 6 hour inshore charter for striped bass…read more Captain Kevin and his first mate (Larz) worked hard to make sure we had a successful charter. The boat was clean and well equipped. Captain Kevin and his first mate gave clear and detailed instructions on how to catch the bait, cast in the right spot, and how to hook up when we got a bite. The first mate did a great job of cleaning and filleting our catch. They were especially patient with my wife, who struggled a bit with casting and hooking up with fish. (she ended up catching more than me and the biggest one that had to be released) Captain Kevin's instincts are spot on! He knew exactly when to move us to a new spot, so we never wasted time on the water. Additionally, Captain Kevin's recommendations for dining and local attractions were greatly appreciated. We highly recommend Connemara charter service to anyone looking for a successful fishing charter . Thank you Kevin for the great day out on the water!!

My wife and our 10yr old son were in RI for a hockey tournament and once it was over, we headed…read morestraight for Boston. On our first morning, we headed for Gloucester harbor to take in the rich history the town had to offer. We really wanted to see the iconic Wicked Tuna boats so we ate in harbor and waited but no return. Instead of coming down the next day to get pictures, I decided that we should try and fish this historic area. With only one day to plan a fishing trip and my flight leaving back to Cali at 6:30 was a task within it self. we were at dinner when Captain Kevin had called us back stating that it would not be an issue and he would have us back to the harbor by 2 PM. We left the harbor at 5 AM as captain Kevin in lighted us with a deep history and knowledge that he had to offer. His first mate was Tristan, who had recently passed the captains test, was very knowledgeable and was getting us set up for the perfect day. The captain knew everything in the harbor, and everyone. Whole fishing that day, the Captain constantly stayed on the radio to get up-to-date information. After we caught our bait, we headed to the first spot and dropped our lines in the water. After waiting about an hr or so the captain decided to make an executive decision and move to the second location because of the reports on the radio. Once we arrived at our second location and dropped our lines in the water, we immediately saw whale activity. We were trying to get some food in our belly while we had a little time and then BOOM, FISH ON!!! With the captains instructions from earlier, we were all able to communicate and successfully land this fish. With the help of Tristan by my side, and the captain on the controls, we were able to land this fish in an hour and a half. With 1/3 of the line left from being chaffed, we were able to land this bad boy in the boat. She came in at 87 inches and 461 pounds being my best record of all times. If it wasn't for both of these captains and my tuna fishing experience, we could've easily lost her. Upon returning to the harbor, and dropping her off at the market, I was able to keep some head fillets, and the tail and I was off to the airport. I have fished all around the world and if you want true tuna fishing at its best, GO ON THIS BOAT!!! They have giving us an experience of a lifetime and memories for the rest of our life's. Our family thanks you for the most memorable experience we've ever had fishing. CALL CAPTAIN KEVIN and CALL CAPTAIN TRISTAN!!!

First, the three of us in the trip were seniors and one had mobility difficulties that made getting in and out of the boat dufficult.. Capt. Dan found solutions and make accommodations that made it easy as possible. Thank you! Once in the boat, Capt.Dan quickly adapted to what we wanted to do. He clearly loves fishing and being on the water. He knows the area around Gloucester, near shore and out a ways so he could quickly adapt to sea conditions and ensure our best chances for catching fish. He let us set our level of involvement, whether just sitting back as he trolled, with rods in the holders, or holding the rod and actively fishing. He used both live bait (mackerel that we actually fished for) and trolling lures. On this trip we caught a couple of the biggest fish I've ever caught! A 32 inch bluefish that really put the word sport into sport fishing! And a 42 inch striper that easily weighed 30 pounds. Both were caught near shore in protected areas with minimal chop (one of our party surprisingly got seasick..a first for her and to which he adapted immediately). We even cast a couple of lines as we tied up at the dock and he cleaned our fish. We almost caught another striper! Like I said Captain Dan went above and beyond for our party, ensuring we had a great day on the water. He made us feel like family! I highly recommend this charter!

Great Sunday morning on the water with Captain Vito!…read more My girlfriend and I took her father out as a planned birthday present and, having grown up fishing and having been on a number of charters before, I was nervous about going out with someone I didn't know and wasn't necessarily recommended to me. But please listen to your friends on Yelp, book a charter, and have a fun time catching fish. We went out for stripers, so we had a go at catching mackerel in the morning to use as bait. It was slow for mackerel, I think we caught four, but it wasn't for lack of trying on Vito's part. He was on the radio all morning looking for hot spots and looking at the fish finder himself, all while we had three lines in the water. We got a few pollock later on as well. Most of the day was spent trolling the shore for what we came for and we hooked into around eight, landing two keepers. We'll be eating fish for the next month, but the best part was the company; Vito included. Vito has been fishing for 30 years (we asked) and you can tell he still loves what he does. Vito is instructive with the equipment to the point where you feel comfortable using something you hadn't seen before an hour ago (one of us hadn't been fishing before). Vito will work as hard as he has to in order to get you on fish and be happy doing it. We'll be back as soon as possible! Thanks again!
