I wanted a tattoo in Chinese calligraphy/brush stroke style, and CJ Tattoo is one of the few studios I found that specialize in these styles. This tattoo means a lot to me and I wanted it done right, and I fully entrusted CJ Tattoo and my artist, Kai, with this tattoo. Kai was very patient, gentle, thoughtful (he gave me and my partner water and snacks for the session), accommodating, and most importantly very skilled at his art. My tattoo came out amazing and very clean, with stunning brush stroke details. He was patient with me throughout the entire process even though I was pretty indecisive as this was my first tattoo, from working out the design, placement of my tattoo, choosing a color, and sizing (he printed out multiple sizes and worked with me to find the perfect size). I had an in-person consultation to discuss the design with him, and he worked hard to give me me multiple versions/edits later in the same evening, taking my requests into account but still providing professional and artistic recommendations from an artist point of view (which I absolutely needed). During the session, everything went smoothly and he made sure I was comfortable throughout. Kai was absolutely amazing in ALL ways. This was my first tattoo and it couldn't have been a more perfect experience. Other notes about the studio - the communication is top notch and very accommodating. I had to change the consultation/tattoo appointment a few times and they had no problems with it. The studio has very cute decor and is very clean and comfy/homey. They give you a little photoshoot of your tattoo at the end with professional lighting setup, of course provided aftercare instructions AND gave me some A&D ointment for healing. The price of my tattoo was also very very reasonable in this current economy. The staff were all very nice and helpful. I got my very first tattoo done by Moko at CJ Tattoo and I couldn't be happier with it. I didn't know what to expect but she made the process easy and it set me at ease as I got my tattoo. They have little snacks for you as you get your piece done and they have privacy screens to make you more comfortable. I travelled from Maryland to get this tattoo done specifically by Moko because I loved her work from the moment I first saw it and I knew she could create exactly what I wanted, and it was definitely worth the trip. This is my first tattoo and I was super nervous. I did a lot of research and this seemed like a very reliable spot. I've had my eye on it for some time but today I finally had time to actually go. I came in as a walk in and even though they close at 7 and I was there at 6 they were nice enough to fit me in. I gave them two ideas for my first tattoo and they helped me decide which was better. They told me to come back in 20 minutes and so I did and after filling out my consent form I was told my artist would be GK. Amazing. Patient. Good hands. Although it was my first tattoo and it did hurt I think he tried his best to make it as smooth as possible. He took his time to figure out my design and font. It took some tries but I'm so happy he was patient with me. I absolutely love the tattoo. Can't wait to come back for more pieces. And hopefully with him. I had been following CJ's work in his Instagram: @cjtattoostudio and completely admired his work on brushstroke design. His work feels incredibly realistic - down to the inconsistent ink drag a brush leaves on rice paper. His design and vision are gorgeous. CJ was also extremely patient and kind with me - my tattoo was in honor of my late father and we had gone back and forth (it was on me since I couldn't quite envision how to express my grief and strength I have from my father). I came here late on a Friday night about 2 weeks ago to inquire more about some of the availability of work I wanted to get done. When I got in, I was politely greeted and asked what I needed to ask, not knowing that they were actually closing up for the night! (It was about 9pm-ish, maybe later). I wanted something small done, and they told me they would still be able to take me despite them closing up shop. Ling was my artist and she was extremely patient with me. Originally, the small piece was a "test" piece since it was simple, and she was really patient and took her time, again, despite it being so late. Once done, she gave me the aftercare instructions and made sure I was comfortable before I left the shop. In addition, I wanted to schedule something with CJ for a bigger piece, but when I was told he's been booked for a while, I opted to stick with Ling. Fast forward a week, I'm back on her table and she got to work on calligraphy I wanted on my ribs. Once again, she didn't disappoint and was even more patient, offering sound advice on positioning, size, and overall genuineness. On toppppp of this! The piece she did the week prior, she was not hesitant at all to touch it up. I'm actually looking to see when I'm free (and her as well) to go back and get more work done! I hate to be that person who doesn't get anything done and leaves a bad review so please take this with a grain of salt! This is a review of the service only. I was looking for a tattoo shop that could work on my right arm. It has an empty spot I'd like to get filled in and found CJ tattoo. I walked in at 2pm on a Tuesday hoping for a consultation (and totally ready to leave a deposit) and there was a man laying on the couch who was named, Jin. I asked him about another tattooist and he had no clue what his schedule was. He told me to try and just "come back tomorrow". When I asked to see his work he showed me his very sparse Instagram. I asked if he was interested in working on my arm and he kept muttering things about shading that I couldn't understand. When he stopped talking he stared at me and waited for me to leave. Awkward. I said "ok thanks!" and walked out the door. It would have been great if he was more willing to speak to me about the possibilities but he really brushed me off and made me feel like making an appointment for a consultation wasn't even possible. Oh well, tattoo shops are notorious for being a bit disrespectful so this is just another one. On to the next! read more

I went in to get my first piercing, while on vacation here, and was looking forward to because of the price point. It went by smoothly and was done quick . I noticed the stud on my nose was peaking out the whole time. The next day I noticed when looking for the piercing within my nose that I could not feel it whatsoever. She basically had "pierced" it but it never went though to the other side. So the stud was going inside my cartilage area instead of through my nose. I noticed by the time they had closed and was going to leave the state within a couple hours. I now have to go get it repierced when I arrive home basically paying double the price because they couldn't do a good job. read more

The best tattoo experience I have had. Just finished the 1.5st session of a 3/4 leg sleeve and so far I've only had positive things to say. The first day I had scheduled, we were supposed to start the outline, but because of CJ's meticulous attention to detail, we stenciled and restenciled and restenciled multiple times to where he was finally happy with the placement. The first day, he essentially worked for free as nothing was tattooed. For me, this immediately gave me a good impression. He tattoos for the sake of art, not money. The first five times we placed the stencil on my leg we could've started. But he wasn't satisfied with decent placement, he needed perfect placement. This is just a little insight into my experiences thus far but I am so pleased. If you're looking for a quick tattoo in and out and don't really care about details and perfection, CJ might not be the artist for you, maybe someone else in the shop or even a completely different shop, but if you're looking for an amazing tattoo, this is the place to be. The language barrier might be troublesome but by and large communication was not an issue as many other artists in the shop are fluent in English and mandarin.
