Fantastic food and service! It's the best Chinese food I've found in the Dayton area. I highly recommend trying the spicy chili fish.

I'm a fan of the first CJ Chan restaurant, and have always loved their food. So I was excited to hear that they recently opened up a larger restaurant not too far away. It's a more spacious restaurant, and a lot of thought was obviously put into the interior. It's very pretty, with some nice, modern design elements added in. It's casual, but still fancy enough for a date. It's comfortable. The menu is similar to the first location, with some added items. They serve a combination of Chinese and Japanese cuisine, offer a full sushi bar, and they also offer some Thai dishes now. The sushi is very fresh. I know sushi well, and they always seem to have very high quality fish and seafood. I really like their CJ Roll, with shrimp tempura, and the triple roll with tuna, salmon and yellowtail and tempura crunch. Definitely try the curry. It's sweet, savory and a little spicy at the same time, I love the combination of flavors and tastes in this dish. It's a perfect dish to warm you up during this cold winter. read more

We had a huge takeout order, almost 20 items for a family gathering following a funeral. The order was ready for pick up when we arrived. It was organized very well in two large bags and a large box. We also appreciated the large amount of soy sauce packets, chopsticks, and fortune cookies that were provided. Everything we ordered was correct. The food was very tasty as well. Having had quite a few of the local Asian restaurants, this one has always pleased. I have ordered several different dishes and sushi. Mala chicken is very spicy. My favorites are Szechuan, Hunan and Mongolian Beef. The sushi have arrived warm a few times, probably due to the delivery driver but after 30 minutes in fridge, it is perfect. read more

We ordered CJ Chan a few days ago for delivery. While all the fresh items tasted great the white rice was very undercooked. The Bento box was good. The chicken fried rice was good. The General Tso's tasted good could have used a dash more spice. I would order again, but I would hope that the white rice would be better. It is a staple. read more

Probably once a month I will place a To Go order for my wife and myself at CJ Chan's. There is not normally any sort of problem, but tonight when I brought our orders home (Chicken Egg Foo Young / Wonton Soup / Crab Rangoon ) there was no rice. I had an order of Chicken Egg Foo Young but no rice. It normally comes with rice and it is one of my go to meals. So, my part of supper was kind of ruined. There is nothing better than paying for a dinner and it starts off as bad due to missing ingredients. I placed my order 9/24 at 6:45pm, #61, totaled $18.70. Really a disappointment as I was looking forward to some good Chinese food and paid for Chinese food but my part was ruined so basically I spent $19 for my wife's soup and crab ragoons. My wife told me that her food was great but my food, not so much. Nothing better than paying for a meal and then having to go home and fix something to eat because what you ordered was not complete. I feel like I wasted my money as it was not very good without rice (so ended up making something else which I was trying not to do which is why I went to pick up some food). Found this place on accident, but happy that I did. I got the salmon teriyaki bento box. Comes with vegetable/shrimp tempura, white rice, 4 pieces of California roll, bean sprouts, and of course the salmon. Order some "brown" sauce on the side to compliment the salmon. It's one of the better bento boxes that I've had in Cincy/Dayton. I've driven up (45 mins) for the same bento box before. Device is good, and the people working in the place a pretty friendly. I read many reviews about this place, and thought great, I should try it out. I was very disappointed. The garlic chicken didn't have any garlic flavor. The egg rolls were all wrap and very little stuffing. General Tso chicken didn't taste anything like it should. The dogs didn't mind,they ate it anyway. My family has been patronizing CJ Chan for 5+ years and welcomed an additional location. It's more spacious and even more beautiful inside. A rare sight is an actual finished ceiling in a restaurant that's housed in a "strip/plaza" location and they've done it well with varying and complementary textures and colors. Real wood, tasteful tile work and modern light fixtures adorn the interior. My first visit to the new location was memorable because it wasn't too busy and the sashimi was extremely cold. The salmon, particularly, was frozen (in the middle). I quietly recommended a manager(?) to check the serving temperature and upon my second visit, my tastebuds were again delighted. There is no soda dispensing system visible and my choice of Diet Coke was served from a bottle. I didn't drink too much as I wasn't sure if a second bottle would be complimentary. So far I have only sampled the Bento varieties in my two visits but I am satisfied that the quality is every bit the same high-level as the original. The service is attentive and characteristically respectful and friendly. No one person seems to dominate the tables as you will be visited by several different individuals during your visit. They have both a Chinese and Japanese menu, so you can eat sushi and fried rice. The ambiance it nice even though the restaurant is a little small. Had heard good things about this place and finally tried it out. First, there are a bevy of options that anyone could find something they like. The prices are incredibly fair, cheap even. I have not had dinner but I have to assume it is just as good as lunch. I got the orange chicken lunch and I had more food then I could eat. The chicken and rice are good and the egg roll was too. Well CJ Chan has a theme: amazing food, lots of options, great customer service, good prices. This location is extremely modern and a chic interior. The only thing they are missing is an alcohol license! One bad review below seems extremely picky (brown sauce chick) the other review (sketchy health code) seems circumstantial. They should not deter anyone whatsoever from coming here, because you'd be missing out on quick amazing delicious food. I recommend the Egg Foo Young. It's egg in the shape/size of a pancake filled with veggies or your meat choice for $7.90 plus a gravy like sauce and side of rice. It was more than enough for 1 person. I would have had leftovers but shared it and forced myself to eat the rest because it was so good. read more

First time trying CJ Chan on Alex... my order was ready quickly and was prepared accurately. First, when I arrived to pick up I was taken back by the two people working up front without masks (one making sushi) so I started trying to look in the back where my food was being prepared, thankfully through the curtain I could see the people in the kitchen wearing masks appropriately. Now, to the food, everything tasted very sweet. The general chicken was really dry. The beef was a bit chewy, as if it needed to cook just a little bit longer. The food was good but I would stick to tsaos cuisine. I'd say my only dislike is the sauces for the lo mein and beef were stronger than the actual taste of the food so the beef tasted a little off when chewing but overall good meal. read more

Used to be good but the quality has gone down hill. Always order the beef and broccoli with crab Rangoon but the last few times it was just bad. The crab Rangoon tastes like the oil was old and the beef was so spongy it was like chewing gum and all day the next day my wife and I was visiting the porcelain god as something was not right. Delicious and inexpensive Chinese and Japanese cuisine! I've been to CJ Chan for both dine-in and carry out and have been consistently pleased with the customer service. The restaurant is located at a strip-mall, but don't let the outside deceive you; the interior is classy, comfortable, and clean. The only reason I'm giving a 4 out of 5 is because dishes featuring fried/breaded chicken sometimes turn up a few hard pieces. Still, I've had good experiences with CJ Chan over-all. I recommend the veggie delight and shrimp dishes! The egg drop soup is also very good. I definitely plan to keep coming back. read more

Just moved to town and happy we found this place . I had the Hawaiian chicken and my husband had General tso's chicken. We also ordered the chicken curry and a spicy tuna roll and the crab Rangoon's . All was delicious and the staff was friendly when we called and placed the order . I ordered this from Door dash and was highly upset. Today was my boyfriends birthday and thought I would order him something nice. It had good flavor but made us very sick after a hour or so. They allowed my son to tailor his food to exactly how he wanted it and it was perfect when it arrived. It was good, but no better than other places I've seen with lower star ratings. I had to rate it lower for that reason. With all of the 5 stars I had higher expectations. This place did not meet the mark. Carried out our meal. Food was prepared quickly and staff was friendly. Don't be surprised when you walk in and your standing next to someone's table. This is probably one of my favorite chinese restaurants I have ever visited. I've gone to the original which I found when going to the University of Dayton. This restaurant has a very clean and modern atmosphere. The service is extremely efficient and the servers are very friendly. The food was perfectly done.
